Hi I am not related but I just saw your request and thought it intersting. My family is also from Germany my grandpa was the only one of his family that came from the home country. He did bring over a distant cousin but he had a different last name. So we aren't related to any Hessea in the the US. Oh I forgot to tell you my maiden name was Hesse my grandpa's name was Frederick Hesse with a few other names as middle names. My dad was first generation american. His name was Frank Henry Hesse. Just thought I would so hi. We are all located close to Mattoon Illinois but have one cousin away now. Take care.

Hello Kay,

I am currently looking for information on my ancestors. I saw that you have Hulda Hesse listed here. Do you have
any other information on her, as the date she was born is around the date that my great great great grandmother, with the same name might have been born.

I would really appreciate if you have more information on her that you could share with me.

regards,

Hi, i am trying to find information on Edward Fackert and Maria Drechsel. They married somewhere around the 1920's I believe. I am the grand-daughter of these 2. I have no history on them other than Maria Drechsel had a brother Willie and she also may have married another man with the last name Lekat. I had a cousin named Heidi and Diana. I would love to have any information about the families. Thank you!! Sandy

Re: Eliel family from Hesse Germany

I just read your question, posted 5 years ago, about the Eliel family of Hesse. I am descended from that family. They were a Jewish family from Nentershausen and Iba, Hesse. There was a Leib Eliel, alias Ludwig (German name) or Louis (American name). He was born in Nentershausen, Hesse either 12-27-1807 or 1-06-1808, and I think he became a physician. He married Helena Hecht on August 8, 1840 in Nentershausen, and they had 7 children born there, the last in 1853. Sometime after that (1856?) they migrated to LaPorte, Indiana, where Louis was the coroner from 1860 - 1874. He died in LaPorte August 20, 1886. Does this sound like the Ludwig Eliel you are looking for?

My grandmother's sister, Melvina Miller McGown b in Scotland, married a Christian Hesse and lived in Toogoolawah (Queensland??). She moved to Australia, either before or after her marriage, in about 1915. If you have any information on this branch of the family, I would like to hear about it!

Hello,
I'm looking to find information on my grandmother, Breuel Elisabeth. She had two sons, Harold Kisselbach, Wolfgang Kisselbach and Linda (different dad, not sure of last name) Last I knew she was married twice. Albert Kisselbach is one and I'm not sure of the other. Wolfgang died at an early age from diptheria (sp?) I also have always been told that my father lived in Kassel Germany, however, through some research I'm finding that its actually Hesse or Hessen Germany? If anyone could please help me with this in some way I would GREATLY appreciate it. I'm not even sure where to start but can't find anything, not even my dad; Harold Kisselbach. He is deceased and immigrated to the U.S. however my grandmother stayed in Germany all her life and did own some type of coffee shop/restaurant of some sort.
I'm not even sure if I spelled her last name right?
My dad's birth date was 9/23/1941 Died June 1994. Any help, hints, suggestions, leads would be great thank you!

Hi there,

I'm so very sorry for your loss. It's very difficult to lose someone close to you. She sounded like a very lovely woman.

Since our paper went on-line I only do a copy and paste of the obits to help others who are searching.

I'm happy you were not offended by my posting. I've only had one gal call and leave me a message on my machine about posting an obit for a family member, it was a little scary. Trouble was she never left her name or the name of the person in the obit so I have no idea who she was or which obit she was referring to.

Besides her, I've only ever had positive posts from distant family members who were grateful I'd posted the obit as in many cases they'd lost contact with that part of the family.

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Regards,
Margaret
I need recommendations on the information I would request from the archives in Germany. I want to ask for "everything you have" on the town and family names that I am researching!!! I know this is inappropriate. I have been able to research back to my ggggrandparents. I would like to go back further, plus I would like to do lateral research to attempt to connect families in the village. My ancestral village was/is small and the older families have been in the village for centuries. These families have inter-married through the generations. My other interest is to connect lines that are being researched in the US with my line. All the on-line trees have only been able to identify the village at their first layer.

Any assistance on this family appreciated. Believe they had 8 children.

(Gene Lander and David Henry Lander are 4th cousins 2 time removed. Their common ancestors are Henry Lander and Hannah Skinner.)

Gene's father, Bernard Lander, born at Kearney, Nebraska, September 23, 1881, is an electrician. Being the son of a schoolmistress and of a college graduate, we would naturally think that he received a fairly good education. I do not know whether he can write or not. I have wasted several perfectly good stamps on him, all to no avail. I learned in some way that he married a white woman and continued living at Vancouver. It also leaked out that he has two children, Gene, born in 1915 (whether a girl or boy, I do not know), and Virginia, born in 1917.

My SPROSS and WILHELM ancestors emigrated from Hesse-Darmstadt about 1850, and settled in the Toledo Ohio area. Henry WILHELM and Theresa SPROSS arrived 18.May.1850 at New York from Germany on 'Catharina Augusta' out of Antwerp. Her brother (cousin?) Andrew may have arrived earlier. Interested in any information from the German side.

Kenneth Thompson
Moline Acres (north StLouis County) MO

MUELLER/MULLER/MILLER in Lorbach, Hesse Darmstadt

With hard work from a fellow researchers in Baltimore, Maryland we have found my wife's great great grandfather homeplace. Valentin MULLER/MUELLER/MILLER was born in Lorbach, Hessen Darmstadt. He was born there 25 March 1825 and came to the US c 1847 settling in Baltimore, Maryland. He married Mary KLEIBER/GLEBER sometime about 1850. Do not know at this time if he married Mary in Germany or Baltimore. Mary KLEIBER/GLEIBER b 1826 in Hessen Darmstadt. At this time do not know if Mary was also born in Lorbach . Mary's father John was born c 1799 according to 1850 census and he also settled in Baltimore.

Valentin died in 22 Apr 1877 in Maryland and he was survived by his mother, a sister and 10 children. Do not know anything about his mother, siblings or father at this time. Do have information about his children. Appears his mother and sister came to Baltimore area but have not found out when they arrived....yet.

With this information my wife and I have quite a few questions. We are interested in finding out all we can about Valentin homeplace. We are naturally interested in finding out more about his birth, family, parents, siblings, etc. Biggest question is how do we proceed. Where can we find the records, etc. Understood we needed to know the town before we could get any info. Now that we know he was born in Lorbach how can we get additional information.

Appreciate any help, assistance and suggestions. Please contact us at lolasullivan@aol or wsullivw@aol.com

Thank u all in advance.

Walt
