On the Russells of Alabama...if you do not have any info on the Russells check with the Alabama Power Archives for Lake Martin, Alabama. One of the Russells (ESQ.) worked the contract for the Alabama Power CO. and the WPA Govt. Dept. I was told by an archivist that Mr. Russell took his wages in land holdings. That is why half of the Lake is owned by the Alabama Power Company and half by the Russell Compnay. I cannot verify the accuracy of what I was told. Just FYI. I would check Tallapoosa (Dadeville)and Elmore County records and the Alabama archives in Montgomery. Hope this helps someone.

Our ancestor was of Plymouth area, and was named Emanuel Hilliard. He was married to Orange Adams; when she passed away he came to the colonies, settled first in the Watertown Masschusetts area and later in Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. Emanuel married second Elizabeth Parkhurst 10 April 1640 in Watertown. The had childen named Timothy,John, Benjamin and Mary. Emanuel died enroute to Boston Massachusetts when the boat he was on sunk (20 October 1657.
I also have a second Hilliard family that first shows up in Grafton County @ 1790 and I do not know where they are from. Timoth born 1742 married Nancy Rand and has two sons Enoch and Christopher. Enoch's grand daughter Millie Leone Hilliard married Emanuel's 6th great grandson Frank Hilliard in Chichester, Merrimack County, New Hampshire in 1896. Willing to share what I have.

You recently contacted me regarding the Rubison family, and I have just sent you a reply... which lead me to this message. I thought you would be interested to know that I also have the name Hillard in my husband's lineage. (Both Rubison and Hilliard) Both names are found spelled many different ways. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Please let me know how you connect to the Hillard name in addition to the Rubison name.

Peter P Hilliard was my gg grandfather and according to what the hand written account says, his father was Adam Hilliard. Everything I have been finding on Peter P who is the father of John Freemont Hilliard indicates his father was name John. Would love some input from some other Hilliard researchers!

There is a big controversy in my Family Tree - was my g.grandmother Elizabeth Hilliard or Elizabeth Elliott? She was born 1847. Married Charles Ash - Marriage Cert. states Elliott as do most of the childrens Birth Cert., however one states Hilliard and have made contact with a member who is adamant she was a Hilliard! The family lived in Bethnal Green. Her father was John Hilliard/Elliott.

Hi,
Aussie royalty. Interesting. You might have better luck if you can give a few more details. Presumably you would know how old he was. Hilliard/Hillyard is a Huguenot name. Most of the Hillyards left France and emmigrated to England/Ireland/USA in the 1600-1700's. Many were in the lace industry. see -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huguenot --. A large number settled in Bedfordshire and also London (which had a distinct Huguenot area). If he was sentenced in Essex, then I would start searching there. Be sure to consider the various spellings of the name as you will note from records of the time spelling varied from record to record. If you have his age eg born abt 1790, then search for all Williams with in a 5 year span either way. See if they continue past 1809 in England then eliminate those and concentrate on the ones with no records after 1809. You might also want to check out an Essex genealogy website and see if someone from the county could check to see if there were any records on a William Hilliard. I don't think there were a lot of Hilliards in Essex, so eliminate those possibilities first. You might want to check into his occupation as well. Although it doesn't seem to be listed in the court record, possibly he would have taken up a similar trade/occupation in Australia.

Good luck. Hope you find him.

I just recently began researching the Hilliard line of my family. I believe that I may be descended from William Hilliard b. 1614 through a daughter. I'm looking for any information on his wife and children as well as his parents.

All of the information I have is from other member trees and hasn't been properly sourced. I'm in the process of sorting through what I have and verifying it. Many member trees have Anthony Hilliard's parents listed as Nicholas Hilliard & Alice Brandon (a niece/grand-niece of Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk) but I have yet to confirm this either.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Brittany Pearson

Hillard/Head

I'm hoping someone out there could help me out. My great grandfather was James Henry Head. Now I have come to find out through some family memebers that his mother was a Head. I do not have her name. That his father was a Hilliard, again do not have his name. I do know that he had listed some brothers on a family bible as John Hilliard, Duey Hilliard, Huey Hilliard and a Hiriam Hilliard, spellings may be off. I was hoping maybe to find someone on the Hilliard side that may have some answers. James Henry Head DOB 3/15/1876 DIED 10/8/1947 Jessup, GA. If anyone could help I would appreciate it very much.
I'm looking for information on my father's family and his children. My father Wilford Raymond Hilliard was born July 17th, 1951 in Jackson MS. He passed away in 2002 in King County, WA (Renton area?). He is buried in Crystal Springs, MS. I believe that his parent's were Luther and Mabel (?) Hilliard.

As far as I know he has three children, including me, their names are Rachel and Sicily (SP?).

I would love to get any information on his family past and present.

Many thanks,

Chanelle

HILLIARDs from PA

I'm looking for information about the Hilliard's from mainly Butler county/Armstrong county area, PA. I can't get past Simon Hilliard, born 1826, married to Phebe Ann Howard (1st wife. 2nd wife being Lydia Ann Beals) and fathered Oliver Thompson Hilliard. This is my line. He later on fathered 7 more children (names, I was told, are: Wesley, Phebe Ann, Mary Frances, Lavina, Laura, George, and Stephen Edgar.) "Oliver" had a son named Clyde Albert Hilliard, and Clyde had and a daughter named Mabel Hilliard (married name Boulden), a son named Charles Randolph Hilliard, and later on another daughter named "Dolly" Hilliard. Anyone have any family ties? Or information about this Simon Hilliard? Any proof of relation to the Jacob Hilliard, revolutionary war soldier? or Johan Franz Hilgert from Germany?

Jeff,

Thank you SO much for this information! I am still trying to find the missing link, but have assembled a lot of Hilliard info from the line you mention here and of all of the HIlliards I can find originating in Mt Bethel PA. I did not have dates for Frederick Jr (& i have found numerous John Hilliards too), so I will add these pieces to the puzzle and continue to search - thanks again!

Michele
