Some more info will be helpful. Are your Hersch family members from Somerset Co, PA? That's where mine are from. Also, have you checked any of the US Census for the yrs they lived? They can be a big help in finding family members. I have free access through my library to the Census and with some more names, Granpap etc., I could check it out.

Hi My grandma was born as a hersch along with two brothers. When my grandma (delores hersch) died we were going through the old records and came across something that gave us an insight that there was another child born, but was never talked about. We have been trying to figure who this mysterious birth was. The only thing I really was able to find out by word of mouth from other family members is that the birth was a girl but that's it. If you know anything about this please let me know any information. Delores's brothers are Abby, and Julius.
thanks.

I happened upon your message about the Hersches. My great-great grandfather was a Hersch. Friederich Hersch. I have some baptismal records from St. John's Lutheran Church in Rocky Ridge, OH. It shows an Alfred Hirsch born 10/25/1890 with the parents of Ludwig and Louise (Heidrich) which could be your relative. It shows other Hirsches with parents listed as Ludwig and Louise (Herwig). I think the Hersches were all related somehow, but I can't get them connected. I have a copy of Citizenship papers for an Adam Hersch born in Russia. My grandfather Alred Hersch also came from Prussia.

I am not sure who I am talking to. I am the black sheep of the family but am still searching for answers. I am the daughter of Stanford Hersch, the one no one knows about or want to know about and I do not quite how to handle it. I understand I had a sister Barbara who has died. A brother David and there are grandchildren. I really just want a picture of Stanford or anything connected to him. I have been told he was not a very nice person but at my age I really do not care. I would just like answers for my closure. I really do not think the family wants to know anything about me. I do not want to hurt anyone but still would like all the answers so at 65 I can have some closure as I said. Do you think you can help, just with answers? Thanx so much. Would appreciate anything. By the way, my mother is very much alive but very closed mouth and how much can you press someone 85. Still trying. When her mother died, Hilda Cortright - most of the answers died with her and at that time did not know to talk to her about this. Too late now! hawleysj@verizon.net

Hi Craig,
Harrison and Theresa Hersch had 8 children. Harry, Herman, Wilbert (Bill), a baby boy (passed as a baby from a snake bite so I was told), Bertha (my Mom), Mary (is burried in Summerset Pa.), Dorthy and Anna.
Theresa is burried in Michigan as is Dorthy and Wilbert. Harrison is burried in Meyersdale, Pa. beside his baby son at the Luthern Church. My Mom (Bertha Hersch Plitt) is also burried in Meyersdale but at White Oak Cemetary. She passed away 3-24-2000 at the age of 98. Aunt Mary Belle and Uncle Herman are also burried at the Church. They had 13 children, mose of them are still living. The old farm house is still in Meyersdale and one of Uncle Herman's son's is living there. I believe his name is Chester. I also believe Theresa is burried in Lancing or Saline Michigan. I was very young when she passed away but I still remember her and her house! As for the other's I really don't know! I would like to have a copy of the obit you have about Harrison! I hope this was helpful to you. Please email me at rottbabies@ aol.com
