You mentioned a Joseph Honeywood. I also have a Joseph Honeywood whom I recently found was the father of Mary Honeywood, born about 1783 in Harleston, Norfolk. She was married to Philip Bryant, a tailor, and he was born in 1779 in Mendham, Suffolk. The other day I found a probate(1821) for Joseph Honeywood of Redenhale with Harleston on the NOAH website which left everything to his daughter Mary, wife of Philip Bryant. Also, there is a probate of Robert Tyrrell of Redenhall with Harleston in 1811 which leaves almost everything to Mary, wife of Joseph Honeywood(his executor). I wonder what relation she was to Robert Tyrrell?

I don't "currently" have a Jack Honeywood in my tree, but then the Honeywood I'm following married a Keifer and then a Becker and moved to Notting Hill. When she was still a Honeywood (back in 1890) and living in Bungay, she had siblings named Rosa (born 1977), Ellen (born 1880) and Walter (born 1899). Their parents were Walter Honeywood and Anna M Cunningham (both born in Bungay).

If you want to send me an email address I will give you access to my tree and you can have a look :)

Hi Lisa

Do you have a Jack Honeywood listed in your tree?. My father is Ken Honeywood, his father was Jack Honeywood who married Violet in around 1918 in Brighton, Sussex. Jack was from Suffolk originally.

Kind regards

Andrew Honeywood

I have just found out that my maternal great grandmother was called Mary Emma Honeywood and she was born in Manchester, Lancashire, 1875. Her father was William Honeywood 1843 born Manchester, Lancashire, mother Emma Roberts c1844 Manchester. William's father was William Honeywood c1804, Manchester died 1863. I THINK his father was John Honeywood and mother Agnes who married 07 JUL 1794 Perth, Perth, Scotland.

I dont know where John Honeywood is from, or Agnes. Can anyone help me fill in the gaps and pad out my tree. I think its going to be hard as nearly every Honeywood Ive seen mentioned is from Bungay!

Thanks in advance for any help

I am also researching the honeywoods from Bungay although struggling as there is not much family knowledge about them. I am looking for my Great grandfather at the moment Christopher Honeywood who married Elsie Olley. Do you have any more recent info about the honeywood trees?

I am also reserching the Honeywood's from Bungay suffolk, but as yet have not gotten very far. I will ask my grandmother - her grandmother was Alice Honeywood, daughter of Joseph and Mary- Ann Honeywood, Alice went on to marry a 'Searle'. I am serching a branch of th 'Honeywood's family that runs in the 'knights' - do any of these names mean anything to you? I am still a novice at this but am holding out hope for a kick start in the right direction! Thanking you, Dawn Hendricks.
Your welcome, Dawn. You may find that the Suffolk Record Office will be able to help you further. If you do uncover anything about the earlier Honeywoods I should be most interested.

Regards,

Hannah Davies

Thank you for your posting, Dawn, and welcome to the fun and frustrations of family tree research!

Yes, it does look like there could be a connection between our Honeywood families. In my tree I have an Alice Honeywood who married Charles Searle. Alice was the daughter of Joseph Honeywood and Mary Ann Foreman. Joseph was the son of Charles Honeywood and Mary Cutts. Charles was the son of John Honeywood and Jane Gunner. John was the son of William Honeywood and Ann Boast (through whose daughter Ann is my link to the Honeywood tree). William was the son of John Honeywood and Margaret. This is where the trail dries up in the Bungay area. It is believed but not proven that the family orginally came from Kent but I have found no links to that county as yet. Hope this helps.

Hannah Davies
hrcdavies@hotmail.com
www.pastelpaintings.co.uk

Seeking information about the Honeywoods in Bungay, Suffolk, England. John Honeywood was born about 1700 and married Margaret about 1727. They had a son: William baptised 1727 Bungay, Suffolk, England. There is a family myth which states that family are related to Sir Thomas Adan of Adan Hall, Bungay but this has never been proven. Any help to research this family further would be much appreciated.
