Dear Dianne,
Thank you for taking the time to answer me.I have been researching my paternal family since 2007. Unfortunately I know next to nothing about them.
I know that my father was P.R. through his maternal family (DNA test provided this information) Some of the surnames indicated to me are the following :Otero-Arroyo-Matos-Rivera-Miranda-Vazquez-Morales-Avilés-Gonzalez (maternal surnames)possible connection to paternal families Gonzalez and Arroyo from Ciales/Manati and VegaAlta/ Vega Baja.I was given this name Jack Hoffman-Hoffmann possibly,a merchant marine or in the US Navy. I estimate that he was born abt. 1920/1931 Sorry to be so vague.Possibly if any of the information can connect you within your own genealogy I would be interested to know.My family was living at the time (1950's) in Washington heights NY.City their name was Braun
Most Sincerely Mrs.Lorraine Fayet

Hello Dianne,
I would be interested in your Hoffman family genealogy. I see that these parents were,Eugene Hoffman and Angela REYES.Did Eugene have a brother that also married a woman from Puerto Rico? I am wondering also,if one of Eugene's sons was Francisco Hoffmann (Frank?) did any of the brothers use the first name Jack?
Francisco was a Merchant seaman born abt.1910 in Ponce P.R.and lived in Brooklyn at one point.
Did any of the sons have any connection to the Bronx or Washington Heights? As also, perhaps a supposed brother of Eugene?I realize that I am asking a number of questions here.I am researching my paternal family genealogy, which has connections from Puerto Rico.
As you may realize already, Puerto Rican surnames are difficult to research,as they can be interlinked (Puerto Rico being an island).
It would be a great service to me and I would be grateful if you would agree to contact me on this post.
Looking forward to hearing from you
Very, Sincerely Lorraine

I am looking for information on my great, great grandfather, Henry Hoffmann, who was born in Germany, probably in Bavaria, in about 1802 and lived in Manhattan and then Brooklyn and was buried in the Lutheran Cemetery there in 1887. He married a Mary Gink or Zink in Germany but I don't believe she ever came to America. They had at least two children - Henry born about 1835 and Julianna born in 1844. Julianna married a Jacob Damm and all are buried in Lutheran (now all Faiths) Cemetery in Brooklyn. Henry Damm (1835) had daughters that married into Fritsch & Kopler families.

My family immigrated from Alsace France in 1930. They were Frederick and Barbara (Black) Hoffman. One day into the journey Frederick died and they turned around and buried him. Barbara continued on with her children. My ancester was Charles (who had a brother, Myron, and several others). They landed, after 3 months, in Charleston, SC with $1 to their name. They worked there until they made enough money to travel to Baltimore (where they originally intended to land). They they traveled through Pennsylvania and ended up in Ohio. They worked land owned by a Wagner until they made enough money to buy their own land in Elmore. So if you're related to them, you're related to me!

Our Hoffmann's I believe came from the area you are talking about. For us, it was a family of meat cutters. My Great Grandfather's name was Henry Paul Van Hoffmann and he came here around 1893. Later changed name to Hoffman. Perhaps it was also considered Prussia then? Paul came from a Village called Oberscweisen,Germany. There were a lot of border disputes. Would like to learn something of his family that stayed in Germany. He married a Polish gal, Susanna Wieczarch and they came over here together.

Hoffmann's in Holyoke, Mass, about 1890-1910

I am searching for any information regarding an Anna Hoffmann, born about 1872 in Germany. She arrived in New York in 1895, and went immediately to Holyoke. It is believed that a family member may well have already been there at that time.

Anna met a man named Joseph Falzer in Holyoke, and they married about 1987-1904. Not long after they got married, they moved to Saugus, where Anna and Joseph remained.

ANY information about this family would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I am seeking information on Christian Hoffmann in St. Louis, MO, born about 1843 in Switzerland. Married to Wilhelmena Weiland (Wyland). His son John A. (Hans) was my great-grandfather. I have found a census record, but nothing else. Their children were Friedrich, Charles, William, John, Christian, Ida and Bertha. John married Genevieve (Jennie) Hannaman, and founded the Parkview Amusement Co. which became Chain of Rocks Amusement Park. He also worked as a salesman for Anheuser-Bush, ran a hotel and restaurant, and built the original building that later became Ponticello's.

Hello, seeking descendants of Frederick Hoffmann born about 1887 in Germany, son of coiffeur Friedrich Hoffmann and Louisa Berger. He arrived with them in London about 1888 and a few years later the family moved to Belfast, where he lived until his early 20's. He had siblings Charles, William and Louisa. Some time after 1912 he emigrated to New York, where his parents and sister Louisa visited him for 3 months in 1920 when he was working for the US Shipping Board in Cleveland. He may have trained earlier as a hairdresser.

Louisa died unmarried, and Charles appears not to have had any children. My late husband was a descendant of Wiliam. My daughter and I would love to make contact with any other Hoffmann descendants. We spell the surname with two N's but in Belfast the hairdressing business name was spelled with one N.

Oscar Hoffman's mother was Amanda Ferguson Hoffman she married John Hoffman 6-21-1868 in Ohio. They had a son Wallace who married Rachel Guthrie they lived in Benton Harbor,Michigan. Wallace died 6-16-1910. I'm looking for Amanda Hoffman's death certificate. I believe that my GGGrandmother Sarah Ferguson Corl was a sister to her. Hope to hear from you.
