Have you collected anymore information on this family since 2003? There's a new resource in Milwaukee called "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" covering 1844-1950. I don't find an Oscar Herrmann listed, but I'm wondering if any of the entries are for Augusta Emilia as Herman, Hermann, etc. If you have a death date, that would narrow the search.
Gary Rebholz
compiler/editor
gary.rebholz@gmail.com

Not sure if his name is spelled Lawrence or Laurence, my family tree info various people have worked on in my family, has both spellings.

From a entry, a family member had entered in the family tree years ago....
"We believe he came to the US about 1850. We're not sure where he entered the US, but think it may have been New York City." We believe Lawrence and a brother came over together (don't know brother's name). We believe the brother stayed in New York, and Lawrence went somewhere in Ohio, then onto Indianpolis. The brothers never saw each other again.

Johana Nieades(Johanna Neider, or Neuader, we aren't sure which spelling)is believed to have come from the same town in Germany. It is believed Lawrence came to the US first, and after he was settled, sent for Johana and they were married in Ohio about 1852 and then moved to Indianapolis, IN.

We also believe the 1870 us census, has them living in
Indianapolis Ward 8 (2nd Enum), Marion, Indiana.

I believe they were Catholic.

I no longer have the Herrmann book. I donated it to the Southern California Genealogy Library located in Burbank, CA. You can contact them for further information. You can do an on-line search for the library. They are very large and run the 2nd largest genealogy convention the the US every year.

Lots of Christians & Johans--I had them all and my computer crashed. Would your family include those names and places? e-mail is lrherman03@charter.net.

Need to find out some infomation on Franz Herrmann. His father was Melchioris Herrmann and mother was Anna Maria Brunner. Franz married Barbara Meier in 1866. They had 9 children.... some of which emigrated to Australia/New Zealand. It is these that I'm most keen to know about. I have an arrival date into Sydney of 15 November 1913 but from there I draw a blank. Franz Herrmann was my Gt-Gt Grandfather.

Dear Pma,
My father is Neil McLeod, born 9.11.1926. His mother is Agatha Eliza Victoria Herrmann-she is the daughter of Carl Franz Fernindand Herrmann, and his first wife Elizabeth McGee b 1855- d 1895. I believe my grandmother Agatha Eliza Victoria Herrmann left home when she was 13 after her mother, and her father re-married. If you have any further information about Carl Herrmann, I'd be pleased to hear from you. I understand he was born 1860, married to Elizabeth in 1881, and died in Richmond Melbourne in 1933. My father and I live not far from Richmond in Melbourne.
regards
Suzanne McLeod (married name Gleeson)

Thank you for taking a photograph of my grandma's grave; that was very kind of you. Natalie Herrmann (nee Stamm) was the loving husband of Carl Theodore Herrmann (December 12, 1901 - January 5, 1961), and the loving mother of daughter Carol Ann Hillebrand (nee Herrmann). She was the loving grandmother of Mark Jeffrey Hillebrand, Michael Carl Hillebrand, David Leonard Hillebrand, and Michelle Ann Hillebrand (nee Joseph). She is survived by many great grandchildren - great granddaughter Heidi Hillebrand, great grandsons Mark John and Preston Lea Hillebrand, great grandaughter Amanda Diane Hillebrand, great grandson Michael Ryan Hillebrand, great granddaughter Macy Hillebrand, great granddaughters Hallie and Shelby Hillebrand, great grandson Noah Hillebrand, and great grandson Danny Joseph.

Natalie Herrmann spent many hours with her grandchildren, created wonderful memories, and was the ultimate grandmother. She is missed and loved by her family each and everyday.
