Edward Heywood & Annie Aston

Hi
I am trying to research my family tree, Edward Heywood (1903) and Annie Aston (1904) were my grandparents and i believe had both come from at least 3 generations of living on the canal boats. I have recently ordered their marrage certificate, so know they were both boat people living at Tower Wharf in Chester. Edwards father was called George Heywood and was deceased when they got married in 1929, previously also a boatman and Annie's father was called Thomas Aston again a boatman.

If anyone can offer any help or information into where i could find the history of the boat people i would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Looking for Lynne N Heywood (or any children she may have had), who married Dennis G Ball in Wandsworth in 1972. Dennis was born on 28th March 1944 to Maud A Wolsgrove and Peter Phillip A Ball in Portsmouth. Sadly Dennis died at the age of 59 in June 2004 again in Portsmouth. I am related to Dennis' grandmother, Christine (Chrissie, Christina Maud) Godfrey and would grateful if there are any relations of his out there who can give me any information, however small.

W.W. (Waldo Webster) Heywood was my great-great-grandpa. My family records show that his second wives name was Amanda Pannebecker, but that could have gotten mispelled or mistaked through the years. They were married on December 24th, 1885 in Ironton, MO. I just started researching my family tree and came across this post. Are you from the Pannebecker side?

My maiden name was Heywood. I am the eldest daughter of Ronald Heywood born in Brisbane Qld. His Grandfather emigrated to Australia from Lancashire and I understand that he was a ship Captain. At present I am working in remote Australia as a Nurse Consultant and do not have family history with me but would be interrested to follow up, as my fathers family mostly still all live in Brisbane. My father is still alive and is 82 years old living in south western Queensland.

Samuel Heywood and John Heywood from Boston Massachusetts

Looking for any information on Heywood family from Boston. The only thing I can find that they exist is from 1870 US census as follows:

Name: Samuel S Heywood
Birth Year: abt 1835
Age in 1870: 35
Birthplace: Massachusetts
Home in 1870: Boston Ward 8, Suffolk, Massachusetts
Race: White
Gender: Male

Samuel S Heywood 35
Sarah Heywood 35
John Heywood 13
Samuel S Heywood 11

I am at a loss as to finding anything further on this family.

All I know is John Heywood came to Australia (not sure when) and married Ellen Mullin. All their children were born with surname of Heywood but all their death certificates say "Henry". Not sure yet why the change in surname.

John is the Great Grandfather of my husband. I would love to be able to find out more. Can anyone assist?
Thanks,
Paula

Heywood

We are looking for information about my grandmother's family. Her name was Ethel Alberta Heywood. She was born near Wardsville, Ontario, on January 1st, 1881. Her mother's name was Sarah Amelia Stephens who was born in Cleveland, Ohio, after her family had recently moved from England. My grandmother's father's name was Thomas Heywood. He had a little sister named Jane. It should be noted that my grandmother came from a family of seven children: Alice Louise, Cora, Jennie, Edith Maud, Elizabeth Grace & William Thomas (who were twins), and Ethel Alberta. At one point Aunt Jane Heywood Bury begged her sister-in-law Sarah to take Jennie back to Chicago with her for a year. We suspect that Jane didn't have any children of her own. Sarah agreed to this. Jane kept Jennie longer than one year. Jennie Heywood also called herself Jennie Bury and became a teacher. We would like to gather information on Thomas Heywood's family. Thomas's father was married twice. His first wife died young and then Thomas married his wife's sister, Alice. They had two children. If any of this sound familiar, please respond.
William HEYWOOD (b. abt 1660 Hereford, son of Wm & Mary)1684 Bromyard,Hereford md Hannah "Anne" SLADE (dau. of Thomas & Margery)

On the 13th January 1684 in Bromyard, Hereford, England William HEYWOOD married Hannah SLADE.

They had 10 known children's baptisms in Herefordshire, England:
William Heywood 1681 Kington (no issue), Mary Heywood 1684 Kington, William Heywood 1687 Bromyard (md. 1712 Bromyard to Elizabeth Parry), Anne Heywood 1687 Kington, May Heywood 1690 Bromyard, Susanna Heywood 1694 Bromyard, John Heywood 1694 Bromyard, Thomas Heywood 1696 Bromyard, Hannah Heywood 1697 Kington (md. 1715 Kington to Francis Empson), and Elinor Heywood 1701 Kington.

My William TRISTRAM (b.abt 1688 Hereford-d, 1739 Cwm, Gladestry, Radnor, Wales md abt 1716 an Elinor HEYWOOD. I believe that the above Elinor HEYWOOD (baptized 18 Jan 1701 in Kington, Herefordshire, England) might be Reverend William TRISTRAM'S wife. The thing that bothers me is she would have been about 15 years old from the time of her baptism. William TRISTRAM was a vicar of Norton in 1684, and of Llanvihangel-nant-Melan, Radnor, Wales in 1703-1736. William & Elizabeth Heywood Tristram's daughter my Elizabeth TRISTRAM (b. 1717-d. 1799) was md in 1733 to my John SHEEN (1709 Glascwm, Radnor, Wales-1763 Llanvihangel-nant-Melan, son of Thomas SHEEN and Marie "Mary" DAUNSEY.
(Dauncey/Dauntsey etc;)).

I have some information on each of these HEYWOOD, TRISTRAM, SLADE families, but I need a lot more.

Although I don't have prove, I think Hannah "Anne" SLADE was the daughter of Thomas SLADE (b. abt 1627 Bromyard) & Margarey _?_ who had 4 known children about the time Hannah was probably born: Thomas Slade 1656 Bromyard, Elizabeth Slade 1662 Bromyard, Thomas Slade 1665 Bromyard, Thomas Slade 1671 Bromyard (md an Elizabeth _?_ & a Susannah, had 5 known children).

This Thomas SLADE (b.abt 1627) probably was the son of Thomas SLADE (b. abt 1591 of Holme Lacy and Bromyard) & Katherine _?_. They had possibly 5 known children: William SLADE (b. abt 1620 wife Dorothy _?_), Richard SLADE (b. abt 1625 wife Marie _?_), pos. Thomas SLADE (b. abt 1627), Anne SLADE (bap. 1629), and Elizabeth SLADE (bap. 1634). Anne & Elizabeth were both baptized in Holme Lacy, Herefordshire, England.

The Thomas SLADE (b. 1591)was the son of Richard SLADE & Anne BARROLL. Richard SLADE (b. abt 1562 Hereford) was the son of Richard SLADE (b. abt 1539 Hereford) & Ann TURBILL.

Any help on any of these families would be appreciated.

I believe that I am related to "The Great" Abel Heywood, Chartist, Publisher and 2 x Mayor of Manchester as I am related to a long-standing Prestwich family of Heywoods.

Is anyone else on here researching the Prestwich / North Manchester Heywoods who could shed any light on matters?

I have convincing circumstantial evidence that I am related to Abel, but cannot find the primary evidence to prove the link (I'm related to a Thomas Heywood b. 1791 in Prestwich, which is roughly the time of Abel's father's birth so am speculating that they were brothers but there are an awful ot of Heywoods in that part of Lancashire!)

Thanks in advance

My grandfather's cousins and his aunt, their mother Mary Ann (nee Williams) all emigrated to Utah in the early 20th century along with another brother Harry and sister Elizabeth Louise.

The first three children listed all married (John Owen to a Rosina Singleton, Edwin to a Mary Robinson, Margaret Helen to John Saint Smith) and had children. Edwin, Harry & John Owen Heywood moved to California at some stage, though John Owen is buried in Utah.

I'm trying to track down any USA relatives. Can anyone assist?

As you may know, Heywood is a small town about 15 miles from Manchester and from what i can gather the town was presented to the E'wood family about 1000 years ago (the E'woods having French origins) by a man called Adam De Burgho(?). Adam owned the town of Bury which is right next to Heywood - try googling maps of the area.

A large portion of my research has been on the iternet (70%) so i recon you could find the same info to.

I'm sure i've also found 'Heywood' the playwright too but as of yet, i'm not able to tie him into my tree (more research needed by me!!). I read somewhere that this particular Heywood was around at the time of William Shakespear (and they may have been friends/colleagues) but i've not followed it up too much until i make my own link through to him. I also remember reading somewhere that Thomas Heywood may have actually written some of the work atributed to Shakespear himself!!!.

There' are several Heywood's that pop up in British history that i've found that you will find if you check out my previous posts on Ancestry.

Peter Heywood -HMS Bounty
Peter Heywood - Captured Guy Fawkes
Thomas Heywood - Playwrite
Oliver Heywood - Poet
Abel Heywood 1810–1893 - Publisher
Heywood's Bank - Owned by 2 Heywood brothers in Liverpool and started with funds raised through the slave trade.

I'm sure there are a few more but until i find direct links to them in my own tree, i don't have the time to pursue them.

Good luck with you research.

I spoke to my dad last night and here’s what he could remember. Hope it’s of use to you.

His Granddad was Thomas Heywood (18??-19??). Thomas had brothers and at least 1 sister (Rachel b late 1800’s). For some, unknown reason, Rachel went to the USA when she was about 12. Nobody knows why or why it was just her and no other members of her family.

Rachel went to live in New York where she had an aquarium shop before she retired to Florida. Rachel also had a daughter named Fanny. Fanny was possibly married to a medical professional.

I've not been able to find any records for her as yet but the link to the Fentons is also in my family tree.
Hope this is of some use to you.
Hi
I live in Montreal Canada and several years ago I bought a victorian baby carriage in an antique auction. On the front there is a small plaque engraved"The Heywood".
So I believe it used to belong to a Heywood family.
Not sure if they lived here in Quebec Canada but I am about to sale it and thought I would first search for someone in that family tree who might have an interest in it
not that I want to make money as I only sale it for 200 dollars and I paid 375 for it.
if anyone wants a picture feel free to write to me; but the item is quite huge though and would be really hard to ship
but just in case I thought to post something
Thanks
Francine
My great-grand uncle is Edward, so one further generation back, I think. It took me a long time to track him down from slim family information and I really don't know anything about him other than he was a dentist. Do you know anything about them?

Hi. I was surprised to have a response to my post given that it's been 5 years or more! My (half) Grand-Aunt, Della R. Stone, was his wife. I believe that they married later in life (I've never been able to find out where and when they married)and they had no children. My copy of his death certificate says he was 61 years, 11 months, 15 days old when he died on 4 May - wouldn't that make his death date 19 May, not 19 June? What is your connection?

Edward was born 19 June 1864 in New Bedford Ma and died 4 May 1926 Belmont, MA. I do not know when they married - that would be another search. How are you related to the Lincoln's ?
Hi,

I have found a connection to the Spedding family ... Peter Heywood married Elizabeth Spedding, and had several children (one being Peter Heywood of HMS Bounty). Elizabeth's father was James Spedding.

I still have no connection to Lancashire, but think there will be a branch, as I have traced the Isle of Man tree back to 1100 ad.

If you find any branches, please let me know ... and I'll be happy to hear of any connection to Robert the Bruce ...

Regards

Carl Heywood

Did you ever find that link to the Isle of Man from Lancashire?

I've found a link from the Heywoods (in the Isle of Man) to the Spedding family (on www.ancestry.com). That family, by marriage, go back 100's of years and link to the likes of Robert The Bruce, King Harold (arrow in the eye), Ethelred The Unready and many more characters going back to viking times. (i still need add it to my tree and to substanitate much of it using www.thepeerage.com).
