Hi,
My gr. grandfather Jesus Hiquera is listed in the 1920 US census as living on the Yuma Indian Reservation. Looking for relatives or anyone who knows anything about the reservation.

Hi. My great great Grandmother was also an Higuera. Her name was Custodia Higuera and I believe she was born in 1854 in Contra Costa County. All the Higueras in CC and Alameda Counties seem to be related some how. Does your family have any later connections (around 1880's or so) to Livermore? Have you checked both the Contra County and Alameda census data for 1860 for your family? I would look at both since things weren't exactly orderly back then.

Manuel Higuera was my brother-in-law. They are from the Los Angeles area. I knew Manuel before he went into the service. I later married his younger brother Tony Higuera.

Bay Area Higuera's

I've run into alot of trouble researching the Higuera side of my family.
I found my great great grandparents, but can't get any further than that.

My great great grandparents were Eutico and Caroline Higuera. Both born around 1862 in or near Contra Costa County, California.

If anyone has any information on this family, I would really appreciate you sharing it with me!

POW/MIA Korean War, HIGUERA

I am searching for the families of a soldier with the surname HIGUERA that were lost in the Korean War. At this time the government has no family contact. At the time he was lost his remains were not recovered. Family DNA is needed to identify remains if and when they are recovered. At the time they entered service they gave their Home of Record as posted below

Soldier: RNALD JAMRS HIGUERA
Born: 1932
Date of loss: Nov. 6, 1951 MIA
Home of Record: Contra Costa, California

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. Our government has no family contact for this soldier.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

He was born Aug. 4, 1906 in California. His mother's maiden name is Kessell. He died Nov. 16, 1964. In 1956 he resided in Union City, Ca.. . .

In Union City he resided at 627 Second Street.

My ggrandmother was ISABELLE (Lizzie)she married CRUZ JOHN CERVANTES. She was born in LIVERMORE, ALAMEDA, CA as were EUGENE, LAWRENCE, MARY(she married unknown Felix (2 sons), had a child with ANTONIO PARRA (1 son), and unknown Dodson(?). Until I found this listing, I was not aware of any other siblings. I am pretty sure that the FRANCIS mentioned here married EUGENE PARRA, brother of ANTONIO PARRA.

I would really appreciate any help or suggestions.

Hi. I'm actually looking for anything before custodia...have you been able to find anything since this post? I'm doing a big project on land grants-do you have any info? Custodia would be my great-great grandmother and my aunts do remember my great-grandma Isabelle (grandma Belle) talking about her. She was apparently small and had very strong native american features. I can ask for more info about her. You can contact me if you have any questions or info. thanks!

I'm a Higuera toooooo!!!!! my grandfather, Frank was the son of Frank who was a son of Pedro and Delores Higuera. My grandfather's parents were Virginia Soto Higuera and Frank Higuera. My grandfather's siblings were Tom, the butcher, James , Virginia, Lora and i think Eva. I was born and raised in Rodeo and left to Sonoma County in 1969. I wish i would have paid more attention to the old stories when I was younger.
