Although your post is somewhat outdated I wonder if you are still at the same contact? My family has had DNA testing and also a gentleman who believes himself to be from your line, William and his wife. The testing would indicate that there is a connection between the families at maybe that time frame of the 2 families. Our family knows that we decend from a William Holiday b 1764 in Georgia and that his father probably lived in Georgia at least by then and presumably prior to that time. I am wondering if you have any information on your Williams family in County Ireland that might give me a lead to our Georgia roots. Our research problem has been because of the abundance of William Holliday's various spellings and that there were several Holliday families in the time frame we are looking for that lived in Georgia.
I know that near where they lived in Georgia a Quaker community was established so connection could have existed
by that means.
Holliday-Stockett Connection in Maryland

Several women from the Maryland line of Hollidays married Stockett men. I am trying to track down a family tree for the Holliday family that makes sense. Elizabeth Holliday married Thomas William Stockett (or William Thomas Stockett) c.1793. They had two children, Joseph Holliday Stockett and Elizabeth Stockett. Elizabeth Holliday Stockett died when her children were not yet of age. Their father, Thomas William Stockett, remarried and moved to Tennessee where the children were raised. I am looking for Elizabeth Holliday's parents and grandparents.

The children were involved in a law suit in Maryland over the sale of a piece of property named Holliday's Purchase. Apparently, they were heirs, along with their uncle, Samuel Stockett who later moved to Tennessee and then on to Mississippi.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Lois Stockett Lannin

I'm back in research this Sring and will be posting a lot of the notes in my files. I do not have any thing of value referance James Holliday except that he is a sibling of my great grandfather William Holliday born in 1825. William's DOB of 1825 is based on his Civil War Records. He died in MO in early 1862 acording to Civil War Recors. He enlisted in the Union Army in MO in Jan 1862 along with his brother Robert Holliday and Robert's son Cloyd. Robert died in MO about a month before William. I have complete copies of all the Civil Ward Records on these three men. I also have other records I don't have posted to my computer for the siblings of William born 1825.

I have a GG Grandfather named James Holliday. I have been trying to find info on him for months. I don't know who his parents are or siblings. He was born in VA. I have his birthday from family records as 26 Jun 1827, however, in several census records it shows his age and therefore his date of birth at different times. One in 1822, and one in 1825. He married in MS in 1845. But I don't know anything about him before that. Wonder if the James Holliday in your tree could be him? I have his lineage from him down but can't find anything on him going back. Do you have any more info on the James in your tree?

I am a descendent of John J. Holliday born in England in 1872. He immigrated to the US in 1894. He married Jenny (Jennie) in 1897. She was born in England in 1874 and emigrated from to the US in 1897. One of their children was my grandmother Gladys (spelled Gladdis on early census reports). My grandmother was born and raised in Pittsburgh. She married Ross Evan Jones of Pittsburgh. Do you have any info on Pittsburgh Holliday's?

I should say which branch I am referring to. My husband's ggrandfather is Henry Delano Holaday (1860-1924). Henry was the son of George Meacham Holaday (1818-about 1900). Next was William Holaday (1750-1812), then Henry Holladay (about 1725-1800).

The stories I have heard is about the same. Here is what I have been told thru the years.
There was a family, group of brothers, living in Missouri. They were talking of moving so the brothers deceided to go out into the "world" and who ever came back with the best story that is where they would move. When they got back together, they all had good stories so each one of them move to the state they fell for. One went to Calif.,Ga.,Tex. and not sure of the others, think one stayed in Missouri. Like I said this is what has been passed down.

Our family lore is that a group of Holaday or Holliday brothers and their wives were all living under one roof at one time. The wives fought and the family split. They went to different states and some changed the spelling. Does this sound familiar to anyone? (It seems a little far fetched to me but I thought I would check it out!)

That is strange. I have a William Holliday born around 1800 who had a son John born in the 1830's or 40's in New York. They are my GGGF and GGGGF respectively. There is also another William Holliday who settled in St Lawrence, NY from Ballymoney, Ireland who was born the same year as your William. I don't think he is part of my line, though. There has been a lot of confusion on that point. I don't know Carol Holliday, though.

I have a Fred Holliday in my family from northern NY. He was brothr to my great grandfather Norton Holliday, and both are the son of John Holliday, son of William Holliday. They lived in Oswego, NY in the town of Scriba. Fred would have been born in the 1890's. I believe he inherited the Holliday homestead that has since been leveled and where the power plant is now. My records indicate William came over from England and settled in the St Lawrence area of NY. Hope this helps.
