My father was LeRoy Heskett. His brother was Lawrence. I knew your mother briefly. She was one of my fathers favorites. Grew up on the same street as Maxine and Lawrence. Playmates with Patty (their youngest) and Jeannie. Knew Danny, but he was older than me. We used to go to Topeka to visit and If I remember right, we went to Oklahoma where they lived also

Thanks...
Rachel Jane and Samantha were sisters who married brothers. Samantha was the first wife of my great great grandfather, William.

My lineage is Vivian Jeanne Gallagher Gibson->
Gilbert Russell Gallagher:Emma Eliz. Kaiser->
George Benjamin:Emma Acord Caldwell->
William:Samantha Heskett->
(then, of course, both the Gallaugher and Heskett lines from there).

Thanks for your help! My aunt compiled all this info in 1967. Her note on the George W. Gallaugher page is that all of the information was supplied to her by Virginia Gallaugher Stevens' daughter.

So, your George D Gallaugher... was he called Dick? That's a notation my aunt has next to his name, but it doesn't have his middle initial. Also, was Ruth Delphine called Tillie? Do you have her maiden name?

Do you have actual birth and death dates for George W. & Rachel Jane? All I have is years.

I know Chillicothe very well... of course, my grandfather grew up there, and we attended Gallaugher reunions there all the time in my much younger years. We probably know each other :)

Pharaby Crouse Heskett married Benjamin Heskett. Her father was Benjamin Adam Heskett. Her husband was older than her father.

Pharaby and Benjamin had a daughter Rachel Jane. She married George W Gallaugher. They were my great grandparents. My grandfather was George D Gallaugher and my mother was Ruth Delphine Gallaugher. They all lived in Chillicothe

Benjamin did not have a middle name,but I'll double check with Tacy. She's the Heskett authority

First of all, sorry for misspelling Heskett as Heskitt... my aunt has it written both ways in the book.

Second, I show that Mary Malvina b.18Sep1852 is the daughter of Pharaby Crouse Heskett Heskett & Benjamin NKMN Heskett. My records also show that Mary married Truman Elias Parker in 1870.

Lesley, I'm not sure where you got that Pharaby Crouse Heskitt was a Gallaugher. Her daughter Samantha (father Benjamin NKMN Heskitt, b.25Jun1775) married William Gallaugher. Samantha and William's son George Benjamin (b.22Oct1867) was my ggrandfather. Also, do you have a middle name for Benjamin who was married to Pharaby?

Hello, I'm the great-great-great grandaughter of Levi Heskett and Elizabeth Poulton!

Levi's mom was Matilda Heskett, I am unsure as to his paternal father, but Matilda later married George Littick.

Matilda's parents are Timothy Heskett and Anna Clarke

Timothy's parents are Benjamin Heskett and Catherine Palmer

And Benjamin's parents were Benjamin Heskett and Elizabeth Ijams who are the ones who came to America through Virginia. I'm not sure of the year, but Benjamin (the oldest one married to Elizabeth) was born in 1710.

Hope that this helps!

I am interested in purchasing a copy of your book about the ancestors of Ambrose Wolford Heskett and Sarah Slevin. I understand that my grandmother, Dorothy Heskett Reyes, and her Brother Harry Heskett contributed info. for this book. I have recently come across an article about my ggrandfather (Grandma and Harry's dad) from a book where it has North Dakota State Supreme Court cases, one where Harry Heskett was called to testify about a couple of men who were trying to operate another ferry into Canada without a license and put him out of business. Most likely the issue was bootlegging, and the other men were putting Harry out of business.

I believe the young man in the wheelchair to be Clyde Heskett (1876-1904) whom had cerebral palsy, son of Thomas Everett and Isabell Margaret Heskett. Thanks Fred Heskett

Ambrose Wolford Heskett and Sarah Slevin were my grandmother's grandparents. They grew up next door to each other and were childhood playmates. My grandfather's dad was Harry Lea Heskett, who led a very different life. Had at least two children and lived all over the country. What would you like to know. I have a photo of Ambrose and siblings. He was known to play the violin quite well. He was married to Marjorie Fern Johnson in Center, ND, divorced and then married to Marie G. Cairns of Council Bluffs. He wanted to move to Minnesota and she didn't, so he later died in International Falls.

Yes, Benjamin Adam Heskett and Nancy Nevin are listed as Levi's parents in Grandma's records. Nancy Nevin was the second wife. The first wife was Catherine Palmer, mother of Norval Valentine.

Grandma got her info from author Diana Wynne and Rev. Benjamin Adam Heskett of Worthington, OH many, many years ago.

Correction: Catherine Palmer's middle initial was not "D." The D was in reference to her death date as being abt. 1805-1810.

She has Benjamin Adam Heskett (the second) died 6-14-1853, possibly buried in Speidel Cemetery, WVA.

She also has Benjamin Adam (the second)born 10/31/1779.

And sorry, (again, the writing is hard to read) but all of Levi's CHILDREN, not siblings were made to get good educations. Levi, b. 1820 married Elizabeth Poulton, of Brown Co. Indiana. My grandma's died was Harry Lea Heskett, son of Ambrose Wolford Heskett and Sara Slevin.

Norval Valentine Heskett is the son of Bejamin Adam Heskett, (the second)and his first wife Catherine D. Palmer. The second wife was Nancy Nevin md. 1-23-1812 in Ross Co., WVA.
Nancy was the mother of Levi. He was the eldest of this union and had to work early on to help support the family, so he was not educated, but all of his younger siblings were educated. My grandma is a Heskett, granddaughter of Ambrose Wolford Heskett. A couple of arrows in her information are confusing, so I can't tell if Benjamin A. Heskett Sr. or Norval Valentine is who she indicates was buried in the Spidel Cemetery, WVA. She got her info from Diana Wynne and Rev.Benjamin Adam Heskett of Worthington, Ohio. Hope this helps !

Grandma thought that Levi's parents were Nancy Nevin and Benjamin A. Heskett. She said she would send me her research from when she went to Belmont Co. (way back when) so I can look over it to be clear. There is always the chance of there being more than one Benjamin, Levi, Matilda, etc. Will post again this week after it comes in the mail.

I'm not sure why, but my first posting was under a different name, but here's what I know about Levi Heskett.

I have a copy of a book called The Heskett History by Diana J. Wynne. In it she states, "Born about 1820, Levi Heskett was the sixth child and second son born to Benjamin Heskett and his second wife Nancy Nevin, but because his older brother William, and his sisters Williby and Dolphine had died in infancy, Levi was the eldest son." I am not sure what her sources were but most of the book appears to be fairly well researched. She does mention that in the 1850 Belmont, Ohio census that Levi, his wife and three sons live next door to Benjamin and Nancy. (Not that that proves any thing.) I have not researched any further due to lack of time and the distance involved.

In a family history written in the forties, there is mention of a letter with proof that Benjamin Adam was Norval's father, but if the letter ever existed, I haven't been able to find where it is.
In Timothy Heskett's will it includes specifically 'my grandson Levi son of my daughter Matilda'. Timothy had a daughter Matilda that later married and Levi could be her son out of marriage or it is possible a son of Timothy married a Matilda and because the son died he wanted to make sure he was included.
I have not found any other information. I do not have my notes with me so this is from memory but the quote is very close.
