I see this is a very old posting but I am going to try anyhow? I have been having one heck of a time figuring out which Harpster line I am from. My descendant that I am stuck on is a Michael Harpster born in PA abt 1816. The first census I have on him is 1840 in Mohican Township, Ashland County, Ohio. He married an Eliza Sigler or Ziegler abt 1838 in Ohio, it is listed that she was also born in PA. Their children were Sarah, Sammuel, Michael, Peter Michael (my descendant)Mary and Reletha J.

I can also tell you that in the area they lived there were only a few Harpster families in the beginning, John Harpster, Fredrick Harpster, George Harpster who married Elizabeth Treece and Jacob Harpster. I believe George Harpster may have been an uncle to our Michael? I recently obtained documents from the Ashland Co. recorders office. I know there is a relationship between George Harpster, Michael Harpster and an Eve Harpster who married an Emsingmer.

Any info you can provide on your line would be appreciated so I can just compare.

Tina Harpster-Bokar

Besherert = Besheret Which is a Jewish world basically meaning soulmate. Sounds to me like that endearing term has slipped in as a name somewhere along the way. Herbster and Besherert both showed up in hints for me, so googled the names. Anna is the Paternal Grandmother of my Great Great Great Grandma, Matilda Jane (Jean?) Ritter.

Thanks, for the posting, All the names are in Jeremiah's Bible how ever Mary A. is listed a daughter and died in Aug. 5 1861 at the age of 1 year 9 months and 26 days. the dates seem a little off. How far back can you go with Jeremiah. Can you trace this back to Germany.
Robert.

My research shows Jeremiah married to Barbara Oldt (d. 1892), to Mary A. Thomas c. 1894 and in 1900 census. Re 1910 census his wife's name was Amanda.
I show Jeremiah as the son of Anthony. My husband's ancestor is Jacob (17891 - 1864), a brother of Anthony. Jacob's tombstone uses the spelling HARBSTER.

I am looking for information on Louis Herbster born in Baden in 1837. He was naturalized in 1860 and married Mary Bordenkircher in IL in 1858. Would like to know how he fits in with the Pennsylvania Herbsters.

Angelina Herbster(1832-1917)was my great-g grandother. She lived in Wessnersville (Stony Run) and married William Snyder (1831-1905). I and some other Lehigh County Herbster family researchers believe Benjamin (born 1815) was her father and her mother Maria "Polly" Kunkle. It is assumed Benjamin and Polly did not marry since he was listed with Lydia age 30 (she would have been 12 when Angelina was born)and four children in the 1850 census. Unfortunately, Angelina was with the Henninger family in Albany Twp in the 1850 census. I assume John G Herbster age 75 in the 1850 census and living in Benjamin's household was Benjamin's father. I have several of the church records from near Wessnersville but they shed no light on these possible relationships. In www.pagstones.com there are four Herbster tombstones from the Emanuel's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moore Twp, Northampton Co, PA- Martin (died in 1769 age 31), his wife Fronica Armbrust (1728-1773), Catharina Herbster (died 1773) and Elisabetha (died 1769). I will appreciate if you can shed light on a possible Benjamin/Polly Kunkle relationship. We have not found a baptismal record for Angelina.

I believe Ken still lives on the original farmplace. Henry also had sisters named Dora, Emelia, Anna, Lena, and Henrietta.

I am a descendant of the Herbsters settled at Wessnerville (now Stony Run), PA in the 18th c. My g-g-grandfather was Benjamin Herbster (b. 1815, Albany Twp, Berks Cnty, PA - d. Reading, PA). My lineage prior to this Benjamin is unclear. I believe this Benjamin was a son of one John Herbster and Gertrude Kob Seib, married in 1815. One of Benjamin's sons, The Rev. Samuel Kumerer Herbster (b. Mar 28, 1851, Stony Run, PA), would be your g-g-grandfather. I found Rev. Samuel's bio at the Luthern Serminary, Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, alumni site. Perhaps they can help you. Any information you can share about my Benjamin's parents would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am a descendant of a Benjamin Herbster, born 1815, Albany Twp, Berks Cnty, PA, and married to Lydia Zimmerman Kumerer. Benjamin's father may have been a John G(eorge?) Herbster, born Oct 18, 1785, in Albany Twp. John G.'s father may have been a Frederick Herbster, who is listed in the 1790 US Census of Berks Cnty, PA. Can anyone confirm my Benjamin's father and grandfather? Any information about the Herbster family living in the 1700s at Stony Run (Wessnerville), Albany Twp, Berks Cnty, PA will be appreciated. Thanks.
