I am looking for the parents of siblings Laura Jane and William Hendon. They were either born in Alabama or Tennessee. I know that Laura Jane Hendon married James L. Watts in Bedford County, Tn in January 1869. I have a list of their children. Laura and James was my 2nd Great Grandparents.

Hello, I am on the search for a Sarah Matilda Hendon who married James Stuart c 1800, Met Police joined 1829 and became an Inspector. We believe Sarah was born around 1804, don't know where. The family lived in London and emigrated to Adelaide, South Australia with 5 children. Have baptism cert for Emily born 1835 Deptford, and know William (my line) born Greenwich. Can you help me please? Met Police has not replied to my requests. Regards.

I do know what happened to asiel and mary's children as i am the great, great grandaughter of asiel and mary.......they had a son, william jefferson that was not listed on that "descendants of samuel alexander" or he was put in the wrong place, rather as the child of jeremiah alexander.....not true... that i read online.....in fact, much of the information in that is wrong as i am going by a very very old family bible......william jefferson was father to MY grandfather, william edward, who had my father then my father had me

Margaret Hendon O'Brien (1844 Ireland - 1891 Hornell, Steuben, New York USA)

I've recently learned that my Great Great Grandmother Margaret O'Brien's maiden name was Hendon. She was born in Ireland in 1844 and immigrated to America with her family before later meeting her future husband Michael O'Brien (who was born in Birdsall, Allegany, New York in 1849).

I have been unable to locate much information documenting her life prior to marriage but have discovered what could be a lead. The attached is an 1850 Census record from Bergen, Genesee , New York.

I am needing help locating this family in the 1860 US Census. I have tried but cannot locate any of the persons documented. Unfortunately it is possible that Hendon may have been an Americanized variation of the original Irish surname.

Senia 1st married John McKay 30 Sept 1895 in Oktibbeha County, MS. She married John H Avants 2nd on 26 Nov 1898 in Oktibbeha County, MS. Manerva Hendon, Senia's mother lived with them. John moved to Richland County, LA by 1920. Senia was gone by that census. John's mother Nancy was living with him that census year.
When Senia married John she has a daughter named Nancy McKay age 2. Then John and Senia had children Lulu, Joe, Iler, Harry, Myrtle and Vardaman.

My husband's family was from texas, just not sure of the city. His father's name was Thom and he has an aunt named Kittie who is living in Massachusetts. Does anyone know if they are related to us? I would love to find family members so my kids can have their father's family history.

BRICK WALLS

Greetings all,

As far as I know we have three major "brick walls" in Hendon family research.
(there probably are more) :)

(1) William McKinley Hendon, born 1805, married Sarah Herren.

(2) George Marion Hendon, born 1821, married 1st Rachel McElroy, then married Dulcie Gunter Wilson.

(3) William F. Hendon, born 1797, married Louisa A. Powell.

If anyone has any info on the ancestry or descendants of these lines, please advise.

I am nearing completion of the book and need as much information as possible: dates, places, marriages,
burials, old photos, etc.

You are confusing Senia Hendon (daughter of Benjamin Norris Hendon and Minerva (Walker) Sansing) with Sina Hendon (daughter of John Hendon and Sarah Scoggins).

And, I need to reach John Edward Avants. Does anyone have a current address for him?

Benjamin N. HENDON married Aley A. HENDON in Lowndes County, Mississippi on 8 Feb 1841, which means they were both likely born 1815-1825. Does anyone have info on either of them? Perhaps she was a widow and this was her second marriage. So far, I've drawn a blank on both. Thanks in advance.

Sorry. I don't know any Beth Hendon. My mothers name was Elizabeth but everyone called her Betty. She was a Baker before she married into the Hendon family. Your name sounds familiar too, but I can't remember from where.

I grew up in Fort Worth, TX. I left to join the Air Force in 1978. Have only been back for occasional visits. I think my brother Jeff had a daughter named Lisa Marie, But she was put up for adoption when she and her sister were very young. I tried to adopt them, but was told I couldn't because I was single at the time. I didn't want to lose the girls. My brother and his wife were both very bad parents and lost both their girls because of it. My brother has straightened out since and regrets the loss of his girls very much. He is always wondering and worring about them.

Marvin Lester Hendon was my grandfather. Annie Laura Sparkman was his wife. Their children were Leta, Irene, Leona, Verlon, and my father Leland.

I have no information on my grandmother beyond her maiden name.

My grandfathers parents were Marion J. Hendon and Susan Irene Green.

I don't know a lot of my cousins, but I know Jimmy Beck, though I haven't seen him in years.

My aunt Leta's son, Billy Ray Wood, might have more information. He said in an email that he did a lot of research years ago, but would have to find it.

I am looking for OLIVER HENDON who married Louisa Maud SMITH in 1916, they had a son Oliver George Alfred also in 1916. They lived in Greenwich. Oliver Hendon was killed in 1918. Oliver Hendon was recorded as living with his grand-parents (who were my paternal great-grandparents) in 1891 and 1901. On his marriage certificate he gave his father as George Hendon (deceased), this was also his grandfather's name. I have not found his birth details. I am interested in finding out who his parents were, and whether his son had any descendants.

My Grandmother's name was Elizabeth Hendon. She was born July 27, 1888, died June 30, 1964 in Randolph County, AL. Married Jasper Wilson Harmon.

I don't know if this is in the same line of Hendons you are looking for. I know very little about my Grandmother.

George H. Hendon

My great grandfather, George H. Hendon, is from the NW Alabama region. I have found him on the 1880 census in Fayette County, Alabama, living with his grandfather, William McCollum. George and his sister Ella (Martha Luella) both moved to Garland County, then Montgomery County, Arkansas around 1900. Could anyone tell me the parents of George H. I have reason to believe his father was a John Hendon who married Mary McCollum, daughter of William McCollum. Any help will be appreciated.

Bill thanks for the reply.. The Winston County l870 Census Shows Robert H. Married to MARTHA E?? the 1880 Census shows him married to MARY. I know for a fact he was married to Mary Hughes in 1880. I cannot find any info on this Martha E. ??? I would appreciate a list of their children if you could send it to me...

I have a Thomas Hendon Cromartie, born in 1832 in Bladen County, NC and died in 1854. Parents I have are John Cromartie and Elizabeth Hendon, John born 1808 and Eliz, born 1813. Have her listed as death date of 6/21/1857. John died 10/16/1864. They had Thomas and 2 other boys and two othe girls.

anothe thing, Harris and William were brothers; James is a first cousin to Harris's kids. They lived pretty close to each other in Twnship 13W Range 9S on the Hunstville meridian; they all lived within a few miles of each other.

I have some Hartsfields and a lot of Hendons; for example, Robinson Hendon married Elizabeth Hartsfield about 1775 and they had many childre, lived in Troup County Georgia and then Alabama. I can go back to Godfrey Hartsfield of PA. and go back to the UK for Hendons (Hendens) long ago. Lwt me know if I can be of help..Look also on Wayne Hendon's Hendon Chronicles web site etc.

I was in possession of an heirloom brought over by Josias.
My greataunt Elvira Hendon gave me a brownish ceramic mug,that supposedly was taken from Hendonhalle.
When my mom got sick with Alzheimers,my sister took it out of the house and lied about knowing anything about it.
Aunt Viras wish was that I return it to the Hendon line.
So I am trying to get help from this family to contact the theives who took it...got phone numbers and addresses.

HENDON FAMILY IN EXETER, DEVON

My great great aunt, Emma Pitts (born 1837 in Crediton) married William Hendon (born approx 1838, not known where) in Exeter in 1863. He was a goldbeater.

I believe Emma was made a widow, and also used the surname CROOK. In the 1871 census, a Louisa Crook Hendon aged 5 (grand daughter), is living with Emma's parents, John and Fanny Pitts in Countess Wear, Topsham, Devon. In the 1891 censusI have also found an Emma Crook, widow, laundress, aged 53, living at the same address with her grandson Willie Crook aged 7 and John and Fanny Pitts

Apart from this I know nothing, and would love to hear from anyone with any information about the Hendon or Crook families who can help.

There are several Hendons buried in the Humble cemetery: Alice Roark Hendon, Mattie A. Hendon, Tom Hendon and Kittie Hendon. Let me know if these are in your family, if you need more info and if you need pictures of their tombstones.

According to "The Hendons From Gunpowder River", there were two George B. Hendons: (1) born in Green County, Alabama, in 1859 and was the son of John R, Hendon and a Miss Goodlow. It is believed this family wound up in Tennessee; (2) born in DeKalb County, Georgia in 1843 and was the son of William McKinley Hendon and Sarah Herren.

Looking for info on George Hartford Hendon (March 27,1866-December 11, 1942), married Elmina Francis Dickson (May 25, 1871-July 20,1943) on November 25, 1894. They possibly resided in Green Co. Alabama, but eventually moved to Arkansas. Can anyone assist?
