Julie:

Here are some White's that still live over in the Hickytown & Pless communities that will be your cousins. They are the children of Julia Hon's brothers. Can't remember what her brothers names were. Don White - 479-293-4195; Jerrell White - 479-293-4963. Our phone book must have 50 White's in it, and I expect most of them are related to you. Hope this will be helpful. Let me know what you find out.

My e-mail is ibac@csw.com and my cell phone is 479-857-4100.

James Hon

Yes it does, Julia's sister Mae or Bessie how ever you look at family records was my Grandmother, Mae Mc Kee, we have looked and looked into the White side of the family and have never been able to find out anything but the basics, I tried looking under her sister as a lst ditch effort. I have or my sister does have pictures with Julia's writing on the back from when I was in grade school that Grandma sent to her, calling me her name sake. I was sort of named after Julia, except I am Julie. I only met her and Archie once when I was about 12, I remember a very small white brick house with a large hog in a pen in the side yard, I remember her being nice but I was a kid and I just unfortunately don't remember her that much, I remember Archie in big overhauls that were striped blue and white up and down. I did know she had childern but not how many or anything about them. We have lots of Grandma's pictures that have names on them but we do not know who they are and I am sure you could identify some of them. Thank you very much for repling, yes I will be e-mailing you when I get on my desk top this week end, instead of laptop with no information on it. Julie Anne Mc Kee

Arch and Julia had a son Homer who was killed in a truck accident in Montana about 20 years ago.   Homer & Mary, his wife had 5 children, Homer Allen who lives in Siloam Springs, Arkansas; John who died of a brain tumor about 10 years ago;
Curtis who married a German girl and still lives in Germany; Jimmy who was accidentally shot when he was about 10 years old; and Lola who lives in Atkins, Arkansas. Can't remember what her married name is. Homers wife Mary, remarried to a Lynn, who is now deceased, she lives in Atkins, also. Her phone number is 479-641-0332. Arch, Julia, Homer, John and Jimmy are all buried in the East Point Cemetery, just across the road from East Point Baptist Church in the Southeasterly part of the cemetery. East Point Cemetery is about 2 miles North of the cement block house where you visited Arch and Julia. I'm sure Mary or Homer Allen can give any other information you might want. My name is James Hon and you can e-mail me at ibac@cswnet.com if you would like. Hope this helps you some.

How is Hahn a native American surname?
Is it possible that Hon or Honn is a derivative
of Hahn?

In my line is a Mary Howe or Hahn b. 1802 MD
married to Joel Sharrits b. 1809 VA, married
in Montgomery OH in 1829.

There is supposed to be 1/4 Cherokee in my
grandfather, a g-grandson of Joel Sharrits.
These Sharrits all look to be German so I
am figuring the Indian connection is a woman,
maybe Mary Howe or Hahn or her mother Elizabeth
Wolf (b. 1773). A check of the Dawes rolls
reveals both female surnames are native
American.

If anyone has any native American history on
the Hawn/Howe family of southern Ohio, please
do not hesitate to email me.

If you would like to check it out the url is http://www.mariahswind.com/genealogy.

Please note that access to my database requires user registration.
I am writing to all the formally Honn researchers, to let them know, My gr grandmother Maggie Honn, is actually a HORN.
She raised her children on the JAMES HORN family farm in Ohio. She is of NA decent, spoke only broken English, and has been verified as "A Santee Indian", by Chief William Koon, of the Santee tribe from South Carolina.
Maggie is daughter of Moses Horn, and Rachel Santee., listed as such on the 1870 census in Lawerence Co Ohio. I sent him everything I could find on this family, and he & his research assistant is positive they decendended from the Santee Tribe in South Carolina.
I do have applications for members of my family, and would love to hear from any of the So Ohio Native American decendents.
I can help you get the info you need to send your records to this very helpful gentleman. He says they origanlly were in the west, and moved east. The Santee Indians in Nebraska have agreed to help with anything they can to get these people reorganized.
It has been a long hard road, but I can breath a sigh of relief, and relax, for I have done my ancestors well.
Lots of critism, and lots of people not understanding how important this has been to me.

Thank you Creator, for your guidence!
My Moses Jasper Hon/Honn/was born in Ky. He had two brothers, Benjamin, and John, all born in Montgomery Co Ky.They lived or worked and was on the census with McClanahans in Adams Co Ohio.
There was a Charles Edward Hon, that is listed as BLACK. Wondered if he was Native American.
My gr grandmother Maggie named my grandfather Clarence Edward. I always wondered if there could be a connection. I know that my Moses Jasper Honn's 1842,Ky. wife was French/Indian.
She was Rachel Jane Santee, born 1840, Ohio. Daughter of William Santee abt 1800, and Rachel Baldwin.
William may have been the son of Wilson/Welson Santee.
Linda Clayhummingbird@yahoo.com

Upon further investigation, Rachel Horn, on the Cherokee Rolls is actually 37, instead of 27.
On the 1870 Census in Lawerence Co Ohio,Moses spells his name Honn, or at least the census taker did.
My gr grandmother is listed as Elizabeth Honn, born 1864, Ohio. This could easily be misread as Horn.
My gr grandmother Maggie Newman, lived on the property of James Horn, his wife was a Hon. They have people in Mo. I have talked to the family on the internet. She visted the Horn/Hon/Honn Homeplace on Smokey Corner Road in Adams Co Ohio. Linda

NATIVE AMERICANS -MAGGIE HON/HORN SO OHIO ADAMS CO

Searching for my gr grandmother. I have her only in one census, 1900, with my grandfather and six other sons. (These are Hawse children) One is even younger than my grandfather, so I'm not sure of his father. My gr grandfather was Andrew Bird Newman, 1847, Va. & his son, my grandfather was Clarence Edward Newman, born 1897 so Ohio, Adams Co., Maggie states her DOB as Jan 1863 Oh Oh Oh., but Grandpa said she didn't speak English, read or write, so I'm not completely sold on her statistics. This is NOT my Maggie, on these rolls, she is to young, but may have been an ancestor of theirs.
There is a Rachel Santee, in Missouri, I believe her husband was Ruben Hon, and a Moses Hon, born in Montgomery Co Ky living in Missouri. Rachel has a sister living with her, Margaret DeAtley, and a sister in law named Shoe,( first name is )Leathering.
I know some of the Hons were Native American.
There is a

Rachel Horn, 27,
#3390 Dawes,
#1237Miller#, 1/2 Blood
and with a Miller application #23326

with daughter(?STEP?) Maggie Horn,
Dawes#8417 age17,
Miller #8126,
and Miller application # 25079 3/4 Blood

and son Ben A Horn, 3, 1/4 blood

All in the final DAWES Plus Rolls of the Cherokee Nation 1898.

In Cherokee the "R" is pronounced as an "A". This could be the reason the name is pronounced Hon/Horn/Hahn

Anyone with any info on this line may reach me at the following,
Clayjuanice@yahoo.com or Clayhummingbird@yahoo.com
