Great, I just had a brilliant idea how about we gather all the Herreras to see any pictures etc. they might have or memories we might have to share of Maclovio Herrera because my grandpa Maclovio did not die in the revolution he stopped fighting until the Mexican Revolution was over, it would be really nice and fascinating to know we can make any arrangements.

Hi Lee, I am Alejandro Herrera son of Paulino Herrera, and Bernardo Herrera your grandfather is the uncle of my father. You are correct about that Bernardo lived in Zacatecas. They came from Chihuahua and Torreon. I encourage you to listen to, "Los Valientes del 14" by Antonio Aguilar.

I remind you that we get a given name -sometimes more than one- followed by the father's family name AND the mother's family name. General Maclovio Herrera's full name was Maclovio Herrera Cano, Cano being my great grandmother's family name. The names you mention could be those of some distant cousins of Maclovio, but I do not know them.

I haven't heard the corrido you refer to, I am sorry.
Hi,Raul

I don't understand why the last name Cano came about because I have a book called, "La Batalla de Zacatecas" and in the book there is a picture of Maclovio like the one in the website you send me and it says his name as Maclovio Herrera only and not Cano. I am going to give you names of the Herrera's that faught in the Mexican Revolution and let me know if you know anything about them; Jesus Herrera, Alba Herrera, Francisco Sanchez Herrera, Luis Herrera- (Francisco and Luis- tenientes coroneles) and Juan M. Herrera (major).
There is a corrido of Maclovio Herrera the one who sings it, is Antonio Aguilar, the name of the song is "Los Valientes del 14". Let me if you heard all of the song. I think we are related because Bernardo Herrera is the uncle of my dad and I. I would appreciate it if you reply, thank you.
-Alejandro Herrera

We are definitely not speaking about the same Maclovio Herrera. General Maclovio Herrera Cano died in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, on April 17, 1915, as you can read at http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maclovio_Herrera

You probably misread what I wrote: Luis and Maclovio Herrera Cano were brothers; I never said they were the same person. They were not from Zacatecas, but from Chihuahua.

Best wishes,

Raúl Herrera

Bernardo Herrera is my father's uncle and the last name Herrera came from Torreon Mexico, and I believe that you are incorrect because general Luis Herrera Cano is not general Maclovio Herrera it is two different persons, they might be cousins because Maclovio Herrera is my grandpa and he died when he was 93 years old in Zacatecas Mexico, and Juan Herrera is my uncle (son of Maclovio Herrera) and Juan lived for many years in Tepetongo Zacatecas. If you can send me your number I will call you so you'll be able to speak with my mom about the Herrera family.

Re: Maclovio Herrera Military Band

Your grandfather was most likely a member of the band that Maclovio Herrera's troops took from the federal army in Santa Rosalía de Camargo, Chihuahua, in April, 1913. The battle of Santa Rosalía was one of the Benito Juárez regiment's major feats before the formation of the División del Norte, which took place in September of the same year.

A couple of notebooks from the diary of the band's conductor, captain Antonio Villalva, were published by the Colegio de la Frontera Norte under the title Apuntes de un Músico de la Revolución. The diary is a most interesting document, describing the journey of the Benito Juárez brigade from September, 1914, when the brigade separated from the División del Norte and moved first to the Durango mountains and then to Sinaloa, to November, 1915, when they returned to Parral. The original diary consisted of six notebooks, of which two were lost. Apuntes de un músico de la Revolución contains two of the remaining four. Villalva's narration is colorful and full of interesting information; even moving.

Can you tell me your grandfather's name? Maybe Villalva mentions him.

Hello,

I believe that this is my friend,Viveca. It has been a long time. She was married to Roy Herrera who worked as a chef and they had two sons, Hunter Ryan and Hudson Reed. I haven't heard from Roy for many years so I don't have further information about the family. Viveca was from Azle, TX, she attended Azle high school. Her mother and father both died when she was very young. I have a couple pictures of her if you find that she is indeed part of your family.

So you're intermarried with the Montijos too? Joseph Espinosa Montijo was the constable in Almaden, he married Mercedes Barrera, who was the daughter of Ysidra Sambrano Barreara Baric. My Grandpa was first cousins to the Sambranos. The last Sambrano male, Henry Sambrano, my grandpa's first cousin, died about five years ago....
