Greetings. I am a descendant of a Jacob Hiller, also from this area of Pennsylvania. Jacob was born in 1797 and married, married an Elizabeth Baum and later moved to Ohio. Does anyone have any information regarding this Hiller or his parents?

Hello Warnell, my name is Lee Fred Hiller Jr. and I was born in 1947 in Chicago. I know Fred Thomas Hiller, Phil Hiller,Michael and Alan Hiller. Phil was my father's brother. Phil Hiller owned a Funeral Home in Chicago. I rode in that black hearse many years ago. I remember a seat that came up out of the floor I thought that was so cool. My daughter is having our first Hiller Reunion on September 2,3 and 4th of 2011 in Gary, Indiana. I have a complete list of our ancestors with pictures of Fred Hiller and Virginia Witherspoon Hiller who were married on January 22, 1901. They are my grandparents and yours!
My Daughter's name is Jokima Hiller and she is on facebook. If we do not get enough people interested in this reunion it will be cancelled. So Cuz I hope you can make it!

Hello! Glad to hear from someone on this line. I haven't been able to go past Daniel and Rachel. Did find that Rachel's maiden name may be Bumbgardner? Do you have info abt this, date of birth, marriage or death? They were from Pa were they not. Do you have marriage date & place for John M. and Elizabeth? I have found some info on their children, really lacking though when it comes to George W. Davis. Do you have anything about him? When my grandfather listed John M.'s children, he mentioned an Esther, but didn't indicate whether she was Elizabeth's child or John M.'s first wife, Sarah's child. I have found nothing at all about Esther. I would be glad to share any information I have about the other children. Thanks for answering my query and I would love to hear from you again.
Marvin Hiller, b. 1891, NY, d. 1984, FL

Searching for info on Marvin Lewis Hiller, b. 7 Jul 1891, Rochester, Monroe Co., NY (OR Clyde, Wayne Co., NY), and d. 15 Nov 1984, Dade Co., FL, probably N. Miami. He is the son of Christopher and Cora Belle (Foote) Hiller.

He is my mother-in-law's uncle, and she would like to make contact with any descendants.

Marvin used to live in Rhode Island and was a machinist at the Torpedo Station in Newport. I have him in the 1920 census there (unable to locate him in 1930), and he was still in RI when his son Robert married Diane Kacena in 1952. (I also have his WWI and WWI draft registration cards, as well as his application for a SSN.) Do know his wife's first name was Elizabeth ("Betty") but have no idea what her maiden name was.

The only death info I have been able to locate is SSDI and Florida Death Index through Ancestry. I do have, courtesy of genealogybank.com, a brief death notice, which reads: "HILLER, Marvin, 93, of North Miami. Private services, Lithgow North Miami Chapel." That's from The Miami Herald, dated 17 Nov 1984.

I posted to the Dade Co., FL message board, where someone checked for me and couldn't find anything on him other than the death notice.

If anyone is related to Marvin L. Hiller, we would love to make contact. My mother-in-law is the daughter of Neal and Gertrude (Hiller) Thomas.

Any advice or suggestions? I'd appreciate whatever help I can get :)

Please feel free to contact me directly at mpike@rochester.rr.com.
Hello - I have many South Carolina Hillers in my tree. The most recent is my great, great grandmother, Susannah M. Hiller, born March 9, 1845, SC, and Died Feb 19, 1924 in Lawrenceberg, Tenn. There is a John Samuel Hiller, 1761-1810, who married a Nancy or Mary Wise or Weiss, who also seems to be mixed up in my tree. My Great Grandmother, Lillian Lee Derrick, seems to be descended from Hillers on both her mother's and father's side. Do any of these names look familiar to you?

I am looking for a John or Joseph Hiller. Born about 1829 in Germany, and lived in New York and Indiana. He died in the Civil War. His widow was Christina - Children are Mary, William, Emma, and Eugenia (Jenny). I have found the family in the 1870 Census without John/Joseph. Christina got re-married in 1869, and I have found that. I have searched before 1850 and can not seem to find them in the census.

Hallo,

I am researching the Name HILLER in the Posen area since some years. Your ANNA LOUISE KRIEGER was born 1st Jan 1800 in Jankendorf, Posen. Her mother was ANNA ELISABETH HILLER, born about 1770.

In the "Netze District Land records 1772" can be found:

Last Name First Name(s)Town Government Office
Hiller Johann Jankendorf Czarnikow-2-225

Jankendorf (Sokolowo Budzynskie)in named in the book: Maas, Walter. Siedlungen zwischen Warthe und Netze. Historiche und Sozialgeographische Studien. Wissenschaftliche Beiträge zur Geschichte und Landeskunde Ostmitteleuropas. J.G. Herder Institut Marburg/Lahn 1976 page. 410, as Jankendorf Hld. (Hauland) and was already mentioned in the 16th century.

From an old map: Netzedistrikt. Engraving without title, K. Ponheimer, about 1810, I looked up the nearest churches.
Jankendorf, Kr. Kolmar, was situated next to Budzin / Budzyń. Catholic churchbooks for Budzin / Budzyń are preserved since 1771 and protestand churchbooks since 1781. In the catholic churchbook Budzyń (birth, marriage, death 1771-1812) and the protestant churchbook Jankendorf (birth, marriage, death 1781-1793) no JOHANN HILLER can be found. Perhaps he was registered in another protestand church like Stróżewo (Kirchdorf), some kilometeres northwards. Until now I did not look that up.

I am interested in the remaining of ANNA ELISABETH HILLER and GOTTFRIED KRIEGER. Perhaps I can combine this with other data.
Hi! Are you still out there?! My name is Makisha Hiller - I am 34 years old and I am originally from Chicago, IL. My father's name is Michael B. Hiller (Chicago, IL) and his father was Filmore L. Hiller, Jr. (Pine Bluff??, AR) and his father was Filmore L. Hiller, Sr.- I don't know much about the Hillers either and have been wondering for many years. I know my Grandfather had brothers but I've never met them (and I'm sure they have had children too.) From what I've heard many of them live in California. I only know my immediate Hiller family (there are about 10 of us) but I know there's more. I hope this finds you (I see it was MANY years ago that you posted this) and you reply.

Thanks!

My Hillers came from Alsace, France abt 1858 to New York. Spent some time there and PA then on to CA. Most of them e spent most of there life in the gold feilds of Northern Ca and had dairy farms in Humboldt County, Shasta County, other County's north of San Franciso, CA. They married German wifes, and there are lots of decends on the west coast. I have done some research, but haven't been able to connect with Ny, Hillers or the Alsace, France contection. I haven't been able to find the town in Alsace France from which they say they have come from. Also connected with the Javis from San Franciso area.

Hi,

Cannot recall if we have chatted. If we have forgive me! I have done a fair amount of Hiller research. My tree is listed under Ancestry.com. Feel free to check it out and use any info that you do not have. Since this is an older message, you may have already found out a fair amount of information. What has peaked my interest is the old picture of Aaron and his wife. I was wondering if you might scan it to me? Husband decends from Josiah, Aarons brother and no one in the family seems to have a picture of these "early" Hillers! Thank goodness for Ancestry.com and all the wonderful researchers out there!

If you chose to, my email address is Violets^00@aol.com.

Thanks so much,

Linda Hiller

I have only been to the Hiller Cemetery and hope to look through the other cemeteries in southern Il some day.

I was looking through some research things on roots web and found that you had a listing for a Edward Hiller in Idaho in 1917. I don't know if this is the same Edward Hiller that I am tring to find in that year or not.
The Edward Hiller that I am looking for was born in Michigan around 1868. His mothers name was Waty(Howland) Hiller and his father was James Hiller who died in 1868.His mother remarried in 1873 to John W. Luther. My Edward Hiller I know died in Minnisota in I think 1946.
I lost track of Edward and Waty after around 1882 when they lived in Michigan, Edward shows up again in the 1930 census in Minn. so I don't know where he was in those years in between. I never did find his mother or John Luther.
Just to clarify the Edward that I am looking for had a brother who stayed in Michigan and his name was Clarence and he was my great grandfather. Please let me know if this sounds like it could be the same Edward Hiller(his actual name was James Edward Hiller but he went by Edward Hiller.
Thank You
Darrel Brocker
duby9875@yahoo.com
Hello --

I am researching an OTTMAN family in NYC and wonder if they might be connected to your line?

1880 NY Census for Manhattan shows a family living at the address of 266 E. 15th Street. The head of the family is EMELIE OTTMAN (40) and her 2 daughters, JULIA (17) and LOUISA (8). She has 2 nephews and 1 niece living with her -- LOUIS PORR (22) and ADOLPH PORR (17) and the niece is ANNA HOCHSTEIN (21).

LOUIS PORR married into my mother's side of the family which is my primary interest.

From another researcher's notes it seems that LOUIS PORR's mother, ELISABETHA OTTMAN, was a sister to EMELIE. Her husband was JACOB PORR, father of LOUIS and ADOLPH. They were from the town of Kusel, in Bavaria, Germany.

Thanks.
Joan Brown Derry
MDMama2841@aol.com
