Noted your pages on the John Sullivan Hobart family of Portage County, Ohio. I am searching for parents of William Hamilton Hobart who was born between 1833 and 1835 to a Hobart father from NH and to an unknown mother from Ohio.Have searched all the Hobarts who left Coos and Grafton Counties in NH around 1814. And their offspring.

We know William Hamilton went to PA with Luther Hobart and James Patrick Hobart. Later was a shoemaker/bootmaker with Luther's son Calvin. Any ideas as to who William's parents were? Gayl Mulligan Callis, Manchester, NH

Almost all Hobart families come from Sir Miles Hobart who settled in Ireland when the English went over to subdue the Irish. His descendants settled in County Cork in a place called High Mount, which happens to be on the Tipperary border. I've been doing a lot of research lately on the descendants of Miles Hobart and his grandson William Hobart who lived in High Mount. My own gggfather, Alexander Hobart says he came from County Cork.
There are "2" High Mounts, one on the Tipperary side and one of the Cork side, but it is the same family that goes back to the Earls of Buckinghamshire. If you'd like to join forces, send me an email at dianamuir @ plci.us (Take out the spaces.)

John Henry Hobart was my gr-gr-great grandfather, born in 1829 in New York to Jacob (1805-1871) and Mary (1794-1867) Hobart. He married a woman named Almira but we don't know her maiden name. Likewise, I am uncertain of Mary's maiden name, although I've seen it suggested as Scheuler. While born in New York, they settled in Monroe County, Michigan. If anyone had information about the maiden names of the ladies or knew more about the roots of this branch of Hobarts going futher back than Jacob, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Hi Lea, most posts show the children of Maritn Aubertin and Marguerite Benard to be Martin b 14 Dec 1845, Delima b 27 Dec 1847, Josephine b 5 Jan 1852, Charles b 1754, Georgiana b 1858, Toussaint b 1860. However the there is another, George Aubertin married 3 Jul 1884 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to a Marie Herminie Guindon. Herminie is the 2nd GreatAunt to the person who I am doing research for. The marriage record definitely says that George's parents were Martin Aubertin and Marguerite Benard. George was a resident in Bradford, Vermont. So far I have only the marriage.
http://search.ancestry.ca/iexec/?htx=View&r=5543&dbi...

Sincerely, Barry Smale,
ph 450-465-5679, email barrysmale@videotron.ca

I am wondering if you might be willing to provide any information on the Maurice Toohey you mentioned. Do you have any other details? My Great Grandfather was a Maurice Toohey who lived most of his life in Syracuse NY, but I can not find any background on him. Could this be the same Maurice Toohey?

Taken from the Miami Daily News-Record, Oklahoma, 2 December 1899

Garrett A. Hobart, vice president, died at his home in Paterson, New Jersey, at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday morning. He had been sick a long time and suffered frequently from heart failure, and his strength had been undermined. Mr. Hobart was a noble, generous man. In his official capacity he was a typical presiding officer and deservedly popular and most highly esteemed by all.

The confusion comes (partly) through assuming Jayne" of Heigham" Tyndall & Jane "Heigham" were the same "Jayne".

There is of course, quite a bit more to all of this!

My lineage is through Sir Christopher Mann foregoing, by his possible(?) grandson Richard Mann

Ron Mann

Re: HOBART Thomas the Martyr

The Thomas Hobart who married Audrey Hare was of Plumstede Parva, Norfolk.

Also, Thomas and Audrey had only two sons, Miles and Henry, whose descendants remained in England for several generations.

They are not the parents of James Hubbard. Thomas, husband of Audrey Hare, was not from the family that remained in Suffolk.

Also, Eleanor Blaverhasset/Blennerhasset, was most probably born earlier than 1507, since her father, John, is documented to have been born in 1423.

Actually, there is substantial doubt that James Hubbard was related to the Hobarts at all.

CE Wood

Re: Hobart/Hubbard/Hebert

I recommend that a Hobart researcher start a Hobart surname DNA project, preferably at FTDNA. Hobart project participants opting to compare their results to the entire FTDNA database would be notified if their results match someone in the Hubbard Surname DNA Project.
Currently there is one member of the Hubbard group that claims descent from Edmund Hobart and his DNA matches no one in the Hubbard group...0.17% chance of a relationship within 24 generations.
Recently I've had several queries from Hobart researchers. I don't want to see these folks waste their time and money joining the Hubbard Surname DNA Project at FTDNA. Thus this suggestion.

Craig Hubbard
Hubbard Surname DNA Project
Group Administrator
