I believe it is the marriage document of 1885 that shows Michael Nampa's name as Mikkel Ylinampa. Ylinampa is the name of a town in Finland. He became a naturalized citizen in 1890 and had changed his name by then.

I am a descendant of Hilda Liimatta, whose second husband was Andreas (Andrew) Felix Hilden, b. 11/30/1883 in Finland. Hilda and Andreas were married 11/30/1907 in Calumet, MI. From there I believe they moved to the Detroit, MI area, but that's where they're "lost". Does any of this relate to your cousin's mom? Does she know anything about Hilda or Andreas/Andrew?
Thanks

I'm trying to find out what became of Andreas (Andrew) Hilden (b. 1883 in Finland) and Hilma (Hilda?) Liimatta (b. 1886 or 1890 in MI), whom he married in 1907 in Calumet, MI. His mother was Matilda Hilden and his brother was August Hilden (Sr.). He later moved to Detroit, MI and became a U.S. citizen in 1931. From there, he and his wife seem to have gone missing. Any help will be appreciated.
Jim

Hi it may be possible that they are connected with the Hoffs from MN who settled in Chippewa Ca., Minnesota. They moved to north Dekota. Peder Hilden was related. If memeory serves me. Anyhow you will definatly find hoffs in the Minnisota Historical sociaty archive under birth and deaths. They trace back to pedar in norway. Key nme for Aoff Connect. Anna & Ole Hoff Battle Lake Otter Trail Mn. I have about 6 handwitten clues on this family. Was trying to tie them into my family since you can find them in all in the 1880 cencus of Chippewa Co. MN. It looks like Peter in this cencus may be the uncle or cousin. Let me know what you find out.

Maria Matilda Hilden and Michale Nampa were married on 29 Aug 1885 at Quincy Mine and settled in Trap Rock at one point. I have a lot of information on the family and would like to compare notes.

Rose-Marie
I am also related to the Hilden family of Kemi. Please e-mail me so we can see if there is any connection. My great great grandfather was August Hilden (b. 1864, Kemi) who came to Calumet, Houghton Co., Michigan, around 1888.

His father was unknown and his mother was Matilda Ulrika Nakkula-Hilden. Her mother was Ulrica Elisbeth Hilden who married Olof Nacku/Nakkula and all of their children adopted the Hilden last name as it was more prestigous since it originated with the church family of Matthias Hilden.

Obit came out today for Norma Jean and wanted to add to message - she went to college in Winona, MN and came to California in middle 1950's where she taught at several schools in the San Bernardino area, including Golden Valley Middleschool where she taught English and directed the school choir; Eisenhower High School and Curtis Junior High where she taught language and history. She does have a cousin living in the Winona area and her ashes will be buried in the family plot in Woodlawn Cem. in Winona, MN.

Norma Jean Hilden, age 74, passed away on August 28, 2004. She was a retired teacher with the San Bernardino School District. She had never married and had no children. I knew her because she lived in the senior complex where I live. She loved cats and had a kind heart for everyone. She was born in Winona, MN. She has a brother, Robert Hilden, who lives in Berkeley, CA - I dont know if he has a computer. Just wanted to let people know from that area that she passed away.
