Good Morning! I am totally new to this geneology search stuff, however our family verbal history through the years has said that we have an Aunt Mary Jane (Black) Holliday, born 1848 in Knox County, Missouri, married a Henry Holiday. They had 4 children, Effie Holliday, Tom Holliday, Eber Holliday, and ? Holliday. We understand that this Henry Holliday was a "Southern Gentleman", however, that is about all that is written, or known about him. Mary Jane (Black) Holliday is the younger sister of my Great-Grand-dad Ambrose E. Black of Knox County, Missouri. Hoping you may have some kind of info on this Henry Holliday. Thanks!

I am trying to find a connection to Laurinda Holiday born in Virginia about 1817. She could have been born about 1820 according to census data that shows here married to Daniel Fristo living in Mason County, Kentucky. She died in 1865.

Other names that might be possible are Lorinda and Laura Jane. Perhaps the spelling of the last name is Holliday or Halliday.

Advice and suggestions would be welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Hi Sharon, I'm Valerie Holliday, found your name on Ancestry.com message board. I am researching Hollidays in Pennsylvania, and am searching for info connecting the Hollidays of Hollidaysburg PA with Hollidays of Somerset County PA. Would you be able to help (cemetary info?), or could you put me in touch with your cousin? I'm happy to share what I have, it's mostly info on the Somerset Co. people (from 1803 on) -I found an obit that links them to the Hollidaysburg clan, but I need more direct info.
Valerie

Hi, my maiden name is Morris. I have an Uncle Albert Holiday, and his sister Marie Morris is my grandmother. I think it’s funny that I typed in my uncle’s name and found this. There is a connection between Holiday and Morris. I'm not sure if this has helped you in any way if so let me know. I don't recall hearing anything about a Dorothy, so this may just be a dead end, but a funny coincidence. Don't you think.

I am still trying to figure all this stuff out. I do know that my family goes back to PA in a town called Holidayburg. I met my cousin who did extenive reserch on the Holidays in PA. I have a whole list of who is buried in the family cemetary. She found out that the Holidays originally went from Scotland to Ireland to the US. Some landed in Pa and some in NY. One of my relatives had a hotel in the town but I heard that most of the town is now underwater. I will post again when I can find the paperwork that was sent to me along with the holiday cemetary plot. I do know that they had an argument and some changed their name to Halliday. It all means the same.
My name is Sharon Holiday

John Henry Doc Holliday was born in Griffin, Ga. and is also buried there in an unmarked grave next to his father, contrary to the belief that he is buried in Colorado Springs, Co. The family moved to Valdosta, Ga. His mother and adopted brother died from TB also. His father, who was a pharmacist is also buried in an unmarked grave next to Doc. His uncle was also a dentist and founded a school of dentistry in Atlanta.

Mattie (Holiday) Mandrel

I am looking for my great grandmother, she was born about august 1879., we think in texas, but both of her parents were Illinois or N. Carolina. She married George Benjamin Mandrel about 1896, they had 3 daughters Nettie born 11-13-1897 in Oklahoma, she married Henry Clay Perkins. Catherine or (Kate) born july 1899, she married William Odis Watson. Ruby born about 1902 in texas. We think Mattie Died in 1903 probably giving birth to a 4th child. We were told she is buried in the Wheelock Cemetary outside of Hearne, Tx. There is only one Mandrel grave located the and it reads Mrs. M.E. Mandrel born 11-14-1876 and died 5-31-1903. There is a infant child next to her that reads baby of J.M. Mandrel. I dont know if this is her or not. I would like to know who is buried the this grave and maybe some paperwork attached to it would give light on who her parent are. after her death George Benjamin Mandrel remarried in 1904 a lady by the name of Nettie Mayfair Williams. I have found them all living in 1900 in Navarro co. Tx., in 1910 they were living in Brazos Co., Tx. We were told that Nettie Mayfair Williams did not like the girls Nettie, Kate and Ruby so they were sent to live with relatives somewhere around the Hearne area.
If anyone has any information on where Mattie (Holiday) Mandrel came from as in Parents or maybe siblings it would be greatly appreciated. We have been looking for years.
You can contact me at lbruceharrison@yahoo.com.
thanks so much,
Bruce Harrison
Waco, Tx.

Can someone please provide information about William Holiday, listed in the Putnam Co., GA census of 1830. He would have been born about 1801. There is also a male child 10-14 in the household and 2 young adult females.

I think William Holiday may be the brother of my ancestor Elizabeth Holiday/Haliday, born about 1809 and died after 1880, who married Nathan Smith (b. 1809-d. betw 1870-1880 in GA). There is a William Holiday in Dooly County, GA in 1850 who may be the same person.

Any info regarding these Holidays would be most helpful and appreciated.

I am unable to locate a Zena, Ohio.

Xenia is located in Greene County, Ohio. It is the city that has a history of tornados. The last one being a couple of years ago but the one it is infamous for happened in the 1970s.

Xenia has an interesting history and can be found in the Greene Country Chapter in "Historical Collections of Ohio."
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Ehenryhowesbook/in...
