June Hinsdale
June Hinsdale, 90, of Clymer, N.Y., passed away peacefully at Corry Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family on Dec. 12, 2011. June was the wife of Ernest R. Hinsdale whom she married on Feb. 12, 1942. June was born June 1, 1921 in Clymer, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Lookenhouse.
A graduate of Clymer Central School, she was the librarian at the French Creek Library for several years. June was also a teacher’s aide at both BOCES in Ashville, N.Y., and at Findley Lake Elementary School until she retired.
She was a life-long member of Abbe Reformed Church and taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. she enjoyed playing guitar and singing with a group on the radio. June loved to travel with her husband Ernie. After retiring they visited 48 states and many countries including the Bahamas, France, Italy, Holland, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and Mexico.
In addition to her husband, surviving are her children, Darryl Hinsdale (Cindy) of Jamestown, N.Y., Thomas Hinsdale (Patti) of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mary Jane Hinsdale of San Diego, Calif; two grandsons, Aron of Jamestown and Kipton of Brooklyn, a granddaughter, Lisa Hinsdale of Jamestown, and a great granddaughter, Shannon Barr of Jamestown, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brother Jesse Lookenhouse, sisters Treasa Rhebergen and Geneva Cherry and grandson Eric James Hinsdale.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 16. at the Abbe Reformed Church, Clymer, N.Y. Burial was in Holland Cemetery.
Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Abbe Reformed Church, Clymer Sherman Rd, Clymer, N.Y. 14724.

My daughter and I are doing a family tree of Hinsdale, my dads famly. We can't find any information before Lawrence Hinsdale. He was born abt 1877 and was married to Della E. Anthony at one time. If anyone has more info, it would be GREAT!

My fathers name was Roger G Hinsdale and His fathers name was Julius Hensdale, it was told to me that when my dad was growing up he said his name was spelled Hinsdale and when he went to the Army in WWII and came back from the War his dad had changed to spelling his name Hensdale why it was changed in the first place I've never known the reason. So far as I know ???? Julius was Martin's son.

Ephraim Hinsdale's parents were Robert Hinsdale, born 1617, poss Dedham, essex, England, died 18 SEP 1675, at the massacre at Bloody Brook, Deerfield, Mass. He married before 1638 in Dedham, Ann Woodward, believed to have been born in England, and died 4 JUN 1666 in Medfield, Mass. Ephraim was one of eight children. Robert died with three of his sons -- Barnabas, Samuel, and John, in the Deerfield Massacre during King Philip's War. He was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts in 1645. He married a second time to Elizabeth Hawks, but the marriage didn't work out and he was whipped for "living asunder" from her.

Early Mariner Dead.

News has been received of the death at the Lick House in San Francisco of Capt. George Hinsdale, a pioneer of this Coast. The captain came to Santa Barbara first in 1844. His ships sailed from every port, from San Francisco to San Diego. The residence of the deceased was always this city. He was well known here, as is his family. At the time of his death Capt. Hinsdale had gone north on business connected with a line of South Sea sailing vessels, which he owned.

I am looking for ancestors of Harmon (aka Herman) Hinsdale who was born in NY in about 1816. His father was born in Connecticut. He married Fanny Hurd, dob about 1812 in Herkimer County NY. Her father per 1880 census was born in Vermont. He and Fanny lived in Warren County, PA in 1850 with four children, ages 10, 8, 7, and 4.

Anna Hensdale married Richard Wilson in 1822 in Stokes County, NC and then went to Halifax County, Virginia, where she had her firstborn son, Lee Hensdale, in 1824. Still in Halifax County in 1830, but no Richard Wilson. Ann/Anna back in Stokes County in 1840, with several children and an 80 y/o man. Also in Stokes at that time are David and Holister Hensdale. She can’t be found again until 1870, when she is found in Patrick County, Virginia with her son Lee. Her children carry her surname, not Richard Wilson’s. Her son Lee married Lucy Wilson and had children in Stokes County. He then moved and is found in Carroll County in 1850, in Patrick County in 1870 and 1880. After Lucy died, he married Christina Wilson. He died in Patrick County in 1889.
The above information I got from someone else who is looking for Hensdale. I have more to add to the above.
Lee and Lucy also had a daughter Lethia Hensdale who married my ggggrandfather Allen Jones. Some of Lee's and Anna's relatives moved to NY, I think Syracuse and some to connecticut.

Has anyone ever heard of this family? Although listed as white here in other census sometimes they were lised as mullato or colored. In Virginia Indians were not listed as Indians.
They are of mixed race or Indian. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for information about a Hensdale (Hinsdale) family. I have very little info at this time but here is what I know:
Wife was Hattie or Nellie Aldrich Hensdale, probably born in Vermont in the early to middle 1800's. She was living in Denver, CO in 1907 when her father, Joseph Aldrich died there. She may have moved after that to California. I don't know what her husband's name was.
I would like to find any descendants of this family.
