ELIZABETH SARAH Hillier
................................................. ( my great grandmother ) born 29/ 2/ 1838 in Wiltshire,England.

Said to be the daughter of John Hillier and Mrs Dennis Hillier ( nee Cooper) who were farmers at Hinton near Chippenham,Wiltshire


Elizabeth Hillier came to Australia on the ship "John & Lucy " in 1857 with her brother THOMAS Hillier and his new wife ELIZABETH Hillier ( nee Winter ) who had been married at the Parish Church Wickwar, Wiltshire 1856 prior to their voyage. They settled in Bega area of the south coast of New South Wales, Australia.

Elizabeth Sarah Hillier married Henry Kranstuyver in 1858

It is said Elizabeth also had brothers/sister

ALBERT Hillier, baptised 25/12/1840

CAROLINE VICTORIA Hillier, baptised 25/12/1842

ALFRED Hillier baptised 7/2/1847

THOMAS Hillier ?????

Hi Sarah!
I know you put up your message quite a while ago but i just read it today. I am related to Hilliers from Newfoundland. My gggg grandparents are Charles and Mary (Pitman) Hillier from Lamaline (Meadow) Newfoundland. He was born in 1793 and she was born in 1806. HI KATIE I THINK I AM RELATED TO YOU SOMEHOW AS MYGGGRANDFATHER MARRIED A PITTMAN .IJUST CHECKED AND FOUND OUT THAT MY GGGGGRANDFATHER EDWARD IS THE BROTHER OF YOUR GGG GRANDFATHER CHARLES BE CAUSE THEY ARE BOTH CHILDREN OF JOHN HILLIER AND DEBORAH

Hi Donald! Great to hear from you so soon. I think we may have missed the connection by a generation.Let me tell you what I know...
Charles Hillier(b.1793 in England) married Mary Pitman(b.1806 also from England).
They had 12 children:
Charles-b.1822, moved to Vancouver, never married
William-b.1825, married widow Jane Pitman (Laskey) Hooper
Capt.Edward-b.1828, married Eleanor Forsey & had 10 kids
Ann-b.1830,married Henry Hickman & had 5 kids (1 survived)
*John-b.1831,married Emma Pitman in 1860, had 8 kids
Mary-b.1834,married Thomas Maddigan, had 5 kids
Harriet-b.1836,married William Purchase,had 10 kids
Capt.Isaac-b.1839,married Jane ?, 3 kids, lived in Halifax
Clarissa-b.1845,married John Hickman,3 kids (1 died young)
Emmanuel-b.1848,married Elizabeth Hooper,7 kids
Robert-b.1850,married Deborah Bonnell,8 kids.Died at 33.

*John&Emma had Charles Isaac,Fred William,Mary Margaret, Clarissa,John Robert,Henry,Ellen,&Ann (b.1870) who married William D. "Angus" MacDuff of Canso, N.S. They had Gerald, Les, Edith(died young),Emma, &Everett (my grandfather).
I know this is a lot but i just want to get things right. We live in Centreville, Kings Co., Nova Scotia, but still vacation in Canso every summer where Ann and William put down roots.

katie i have several things here on the hillier family tree if you would be as kid as to email me with your email address to my address i will send you all that i have.
also go to a search engine and type in the hilliers of newfoundland and you will find a lot of information. i know they have john hillier 1793 and i do believe charles was his brother

MY grandfathers name is frank hillyard and greatgrandfather william hillyard and I think was married to a olive perkins. the name they say was changed to Hillyard after a argument so it might have been Hillier before that and they came from England

Just in the vain hope your are still active........
My south aussie Hillier starte with edith esther who married
John charles Gibbs in 1889. the line then goes back through a succession of Nathaniel Hiller's( her father and then her grandfather) her brother was even a nathaniel hillier............. any touc on your hillier's is there Kylie???

Hi Sarah

An English Hillier at this end.

My grandfather George Hillier departed for Canada in August 1920. He was heading for Toronto as he knew a Charles Branston. That's where I lose track of him.
