I'm attempting to locate any information on Shirley Pearlie. She was born in the 1920s in Simcoe Ontario Canada. She was married twice that I know of, 1st married name was Osborne, 2nd married name was Pearlie. She still may go by that last name. I believe she is somewhere in Ontario if she is stll alive.
Mother was Annie Ellen Hollingsworth, father Lyle Allan Holmes. Siblings were Ellis(Al), Edward (Ted), William (Bill), Mary, Isabel and Victor(Vic)
If anyone has any information on her I would appreciate being contacted.

Requesting assistance in determining parents of James Holmes. He was b 27 Apr 1815 in Prince Edward Co., Ontario Canada and d 18 Jul 1899 in Percy Tp, Northumberland Co Ontario Canada. Married Jane Ann Daily 20 July 1841.

Most above dates were found on familysearch but I've been unable to access original documents to confirm above dates and determine if parents names may be listed.

Any suggestions on next steps toward learning James' parents would be appreciated.

Homes/Holmes Families, Lancaster and Cumberland Co., PA, Early 1700s

I'm wondering if anyone may have run across connections between Kilgores of Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania, and a Holmes or Homes family in the first part of the 1700s.

The will of James Homes of Pennsborough, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania (28 Oct. 1749) names Charles Kilgore as one of James's executors, and Anthony Kilgore witnesses the will.

I think the Charles who is the executor of this will is the Charles Kilgore who married Jean McClure and died in 1778 in West Pennsborough two., Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania. I find Charles and Anthony on the tax list of West Pennsborough in 1751, after which Anthony seems to disappear from the tax list.

A number of researchers of the family of James Homes/James Holmes have thought that his wife Sarah (who is named in his will) is likely a Kilgore. I suspect this may be correct.

Does anyone have information on any of these families, or on Homes/Holmes-Kilgore connections in Cumberland and Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania? I'd welcome information, and will gladly share my own.

I'm trying to find the cemetery for Robert B Holmes born March 11, 1865 in Norfolk county, Ontario Canada and died Nov.20 1920 in Elgin county, Ontario Canada.
As well as a date of death and place of interment for Austin Miles Holmes born May 20, 1897, Simcoe Ontario, Canada. I believe he lived in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada.
A complete date of death for Oran S. Holmes born Sept. 23, 1888, Norfok county, Ontario, Canada and died 1968 in Essex county, Ontario, Canada. Buried in Oldcastle, Essex county, Ontario, Canada.

from obit in Wednesday 17 Nov 1909 Jacksonville FL Times Union and additional research: Melrose, Nov 16.- Once more have the people of Melrose FL been called upon to mourn the loss of the oldest of its regular winter residents, Mrs Elisabeth Holmes Orr (Mrs Natanial Orr), who died at her cottage, the Home Acre, on the shores of Lake Santa Fe, Friday night, aged 84 years. For twenty years Mrs Orr has been here every winter, adding by her presence much to the intellectual as well as the social features of the Melrose seasons. In her younger days Mrs Orr was a valued contributor to the best magazines, besides publishing several works of her own.
Rev CB Hedrick officiated at the funeral service on Sunday morning, the body being afterwards shipped North for burial in the family lot in the historic Paramus cemetery near Hoboken NJ. The deepest sympathy of the entire community is extended to her three sorrowing daughters and family.

I have no connection to this family, but found this while doing other research. This appeared in the Mar. 18, 1884 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Courier Gazette in the Men and Women column:

“Albert P. Holmes died at his home on Pleasant street Friday morning after a long illness with pneumonia. He was a man well and favorably known by all. He leaves a wife and child to mourn his loss. The funeral takes place today.”

I know Uncle Emory & Aunt Frances owned a store and drove the school bus. I know Aunt Bertha owned a store too and she was Amos (tooty's)mother. Amos was married to Lucille.
Do you still live in Nanjemoy. I don't get down that way much. Mostly for funerals.

If you look at the 1880 census under peter cunningham born 1871 you will see a john and martha holmes, there you will see a list of cunninghams. The Holmes and Cunninghams are living together in King George, Va.

Mr. Emory Holmes owned a store in Nanjemoy, Md. and he owned and drove the school bus I rode on.

Mrs. Bertha Holmes Gains, Emory's sister was also a store owner. No I don't know the name of Calla's brother. It maybe John something you may want to lookup

My grandfather moved to Fairmont Heights, Md. He married my grandmother Victoria and their children were John, Arthur, Gloria, Ruth, Kenneth, Norma, Constance, Joseph, James, Delores, George Holmes.

I found Elizabeth Holmes in 1900 married to Borroughs Holmes. They reported that they'd been married three years. So, on Ancestry, I searched for Edith (no last name) born 1874 with a mother named Elizabeth.

FYI - Ruth Holmes married a William Darlington in Dublin in 1930 and had 5 children, they later moved to England (separately) after WW2 where they divorced. Ruth died in 1981 in Durham, England, still using the last name Darlington.

I believe that Sarah's parents were William and Sarah Holmes. William was born 1838 in Lustleigh and was the brother of my great-great grandmother Anne Holmes who married Edward Effer. William and Anne's parents were Richard Holmes and Ann Crocker. Sarah Jane was living with her grandmother Anne in the 1881 census and her aunt Emma Holmes and her husband William Parnell with her husband Edward Henry Leaman in the 1891 census. Hope this clears things up for you and let me know if you need further information.

My g.g.g. Grandfather was William J. Thompson, he married (I believe as a second wife) Margret (Margaret?) Holmes in McMinn Co. Tennessee on October 23, 1840. She was born sometime around 1821 in NC or PENN.

I am looking for any information on her, or on William J., or on any of their children: Charlie J, Rachel, Martha, Francis M, Permilia O, and M.E. The first three were born in Tenn, Francis was born in Illinois, and Permillia and M.E. were born in MO. Margret died sometime after 1900, but before 1910. She last was living in Howell County, MO.

Have traced ancestry to John Holmes b.1682 in Antrim. Had six children: John b.1707, Thomas b. 1709, Jacob b. 1711, William b. 1713, Martha b. 1715, and Mary Ann b. 1717. John Sr. was supposed to have been a Lord in Antrim. His family moved to America around 1740-1741. Entered in Pennsylvania then moved to Ohio and Virginia. Have no information on wife or parents. Well I will give you a new twist on this subject. Sherlock was his middle name. Watson and Holmes both had the same
first name -John. I notice that your name beings with J.
There is alot of problems created when three people in a
room and two have the same name. From the very beginning
the two of them decided that one would go by their middle
name. Well you know who won the bet. And they say the rest is history. John Sherlock Holmes swings on my tree.
If my mother was asked if she was related - she would answer
brother-in-law. If I am asked, the answer is uncle. If
I were hooked up to a lie detector test I would pass with flying colours. I noticed that you are an MD. Doing the family tree I have discovered 14 MDs and counting.

I just found out about ancestry.com and noticed you were building a tree. This is so amazing to go so far back.
I haven't signed up yet but I'm thinking about it.
My friend at work is an ancestry.com member has gone back to my Gr. Gr. Gr. Gr. Gr. Gr. Great Grandfather William Webb born in 1680! My friend is still trying to back further for me.
Are you able to export your tree as a GEDCOM file so I can add it to the Webb tree I am building?

I have been going over and over information on Sarah Holmes, born Plymouth, Ma either 1718 or 1724. She was the daughter of Elisha and Sarah (Bartlett) Holmes and reported to be the wife of both Jonathan Harlow, married 1842 AND Deacon John Blackmer, married 1832.
This alone isn't unusual but she is listed as having son Jonathan Harlow (1746) and a daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Blackmer (1746). These 2 children married in 1770. To confuse matters more, she's also listed as the grandmother of Lucy Harlow, who married John and Betty Harlow's son, Ivory.
Now I know that family trees often come full cycle after a few hundred years, but I don't think half-siblings would have been allowed to marry even in the 1700's. If Lucy is indeed also related to Sarah Holmes--it's even more confusing.
No matter where I search, everyone has these people as being linked.
Anyone have a new set of eyes and a fresh perspective on this conundrum?
