Bennett High School in 1970 and Pensacola Junior College in 1975.

Brenda loved to get lost in a good book and was a talented dancer who turned many heads as her husband twirled her around the dance floor. As her children were growing up, she began working with adults with developmental disabilities. Her love, energy and compassion culminated in her founding a company, Better Living Now Inc., that would carry out this mission.

Her parents were Norman Richard Hosier and Virginia Lea Tetzleff and both preceded her in death.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Ernest Lee Nicholson III of Howland Township and her six children, Lee Nicholson, Norman Nicholson, Nicole (Joe) Nicholson-Shaffer, Robert Nicholson, Bill Nicholson, and Stephen (Mickilene) Nicholson.
She will be deeply loved and missed by her grandchildren, Sabrina Nicholson, Joey Shaffer, Kylie Nicholson and Alex Nicholson.

Rev. David Luther will conduct a memorial celebration of her life at Christ Memorial Baptist Church, 2711 Youngstown Road SE, Warren, OH 44484, Friday, April 29, 2011, at 5 p.m. where family and friends may visit from 4 to 5 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel.

Please visit www.robertsclarkchapel.com to view this obituary online and send condolences.

Mahoning

If anyone has any information on my family line that would be great.

My father is Ray Hosier. He has two brothers, Richard and Jack (deceased). My father was born in 1951.

My grandfather was John Frances Hosier, born in Cleveland in 1915 and passed away this past February. Unfortunately that's pretty much all I know.

His father passed away before he was born from a sickness (if memory serves it was something like the flu or something common). My grandfather never talked about his father, so that's literally all we know.

Any help? His grandmother used to always say we were related to royalty (old family gossip?). There is a chance we used to be "Hozier", as I believe my grandfather might have mentioned it a few years ago.

asking for help with mary ann hosier b 1863.....again! It now seems that she was not the daughter of georgina hosier. I can find no trace of her birth at all and not for lack of trying. I am wondering if mary ann was jewish. is there any way of finding jewish baptism records? i would be extremely grateful for any help. mary ann says that she is born in may 1863 in london. evry mary ann hosier that appears in the 1871 and 1881 censuses does not seem to be her! I am at my wits end!!!!!!! thank you, jane

Margaret HOSIER nee PIGRAM of NSW - who was her husband

Hi,

My ancestor Thomas Trevithick in Hill End NSW married Margaret HOSIER, a widower in 1881. Their certificate gives no more information, however the Hill End register states that her maiden name is Margaret PIGRAM, born in 'Bishp Stortord', England, and that her father was Joseph PIGRAM.

Any information on her birth, or marriage to ? HOSIER would be greatly appreciated. I cannot find any immigration record in NSW suggestive of PIGRAM or HOSIER, nor can I find a marriage or death for a HOSIER in NSW that fits.

cheers
matt

I believe that your Hoosier family used to spell their hame Huser with an umlout over the u and is German in origin. Hoosier is the proper spelling of the name as it is pronounced. There were a large concentration of this family early in Indiana. Traditionally, our family is believed to be English in origin, originating with one Edward, hosier, draper and cloth merchant, who lived on the Welsh border about 1300 or so. I have had a DNA test that appears to confirm this tradition but I have not traced the written record back any farther than Azariah Horser, born about 1724. Other who have taken the same test and are thus proven relatives ofmine now spell their name Hosey. You will need a similar DNA test which I believe will conmirm the German origin.
Scott F.Hosier Jr.

Deb,
Here is information on my lineage:

Brown Searl m. Barbara Hosier
William Jesse Searl m. Theresia Hart
Ella Barbara Seral m. James Leonard Jackson
Gladys Mahala Jackson m. Harold Vern Florida
Pauline Mae Florida m. Raymond Frank Waldmann
Paula Jean Waldmann m. Kim Eugene Musil
Scott Eugene Musil m. Cassie Lanae Schmidt

If you were at the cemetery clean-up in September, then you know Dorrie. Most of the info I have on this family came from Dorrie. I have no proof of Frederick's Revolutionary War service, but in my notes I have "Fredrick Hoshour, private, 1st. Regiment, Berks Co. Militia, 1781." Where this information came from, I do not know. I would guess that there is a muster roll somewhere that would have his name on it. You can get a "compiled military service record" from the National Archives that gives information about military service of Revolutionary War soldiers. I've never gotten one for Frederick.
I was at Searl's Ridge Cemetery about 3 1/2 years ago and took some photos there. I do remember seeing George Hosier's grave, but don't remember the other Hosiers I saw there. I really wanted to go to the cleanup, but my schedule didn't allow it. I hope to get back to the cemetery sometime. Dorrie has sent me pictures and the cemetery looks great!

Hi Scott, I would love whatever information you can provide me on this branch, especially your ancestor connection through the generations up to William Jesse. But I am most interested in proof that Barbara's father served in the Revolutionary War and what the spelling was of their name at that time. I went to Searl's Ridge Cemetery clean-up in September. Saw a gravestone for George Hosier and another one, maybe Peter's?. May even have a picture of them. Would you be interested?
I think I may have had a Ann Hosier in my family. She married Thomas King, ( a policeman and later a publican) in about 1840's and they had a son of the name of James King (b.1845). They lived in central London. James became an umbrella maker, in Bethnal Green. Could you check if you have anyone of this name and check if I have my facts right. The problem I have is James and King are quite popular names, so I have only gained this information by getting certificats.

OK, here goes: I'm trying to locate information on Frederick (sp) Hosier (sp) who served in the Revolutionary War and I believe is the source of at least one DAR/SAR member's application. He had a daughter named Barbara, who married Brown Searl---who lived at Princeton a/k/a Searl's Ridge, Illinois. May have had a brother or son or nephew named George Searl.

Looking for Info on John Herbert HOSIER b. Sep 25, 1888 and d. Nov 24, 1947. He is buried in the Churchland Baptist Cemetery in Chesapeake, VA. His wife is buried next to him, we think. Stone marker is hard to read. The HOSIER plot has about 2 dozen HOSIER's, 7 or 8 of them are infants and one is about 5 years old.

Any help would be appreciated.
Steve
