Hi,

I have been researching the Hollywood family that lived in New Jersey and New York in the early 1800s. My Great Great Grandfather is Matthew Hollywood. He had a brother named Joseph and there is a lot of evidence of a Joseph Hollywood in Alameda, CA in the mid-1800s. Do you have any record of a Joseph Hollywood who would have emigrated from Ireland, landed in NY and then headed to California?

Thanks if you can provide any help.

Garrett

My grandma is Ruth, and she was the 11th of 11 children. Must just be a different Martha Hollywood. :) I'm sure your records are correct. Martha Hollywood in my family was very Irish, but when she came?!?!? I don't know. I think I have census records of her as a child coming over. But she was only married once, to a John DuBois. They were married 55 years I think before he passed away. She followed right after.

Hello,
I have some relatives in my mothers tree that are from Dublin, with the last name Hollywood. (interesting!) I would love to know more...without having to travel but I would sure love to go there as well and see where my roots are!
His name is Job Hollywood and had a daughter named Martha born in Dublin and eventually moved to Michigan, Usa and died here in the states...(I am from Michigan) Job and his wife Martha Nannie McLane (from England) could have died in Ireland, I am not sure...or if they have parents from there either as my line stops there...can't find any more reliable info! Any info would be helpful!
Thanks,
Angela
My Grandmother was Mary Hollywood, she married James Carberry of Belfast. She had 3 sons John (my father), Hugh, and James. She also had a daughter Sally McCormick who lives in Lachine,Quebec, Canada. Hamilton Hollywood was her brother. I have gotten her Birth Cert from No. Ireland and her Father was John (Jack) Hollywood and Mother was Agnes Geddes. When she moved to the States Agnes accompanied her and died in 1922 (approx). I cannot find any information about her parents (Jack and Agnes). I believe they came to No. Ireland from Scotland, but I have run into a dead end. Sally Mc Cormick remembers a cousin named Murdock from Paisley, Scotland. Any information would be appreciated. I am located in Miami, Florida.

Hi Jim, I think I am your cousin, John Hollywood. My grandfather was Hamilton Geddes Hollywood, who emigrated from Belfast in 1920. He was married to Annie Waterworth, who, along with my father, (age 8) emigrated to Canada, I believe, in 1928. My father was John Hollywood from Guelph. I am guessing that Sally (McCormick) and her family in Montreal are related to you,. I remember the name Jimmy Carberry coming up frequently in my grandparents conversations. My email address is johnjudy@telus.net, We are also on skype. I would be interested in hearing from you if you get a chance. all the best, John
Hi,

If you write me directly at CFitzp@aol.com, I can send you a database of Hollywood baptisms that I have created from church records I transcribed for the parishes of Upper and Lower Killevy. I may have a few marriages, not sure. My records cover about 1835-1848(?) for Lower and about 1833-1840s(?) for Upper Killevy.

I am not a Hollywood myself, but I have coected Hollywood info as I went along because it is such an unusual name.

Also, you should be in touch with Phil Hollywood, who is colecting info on the Holywoods worldwide. I don't have his email addrss handy, but he was living in Thailand and runs a fishing boat company, so he is not too hard to find on th internet.

Colleen Fitzpatrick
Huntington Beach, CA

Hi Barbara,
I see that my old Job had daughters Mary and Eliza with the same birth years that you mentioned, so I think our Jobs must be the same person.
Still checking around here.
I noticed a sort of unusual time spread in the 1st Jobs children, with the first one born in 1825 and the last born 1846, with an 11 year gap between James and Mary. So maybe there are step-children involved.
The more I try to figure this all out the more confused I become. I wish I had documented where I got the info that I have.
Happy 4th of July,
Joe
Hi bollywd,
I show my Job, the earliest in my Hollywood tree, being born in 1800, in Ireland. I am not sure where I got that infol. I am going to have to start keeping track of that sort of thing.
I show my Jobs oldest kid born in 1825 and the youngest in 1846. Your Job would only have been about 13 at the time, young, even for the Irish!
But they do have the same siblings.
From looking at the dates involved it looks like I may have 2 generations under my Job listed together. All of this gets more confusing as I look at it.
Do you have any other generations either before or after your Job?
The son of Job in my line is Francis, and I am pretty sure he was born in County Armagh, Ireland, as are the rest of his decendents. Francis was married to Mary Ann England.
Maybe they were cousins or something, if not the same person.
I'll let you know if I find documentation my my info, and would appreciate it if you would let me know of any other leads you may have on this line of the family.

I think I am related to your Job. I have him born 1812 in Antrim. Besides the three sons you mention there is a fourth son, also Job, my line, who was born 1844 in Campsie, Scotland and 2 daughters, Mary and Eliza. Is it possible that my info is correct? I probably got Job's info from ancesty.com. My Job was married to Janet Ross from Campsie.

My GG-grandfather was Job Hollywood, born in Ireland in 1800. Maybe he is an ancestor of your Job.

Job's sons were Francis, born in 1826, John, b.1825, and James, b. 1830.

Joseph, b.1849, my grandfather, was the son of Francis. Francis also had sons Thomas, George, and Samuel.

Josephs daughter Rose was my grandmother. His sons were James, Joseph, John, and John Matthew. John was born in 1876. I suspect he died young since John Matthew was born in 1893. Maybe there is a connection somewhere there.
