In researching my English mother's family, I found Honour, Honnor, and Honor just in tracing her father back through the different census of the 1900's. It was when I tried different spellings that I was successful (and I do feel quite confident about my results). I guess a census is only as accurate as the person writing down the information.

Hi Graham

Lovely to hear from you again. No I didn't get your message. I have been completing my family tree on genes reunited and have loads of details with regards to the Jarmans. One of our many long distant cousins contacted me and he has gone back to the late 1600's (I think). Let me know what information you need and I will e-mail any details that I have.

As for Charlotte her husband was Frederick Bright. I have a couple of pictures of the Jarmans and Honours that I can e-mail to you.

My e-mail address is sonjylou@googlemail.com. Thanks for yours. It is great to be in contact with you. I will have a look on the hertfordshire genealogy page and look at your discussion.

I will e-mail soon, in the middle of doing tea.

Best wishes Sonia x

Sonia, I did a message yesterday which looks as though it did not get through. Your g.g.grandmother was my fathers Aunt her brother being my grandfather Henry Honour Jarman. I am in touch with Pamela in U.S.A and her Grandmother was Agnes another sister to Charlotte. There were as far as I can tell 12 siblings in that generation. Like you I am interested in the HONOURS. HENRY was born later than most references suggest as he was born in 1803 according to his Army records. This is in line with the Hertfordshire Records of birth which also show him as baptised in 1803. If you go to Hertfordshire Genealogy page on the internet you should see a discussion I had with a local expert called Chris.
I guess you are the generation after me and probably a similar age to my two daughters. What was Charlottes married name? My brother and I have a lot of unconfirmed information so anything which helps to fill the gaps is useful. Do you have photos of any of the older family members?
Did you know that Charles and Agnes were not the only Jarmans and Honours to marry? They had other brothers and sisters who married. I will give you details later if you need it.
If you would rather contact me direct rather than through this format my e mail is jar2delboy@utvinternet.com.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
DEREK

Hi Derek

It's great to hear from you, thanks for replying. My relationship to the Jarmans is through Charlotte Jarman who was my great great grandmother. Her father was Charles Abraham Ware Jarman and mother Agnes Amy Honour.
Charles was born in Holcombe and Agnes was born in Plymouth (Got this info from 1871 Census) I am trying to research the Honour side because I have found through Genes Reunited that many long distant relations have done lots of research on the Jarmans.

Are we related? I have got in my notes that Agnes Honour had a father called Henry James Honour, who married a lady called Mary, who was born in Scotland, but don't know anything than that at this stage.

I understand from the 1871 Census that the Jarmans and Honours we neighbours at Holcombe, Devon. Henry and Mary lived at number 30 Holcombe Village cottage.

I live in Wellington, Somerset.

I look forward to your reply and hopefully we are related.

Best regards

Sonia Cawte

Sonia, Just found your message when I returned from holiday. Would like to compare notes. Would you tell me your relationship ? C.A.W.J was my great grandfather and his son henry honour jarman was my grandfather. His son Basil Jarman was my father. I saw born in Devon but now live in Northern Ireland for past 5 years. I still have family in Devon and my brother and I have what we think is an accurate picture of the family history. Our blank area is in relation to Henry Honour wife who was born in Scotland.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
DEREK JARMAN

I am related to the Jarmans through Charlotte Jarman. If you are still on this site, please get in contact with me.

Best regards

Sonia

Hi Dave,
We have also linked our family back to William & Ann Honour of Wing - we are descendents of their son George who married Anne Howes.
Since your last post, have you managed to find anything preceding William & Ann? We are interested in your connection to the Honours!

Regards,
John & Robyn

Carol,
This with much hope that you may still be checking in on this thread. My husband is the great great grandson of Hannah Honour, born 13 Jun 1806 at Hardwick, Buckingham, England. She was the daughter of Richard Honour,b 13 Jun 1781 at Hardwick, Buckingham, England and Mary Unknown. I am trying to find more about Hannah's family. She married James Slade 29 Nov 1832 as his second wife at St. Mary, Hardwick cum Weedon, Bucks, England. I have the Slade family from there down to my husband. I am hoping you can give me some siblings for Hannah as I think they may have connected to the Gower family and Hannah's son George married a girl whose mother was a Gower. We have nothing on that line.

Gail
Hi Muriel,
Thanks for replying to my posting. I’ve done a lot more research since I made that posting and I’ve also been given a lot of pointers by other Honour researchers.
I’m now back to a William Honour of Wing, Bucks (1679 – 1751) who married Ann (1681 – 1752). The family seems to have moved from Wing to Hardwick (just up the road) about 1730ish.

I had come across a couple of Gabriel Honours in th IGI records but have been unable to tie them in conclusively with our Honours.

I found a Gabriel Honour who married an Anne Bates on Xmas eve 1654 – Their two sons, Gabriel and Henry, and Henrys wife Ann and Daughter Ann (B.1700 in Wing).
I also found a Richard Honour who married a Anna Sophia Whitton, and their daughter Anna Sophia who married a Thomas Adams on 26/1/1698.

Regards
Dave Briggs
