Hi, I'm Nancy Hepp Gardner. My father, Bernard, was the oldest of the Hepp boys born to Charles J and Cecelia Rapp Hepp. In my research George Lawrence Hepp was the youngest of the children born to Adam T and Anna Marie Voelker Hepp. Adam and Anna Marie arrived in America in 1881 with five sons, Conrad, J Henry, Charles, John P and Vincent. George was born 2/29/1884, a leap year baby. He was married to Mary Lenora Hepp ( I don't have a maiden name)and according to the 1920 Census had five children, Lawrence, Noel, Berthalien, William and Elizabeth. My father's siblings were, Anna, Emma, George, William, Valentine, Conrad, Vincent and Cecelia. It gets confusing as families named their children after relatives. I have found a lot of Conrad's, George's and Vincent's. The names you mentioned do not sound familiar. I hope I have helped a little and if you can add to my information on the Hepp clan please let me know. My records show that they came from Bergrothenfels, Main-Spessart, Bayern, Germany. This small town in Bavaria is near the larger city of Wurtzburg which was bombed during WW II and rebuilt by America. I think the US still has a base close by. I visited Wurtzburg in 2007 but didn't have time to do any research on the Hepp's.

Charles J Hepp was my grandfather. My father, Bernard was the oldest of the Hepp boys. My father was 38 years old when he married my mother. He stayed at home with his mother who I have determined died a week before the marriage on 8/30/41. I have Charles coming to America from Bergrothenfels, Main-Spessart,Bayern,Germany on September, 1881. I've been told the Hepp's, Adam and Anna Marie Voelker Hepp, arrived with their five sons, Conrad, J Henry, Charles, John P and Vincent. The youngest boy, George, was born in America. Unfortunately the 1890 Census would give me much needed information but they were lost in a fire. The city directories I was able to browse gave me interesting information but the ones I need between 1930-1936 are missing. Also newspaper are limited on the internet. Any information to add to what I already have would be welcomed. I have been told that the parents of Adam Hepp are Adam Hepp and Marquerite Klop.

Charles J Hepp was born in 1872 in Wurzburg, Germany. his parents were Adam T Hepp (Feb 1846:Wurzburg-13 Mar 1892:Troy, NY) and Anna Marie Voelker (May 1848:Germersheim, germany - 30 Sep 1902: Troy, NY)

Don we might be related. Did Adam also have a son named George Lawrence Hepp who married Mary Parenteau? I am tracking all the names you gave plus George who was born in Troy. My mother said she used to hang out with the Hepp family. You know any Souliers or Fenglers? hehe.

I am tracking they came from Germersheim in Germany which is only about 1 hour away from where I am stationed.

yep, that would be true. Nathalie lived with her grandmother after her parents died, but this her. W/O Louis Rene Gaiennie and d/o of relationship (no marriage)Jean Baptiste Philippe Lafonta of France and Susannah Hepp. I think that Lafonta was married to someone in France, but mentions the children they had together in his will. Those children are listed along with all info I have on this wild family on my Ancestry Family Tree named Baumgartner-Byrd Tree.

Didn't you say a while back that you thought/are related top susan Hepp?..and/or John Hepp...seeing he was born PA, died in New Orleans.
I was looking at "hints" and came across info through Louis Rene Gaiennie. I was trying to figure out if Louis Rene Gaiennie is the same as Louis Renato Gaiennie....wife I find of him is Natalie LaFonta/LaFouta...she is daughter of Susan Hepp, granddaughter of John Hepp.

Immigrated to Canada in 1905 with children: Elizabeth, John, Frank, Annie, Peter and Katherine. Settled in Red Deer, Alberta but I have no other information beyond this. Looking for details on Heinrich Heps who left Heltersberg, Germany via Antwerp, Belgium, for the US in 1906.

Sailed on the ship Vaderland with his wife Magdalena (nee Eberle) and their children Emma, Carl, Otto, Amelia, Anna, and Elizabeth.

Name is listed as Heps on the ship's passenger manifest but was later spelled Hess.

I am looking for information on the Hepp family that resided in Sibley and/or Le Sueur counties in Minnesota during the mid 1800's to mid 1900's: (maybe possibly even today?)
Hilaria Hepp (abt 1818-?) married to L Grace??? (abt 1827-?)
John Hepp (1857-1942) married to Sarah Jennie Working (1864-1948)
John and Sarah Jennie apparently knew family members from many of my family tree branches (Boldt and Lindorf), both in the Henderson and Cleveland areas. Family rumor is that John or Sarah may be a biological relative of mine, also.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Greg, you might check with Chuck Engelberger , who has posted on the Hepp messageboard to see if his database has any of those names. Many Hepps came to the Lake County/Il./Indiana area just south of Chicago and spread out from there. If you can't find Chuck on the messageboard, I will see if I can contact him .I'm sure that Shirley Rae also has much information about the Hepps just south of Chicago.

I do not know where Schaffhausen is, without doing a little research, but many of the Hepp families came from a town/area of south central Germany called Ruete--(are you sure of the spelling-Ruti--couldn't be a co-incidence , could it?) I wonder if there could be a connection to Angela's family. The area is not all that far from Switzerland and depending on which period of history we are talking about, it could have been under Swiss rule. There are many connections for those Hepps, and if you are still interested, I would be happy to guide you.

And I feel sure that your relatives have at least visited Wien, since my great grandmother, Anna Hepp,lived here with her husband , August Long. I see that there is a John Bixenman who married an Anna here in Wien in 1894---unfortunately , there is no last name for Anna. In 1900, an Anna Spieler Married Mihael Mai.

Hello, Veronica, I don't know much about the Gress family, but am related to the Hepp's and have quite a bit of information about them, and without going to my notes, I am thinking that Regina and Anton may have married in Germany--and I am guessing that their hometown was the same or very close to each other. Can you find out if your Anton's wife was a Regina? and do you know where they lived in the US?

Hepp, according to Genealogy.com, comes from the word "heppe," which is a knife used by vine dressers, workers in vineyards, typically along the Rhine, which is the general part of Deutschland from which our ancestors came. A heppe today is shaped like the arab scimitar sword, but with the cutting edge only on the inside, the concave part, so that the tool would be used by pulling it toward the user.

My ancestor was Mathias Hepp,who migrated through New York about 1840 at the age of 20, was listed as a house carpenter in immigration records, as well as census records later, married a woman named Barbara Enders and had a family of house movers in Buffalo,New York.
I would be interested in any more detailed info re:Wuerttemberg.

My ancestor, Mathias Hepp, came from Wuerttemberg, as well, as a carpenter, in 1840, and followed the Erie Canal to its terminus in Buffalo, New York. He married Barbara Enders and so began the Hepp family of Buffalo.
Mathias was listed as a house carpenter in the Census records early on but became a "house mover" in later records; and his son, Henry, started Henry Hepp & Sons House Movers. My grandfather, Harold, was a house mover,as well, but his son, William Henry Hepp, became an attorney, a candidate for public office and a public official in his own right.
He had an "Uncle Jake" who moved to Chicago.

Yes, I have Maria born 1837 and died 1912, her siblings were Margaret, John, Anna, and Francis Seraphino(your great grandfather, perhaps). I have Francis' son as Francis Anselm, with siblings Adelbert, Elizabeth, Ludmilla, Clara, and Alphonsus.

Do the rest of these names sound right?

Swiss Hepp family?

My Hepp family came from Germany to London in the mid 1800s but my son's partner is also a Hepp (what are the chances of that I wonder?!) and her family comes from Switzerland. Her family were immediately from Ruti but before that they came from the Schaffhausen area. Her grandfather was Heinrich Hepp b c 1900. If anyone can point me in the direction of any information about this family I would be most grateful.

My ancester came from Meisterdorf to England too - and he was a glass engraver.

I found Hermann Kretschmann on the 1881 Census in Clerkenwell. He applied for British Nationality in 1882 (see National Archievs Website).

I am going to Meisterdorf next week!

My G/Grandmother is one Bertha Hepp; her Father & Mother are, Alanasius Hepp b:03 May 1816 d:15 Aug 1869 & Verena Mader, b: 02 Apr 1828 d: 30 May 1899; both from Biberach, Württemberg, Germany and died Lake, ID.

I'm thinking that there's a lot of similarities with your "Geradsweiler" Hepps and my "Biberach" Hepps.

Let me know what you think, hopefully we'll be able to exchange information.

hey thanks much.. yeah my dad was born in cleveland.. so I believe there might be alot of them from up around there.. Im just so dissapointed that I know nothing about where I come from.. It is like a piece missing from my life.

My Dad is of the Hepp bloodline. Our line comes from Coburg, Bavaria. My g-grandfather and his father immigrated to the USA in 1865 to Baltimore and then spread west from there. There are a lot of Hepps in the Chicago area that are from this same line.

yes my name is Richard Corrigan. I do not know much about the Hepp name except it was my dads original last name and later had it changed to Corrigan when My grandmother remarried. What I was asking is if ayone has any information on the Hepp last name and where it comes from. You see I do not know anything about my family history on either side of my family.
