My grandmother was a Hesse. She was born in 1886 in Iliff, Colorado. I don't believe that they lived there long. She had a brother named George.

Her father was Charles Louis Hesse, b 1863 in Elk Lick, Ohio, her mother Lavinia Oakley was born in Detroit. Grandfather was John Frederick Hesse, b 1825 or 33 in Nordhausen, Germany, grandmother Reginia Albertine Nelson.

George was my grandfather by Leotha Trauth
married circa 1913. George had a brother "Harry" Henry F Hesse born 1890 in
Spokane, d 1973 in Los Angeles.Sister Florence,Estella & Edna? Father Henry Frederick b Scranton PA 1855.Five sons by Leotha; Jack(my father),Walter,Clarence,Bert
and George(only one still living).

I recently found a photo at an antique mall here in Nebraska, with an Emma Hesse. The photo is marked Butte Montana and was taken at the T.J. Brennan Elite Studio in Butte.
I wonder if she's yours?
I would love to find a home for her!
The picture is faded, but still in very good shape.

I'm curious about where in Washington your Henry died? I'm thinking he's part of the "other" branch of Hesses I know of (but not really about), who are related. Do you know where his parents were from?

I'm looking for connections in/from Jestaedt-Eschwege, which is in NW Hessen, Germany.

Henry died in Olympia Washington while on business there. He and his family were living in Spokane at the time. His parents were from Prussia. Henry was born in Pennsylvania
