Hi, im trying to trace my family history but my family last name is spelt 'Hillaire' and originate from the caribbean mainly Trinidad and Grenada. Im not getting anywhere and all i find are families with the last name spelt "Hilaire" but they are from the same areas which is confusing me. Maybe we just added an extra "L" haha. But i know my last name came from somewhere in France too.

My grandfather, Emile Hilaire (same name as his father) moved to US in early 1900's...there were 12-13 children. I have been in contact with two of my second cousins (once removed)...their grandmother was my grandfather's sister. I too would like to know more about the Hilaire's in France. I hope to travel to France in the next few years to visit & would like to meet some Hilaire's. Having said that, I don't speak french, so it might not be very easy to communicate.

Jackie Hilaire

Maybe we can help each other out. I am looking for information on my mothers side of the family. My mother's name is Rose Mary Helaire. She had a brother named John Helaire who died in the service on July 1973. My family is from Youngsville, La. We do have Native American Ancestry that could go as far as Oklahoma. My mother, Rose, had a mother named Mable Hilaire. She spelled her name Hulin on her birth certificate because she could not read and write. Mable's mother's name was Leontine Hilaire. If you can shed some light on all of this, please e-mail me or write us at 205 Townhome Loop Lafayette, La. 70501.

Thankyou.

I ama looking for information about Mable Helaire/Hilaire/Hulin. She was a resident of Youngsville, La. Her mother's name was Leontine Hilaire. Mable had two children named Rose Mary Helaire and John Helaire. Mable died when Rose was about one year old. She was said to have died of Tuberculosis. No one has ever told my mother where her mother is buried or where her family is or lived. I do know that we have Cherokee and/or Blackfoot Indian heritage. Mable's last name is spelled Hulin on her birth certificate because she couldn't spell. Rose, my mother, was born in March of 1950. If any one you know has any information you can contact me at my e-mail address or writ to me or ROSE at 205 Townhome Loop Lafayette, La. 70501.

Thankyou
