Sorry. I do not know the names of the parents. I only know that Emiline Highsmith of Illinois showed up in my Byford line. The way that I am related to the Byfords is that my mother's maiden name was Byford.

I might be able to help if you could give me the parents names. I just check my Highsmith tree and do not have an Emiline in my tree. She could be the child of someone in my tree. I don't always have children unless they pretain to my line.

I do have a connection to the Highsmiths of Illinois. I have a ggggrandfather who married Emiline Highsmith, who was born in around 1827 in Illinois, according to an 1870 census in Iowa. My maternal grandfather is Francis Byford, who was born in 1898 and married my grandmother, Agnes Moran. Would love to connect with my ggggrandmother's relatives.

If you're still on the boards -- I see you have his death info on your tree.

Have you tried to order his death certificate? That could have his parents' names on it.

There are restrictions on ordering, though. Here's more info:
http://www.health.ny.gov/vital_records/genealogy.htm

I am a descendent of John Powell who came to Jamestown around 1607. He was on the ship, Swallow. The lead ship, Sea Venture is shipwrecked off the coast of Bermuda and I went there this year to do research. I would love to exchange information with you. John Powell had two sons, William and Thomas. William was a captain. My cousins and I have traced John's lineage back to Wales.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I am searching for information on my family. My father is David Joe Highsmith and I believe my grandfathers name is Jasper Noah Highsmith (Jack Highsmith). I also think I remember mention of an uncle named Carlton Highsmith. Due to a divorce we were separated from my paternal side when I was very young, and I would really like some information if anyone can help me.

Yes, I would like that very much.I never got to know much about Kige,Because when Irene was in a bad wreck and had to have a wooden leg he left her.My granddad h.m. didn't get to know him until years later. So anything if possible that i could possible have copies of would be greatly appercaited.
As i now have a child of my own and want her to know everything weather it be good or bad about our family history.

Milkige Higgie (Kige) Highsmith born 1882 and died 1966 I believe he would be your great grandfather. I have him married to an Irene Guest and the father of Higgie Milkige Highsmith. Higgie was the father of Higgie Joe. Please correct me if I have this wrong. I have done research of this Highsmith family for 20 years. I have death certificates and census records to prove most of it. I really want to communicate with you. I knew Uncle Kige when I was a little girl of about 10. He would ride a horse up to our house to vist his niece, Agnes Highsmith Reavis.

Elizabeth Turner Highsmith was my great grandfathers sister. Ben I have the names and dates of their children and some grandchildren. I would be grateful to receive any info from you I could about your family. I am at my wife's office right now so all I have with me is what is in my head.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Adam Turner and Letitia Hunter. Adam's sister Deborah Turner married Ahijah Highsmith in what is now Troy, Lincoln county Missouri. Ahijah was a ranger in the war of 1812. His family went to Missouri with Daniel Boone.
Adam's father (Winslow Turner I) moved to the Troy, Missouri area (st. Louis) in 1800 from Scituate Mass.
Elizabeth was born in Bastrop County. She was my great great Aunt and my 1st cousin 3x removed. I have been to Adam Turner's homeplace. Deborah Turner and Ahijah had property originally along the Colorado River with other family members. The Cottle's Turner's, Highsmith's and Woods' crosesed the Sabine river into Texas on December 24, 1823. Adam and Deborah had a sister who died about 1846 or 1848 i can't remember. She was Sarah Turner Cottle. Her land (4,428 acres) is now Bastrop state park. The Lost Pines. Ben and Elizabeth lived in Bastrop County until about 1880. They moved one other place until they arrived in Utopia. Ben has a marker placed by the state of Texas in 1936. He died Nov 11, 1905. Ben had been married once before I think. Elizabeth was only about 18 when she married Ben but he was 36.
Let me here from you and I will send more info at that time.
