I think you should probably contact Ancestry and tell them what's happening. It appears that these messages that I'm getting are coming thru your account. I know it's not your fault, but we need to get it straightened out. I've always been told that viruses can't spread thru message boards, but that's what this looks like. Happy Thanksgiving....

1	The first Peter Hoose is my GGG Grandfather. The township is Montrose Township not Marquette. Peter was married to Lucy Alger. They had 4 sons for sure. William, George, John and Chester. Chester was born in Michigan everyone else came from New York. Peter served in the Civil War the last concrete information on him, that I have found, is that he was coming to Burton, MI after his discharge.
2	Barbara Jane Hoose was my father’s second wife.
3	Esther Hoose was my Ggrandfather’s eldest sister.
4 The George Hoose listed was the son of Peter (#1 above).
5 Jennie Hoose, who married Fred Baker, is the daughter of #4 George Hoose and Jerusha Messinger.
6 Jerusha Messinger Hoose was divorced from #4 George Hoose.
7 Lucy Hoose and the second Peter Hoose were the sister and brother of my G Grandfather Harry E Hoose. I think Peter died in 1946, he is buried in Montrose, MI. I remember Aunt Lucy. I think she died in the late 1950’s, My Dad took me to the funeral.

My email is dennishoose@att.net
Does anyone have information on the further whereabouts of Fred K Hoose, born in 1867 New York, son of Frederick S (Friedrich Simon) Hoose (1829-1867) and Amelia nee Prinoth (1842-about 1883)? US Census shows his residences as follows:
1870 Brooklyn Ward 6, Kings, New York
1910 Port Chester Ward 6, Westchester, New York
1920 New Haven Ward 10, New Haven, Connecticut

His mother and sister lived in Munich after 1872, therefore he might not have been living in USA during the 1880 and 1900 census.
His wife was probably Emma C Thomas, born in New York, his daughters Louise B Hoose (born 1897 in New York) and Adele J Hoose (born 1900 in New York).

Hello: I don't know of Edgar's earlier life but the Edgar Hoose I speak of was in Jacksonville, FL. (from Ithaca, NY) married to Mildred Gilmer-Brown. My father spoke of Edgar as having the best letter writing. I suppose this was in the late 50's into the late 60's or 70's. In about 1952 Mildred Brown wrote to me in the service. I beleive she was with my Great Grand Uncle Leslie Brown at that time. I understand Edgar had children from a previous marrage in or around Ithaca, NY. Al Coney

Hi Jean, I'm sorry I was late in finding your reply in my backdated e-mails. I did however send you (jrhoos@aol.com) an e-mail back in August but you never replied. So, I will post my reply here.

Yes, your father had the twins, Ethlyn Nan Hoose and Ethel Ann Hoose, with his 1rst wife Ethlyn Agnes Root. The twins were born on 10/20/1930.

Ethlyn Nan Hoose married Nelson William Forrett on 1/11/1939. Ethel Ann Hoose married Alfred Lawrence Bessette on 4/6/1948.

Arnold (your father)had other children by Ethlyn as well.

I would love to hear about your experiences with Grandma Root and find out what you know about her. Her Death certificate says she died in Maple Leaf Nursing Home, Essex Junction, Vermont on January 7, 1960. However, I can't find a listing for Maple Leaf Nursing Home today and I can't find any history of the place either.

And, you're right, this is weird! I say this because I was inquiring about you/looking for you long before you posted a reply to my message on this thread! Hence, you can imagine how exciting it was for me to see your reply. Of course, it's hard for me to believe because you pretty much gave me information about yourself that I've volunteered when searching for you.

I could not find marriage records for your parents Arnold and Dorothea -- in Vermont anyways. Burlington City Clerk records actually say that Evelyn May Zeno was your father's second marriage/wife. However, I was told that if Arnold's 2nd marriage was to "Dot" then it had to of been out of state.

Your sister, Ty, told me that you don't live in Vermont and that nobody knows anything about you other than that your name is Jean and your mother is "Dot".

I don't know what your current last name is; where you live nor where you grew up.

I would love to answer all your questions and ask you some important questions as well. Please reply to this post as soon as possible or mail me a note...my address is:

M.E. WARD
500 JOHNSON ST. APT 1D
CONWAY, SC. 29527

Re: Henry Hoose Oneida NY area

In researching my HOOSE family from Cleveland, Oswego Co., NY, I came across a HENRY HOOSE who was married to "Kate" in the 1880 US Census for Bernhards Bay, Oswego Co., NY. (Bernhards Bay is the next town over from Cleveland.) The children listed with HENRY & KATE HOOSE in that Census are: Charles, Jessie, Walter, Cora, Harry (born 1873), Ford, Alfreda, and Minnie. I'm sure that this in the family you are looking for.

I haven't found a connection between this HOOSE family and my own...but feel strongly that there might be a connection, since this HOOSE family and my HOOSE family lived in the same general vacinity in the same time period.

The HOOSE names I'm researching are EDWARD ANDREW HOOSE and his wife CATHERINE and JONATHAN (aka "Johnathan") HOOSE...all were from Cleveland, NY and are buried there. EDWARD ANDREW HOOSE was born in Coxsackie, Greene Co., NY in 1814 and died in Cleveland, Oswego Co., NY in 1880.

Hope this helps!

Debbie
I spent hours trying to find them. Anything you can send me on any of the lines would be greatly appreciated also.

Interesting about John Hoose. So you agree that he was the father? I was surmising on him. I have a copy of a letter from their granddaughter, Ella (Graham) Klauminzer, written in 1938, stating that her parents moved originally to Towanda (then called Steppingstone, PA). If my recollection is corrrect, that is in Bradford County. I haven't seen any note of John in any records I've found regarding John Graham and Catherine. But it looks like you may be on to something. If your email is with your message, I'll send along a copy of that letter.
Happy Hunting, Cuz.

My mother's surname was Hoose. Her parents moved to New Mexico from Kansas. My research shows that Peter Hoose, born in Wyoming Co., New York in 1805, married a woman named Marion (surname unknown). They were listed on an 1850 New York census tape. It has been told that Peter's ancestors came from Holland with the surname Van Hoose. There was a disagreement in the family and Peter's side of the family dropped 'Van' from their surname. Peter and Marion had seven children, one of which was Thomas Jefferson Hoose, my great grandfather. I do not have a great deal of information, but would be glad to share what I have.

Bob - Wow! That's a TON of info. Most of this I have but some is new. A note for your files, Catherine's sister, Maria, married (when is not known yet) Alexander McComb (originally of Roxburyshire, Scotland) and moved to Garland, Maine. She had 8 children. If you need or want any more info on Maria, let me know.

What I'm really looking for at this point is info on Catherine Hoose Graham's father, John Hoose. I have some probate papers stating he abandoned his family in Delaware County and moved to Bradford County, PA. I am now assuming he moved in with Catherine and her family. He died in March 1834 in Bradford County. Would you have any info on this? One of my problems in tracking him down (birthdate, parents, etc.) is that in the records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Claverack (kept at the Kinderhook Library in Columbia County) there are two possible candidates, both Johns and both born in the same year, so any little distinguishing info could help me pick the right one.

Thanks for sending me all this lovely info. I can't wait to grab a few quiet minutes and read through it.

Marie

Looking for someone who may be have information on the family of Matthias Hoose (ca 1779 - 1850/55) and wife Eunice Havens (ca 1786 - bet. the 1860-1870 census). They lived in Maryland Twp., Otsego, NY and had: John b about 1816; Benjamin about 1829 and Mahala E. abt 1833. I am really interested in the Havens part of this family; I have been unable to trace the line backward for William Havens, father of Eunice (Havens) Hoose. William was md twice - I do not know who his first wife was, the mother of Eunice. I am from his 2nd wife, Theodosia Hunt. I have had no luck at all in sticking to the Havens/Hunt/Ames side of this family which is mine, so am branching out; I never know where my best information will come from.

I have pictures of headstones of the McCombs, including Maria and Alexander.

I'd be happy to share what I little I've found if you want to email me.

Wayne Randall

I too have a HOOS(E) ancestor in Tompkins Co, NY:
CAROLINE HOOS, who may have been born in Saratoga Co, NY (as that was where her husband, LAWRENCE HOOPER was born). Lawrence died abt. Aug., 1829 in Ulysses, Tompkins Co, NY. Maybe we should be looking in Saratoga Co for this family's roots?

I have a website with all I have on my line:
http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=updike

Dale Updike
