Hi Carol, thanks so much for your responce. i've been trying to trace Helen Dodd who was married to William. She is my half sister. She probably wouldn't be aware of me as there is quite an age gap and to be honest i didn't know she existed until i started researching my fathers family tree. I traced them to an address in the UK up to 2004 but after that couldn't find any more so wondered did they go back to the States. Does her name ring a bell with you? thanks again so much for responding. jo

Hi, My Gr,Gr,Gr Grandmother was Elizabeth (she went by Betty) Hilton. She was born in 1815 to Joseph Hilton. we know the father is Joseph because his name is on the marriage record for Betty. I have the 1841 census for Newton-Godly Cheshire England in which Betty and husband John Halcock are on. Also on the same page lists Rebecca Hilton and family. I know that Rebecca and family came to the US in 1844, my family soon followed. My family followed the Hilton's to Illinois and settled in Marshall Co Illinois. I would like to know more about the Hilton side of the family any info would be appreciated. Thanks Terry

I still do have the records on Benjamin Franklin Hilton which consist of the Certificate of Death, Application for Burial Flag, Declaration for Pension and various service records, a total of about 22 legal size pages. I also note that the Topeka Capitol newspaper for June 4, 1935 lists B.F.Hilton as a former Kansas State Legislator born about 1844. He had been a farmer, stockraiser in Osborne county, Ks., a member of the "Populist" part and was in the house chamber in 1895. I can be reached at davidhilton1@earthlink.net

My wife and I visited his and his wife's gravesite along with his father and wife in Cornith, Kansas which is next to Osborn. It was hard to find but we found it. How can I get in contact with you as for the civil war documents mentioned by you? As far as other relatives, a few live in Savannah, Missouri.

For one version you might Google the "Annals of the Hilton-McCurda Family". Google has digitized the text and there is a significant portion early on devoted to William Hilton coming over on the Fortune and his wife and two children coming later on the Anne. It then relates William and his brother's wives movements in and about Dover, NH. It might help.

I'm looking for information about or descendants of a woman named Linda Helton or Hilton who grew up in north Georgia near Ellijay. She would have been about 16-18 in 1910 before moving to Bristol in south Georgia where she married Charlie B. Tillman that October and later had two daughters: Ruby V. and Mary E. I lose track of her after the 1920 Census, but I think she may have lived in California for a while before returning to Bristol, GA and marrying a man by the name of Davis. Malinda Lissie Jane Hilton Tillman Davis is what appears on her headstone, but I'm trying to determine whether she had a husband and children between the Tillman and the Davis. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am not an expert but I have been researching the Maxwell/Winslow family trees. My research has shown that only Edward (the later Governor in the colonies) and his
brother, Gilbert, came over on the "original" Mayflower.
We had a family history that the Maxwells and Winslows had come over together on the Mayflower. However, none of the
passenger lists of the original Mayflower verified that.
Later research on Wikepedia indicated that the Mayflower ship had 2-3 voyages after the original. Perhaps, Thomas
Winslow (whom I had not come across) came over on one of those later voyages.
I just noticed on one of the Message Boards, that a Thomas
Winslow came over in 1621 on the Fortune. Don't know if that is any help.
My mother was member of the DAR through Benjamin Maxwell
(born 17 Mar 1737 in Bedford, MA, Died 2 Feb. 1829).
Benjamin's wife was Anne Winslow (born 1743. Died 28 Oct
1814). My e-mail is pynejack@AOL.com if you care to contact me direct.
