This is indeed the correct information. You can also have access to all the original church records in my public tree confirm these dates and names.

If you have any information on the date of death and burial for JB Veronneau, buried supposedly in Maine, I would be greatly interested.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Andrée

Went to my local library to check in the genealogy books about Louise Houle 2nd marriage and yes I found it.
Veronneau/Veronnault was 1st married 1-13-1835 La Presentation, PQ.to Julienne Gauvin daughter of Jacques Gauvin and Marie Genevieve Mimaux.
Jb Veronneau's parents were JB Verronneau and Marie Charlotte Roberge. So I guess the person buried at St. Joseph Cemetery Biddeford is JB Verronneau, have to check with the cemetery office now. Thanks for that information, i always thought that the person buried alongside Louise Houle was JB Chicoine.

Hi,

Thanks for this information! Jean-Baptiste Chicoine was buried in St-Dominique (Québec) on June 30th 1874 (died on June 27th). The church record is attached to his profile in my public tree, feel free to have a look. Maybe Jean-Baptiste Véronneau is the one buried in Maine? If you can have info concerning JB Veronneau's burial, I would be greatly interested (he is my 3rd great-grandfather :-).

Many thanks again,

Andrée

Christian I am also part of the Houde/Houle family. I hope that you get a chance to see this post. I believe I am the 13th generation from Andre Houde. My great-grandfather was John Houle who married Ella Flaherty. His son/my grandfather was Harold William Houle who married Florence Olive Hardy. His son/my father is Roger Hardy Houle who married Betty Jean Vargo/Wargo/Warga. And my name is Valerie Lynn Houle. Can we exchange information? I saw that your post is quite old so I hope you actually get a chance to see this. Keep in touch. It's greatly appreciated.

I have been reading most of the posts for this family tree but to be honest there's so much info. I am a decendent from this family tree. My name is Valerie Lynn Houle. My father's name is Roger Hardy Houle. His father's name/my grandfather's name is Harold William Houle. I am just overwhelmed with all the info. on this tree. I had NO IDEA that this information even existed. I thought that I was so to speak, "the last of the mohecann's". Thank you, thank you, thank you for everyone involved in putting all this much appreciated info. together and sharing it. Otherwise I would have never known. I had always had a deep wanting to know my family history and I felt that many pieces of my life's puzzle were missing. God Bless. If anyone would like to send me a message or thread please do so. I would love to be in contact. I even have very old pictures and finally the names and faces have come together. But I still have more unanswered questions. Thank you all!

Hi all,

I am looking for the marriage record of Marie Louise Houle and Jean-Baptiste Chicoine, which supposedly happened in Ste-Rosalie on 27 Oct. 1835. However, the records for Ste-Rosalie start in 1836... I know this marriage existed since I have census records for them and their children For 1852, 1861 and 1871, just before Jean-Baptiste died in 1874. Marie Louise remarried to Jean-Baptiste Véronneau in 1876 in St-Hyacinthe and can be found in the 1881 census.

Any info on her first marriage would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Andrée

Dear cousin,

I saw your post. I'm the great-granddaughter Francois Xavier Houle b.1869 in St Celestin. I know the Houles and Plourdes were intertwined from the beginning. My ggf was taken as a baby to live in New Hampshire and later to Providence and Boston. At 13 he joined his dad in Montana. At 16 he was sent to Montreal for an education and then went back to Montana to join the Union Army/Indian wars. Between 1992 and 1998-not sure where he was. Anyway, when they went to NH in 1870 or so-they stayed with an uncle. Does any of this sound familiar? His older half sister was Marie Delphine Houle, maiden name Noel.

Please let me know if you think we are talking about the same Delphine. My user name is Hipchick500-feel free to look around.

Lisa Roltsch-Friedman
Savannah, georgia

Hi, yes that is how I came across the "right" Rose Anne" Houle. thank-you for all your work, we knew nothing about my mother's side of the family past 1890. My grandfather told my aunt that we had native ancestry on his side, but so far I have just been hitting walls. unfortunatley, i can't read french, so it has taken me a little longer, but now the pieces of the puzzle are coming together.

-Steph

Rose Anna Houle was Baptized in 1867 at St-Hughes parish in Bagot county. Here's what I did - I found the Houle/Bourque marriage record at:
"http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&db=dr..." and identified her parents. Then I found her parents' marriage location (easy to search on both parents identified in Rose Anna's marriage in the parish record. Once I knew WHERE that was, I could search for Rose Anna's baptism in that same location (high probability). It worked, and I have her baptism from a search that identified many many Rose Anne Houles, but only one in the same location where her parents were married. Looked at it, and voila!! her parents were identified in the baptismal record which is at:
"http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=..." I assume since you're on ancestry.com that you are a member and can do a search, right? And hopefully you can read French too. And I further assume you already have the names of her parents.

Hi. I have found no indication of any Houle who has any Indian blood in any of my research. The most comprehensive study of the Houle family can be found in: "Louis Houde et Sa Descendance 1655-1985" which you can get through inter-library loan at most public libraries if you are a member.

Hello Ray,

I am interested. Sadly, I know almost nothing of my GG-grandfather, Francois or Frank Houle. He was born in Quebec in Feb, 1868 and ran off to join the US military in Montana at the age of 21. I don't even know the names of his parents. My only other clue is an old photo of an aged woman which is titled: Madame Delia Houle. I'd love some other avenues to pursue.

Merci bien,
Lisa Roltsch Lisunya5@aol.com

I am looking for info on a John Houle (or Jack or Henry) from MA. He and his brother were in an orphanage together and ran away as young children...John lived in MA and managed a boarding unit near the city. He never married. However he had a son. I guess that he was born around 1903..maybe a bit later. He spent time in Maine St. Prison in Thomaston in the 30's for robbery..7 years we think. He was robbed in the strees of Boston and died....maybe in the 80's or 90's. I'd love to find info on his brother or parents. As a young man, he workd for Bangs moving company for many years. I can post a photo if it helps. He spent time in New Hampton and Ashland, NH...where he met my grandmother....I believe he was bootlegging up there.

No, they are my great-grandparents. We discussed this before back in 2009, and as I explained then, I have no known Indian blood in MY ancestry. I have the Joseph Houle line in all branches back to France and I have no records of any Indian ancestors in that line. The Gadelie line ends with Ursula's father, Antoine Cadiely, who was a German Mercenary in a Swiss regiment that left India to go to Canada under British contract to fight against the Americans in the War of 1812, and her mother's line goes back to France in all the branches I have. I know you've been looking for Indian blood, but I have not found any in any of these lines, and I'm personally satisfied that they are all pretty thoroughly researched. Perhaps you have Indian blood in some of your other branches.

I haven't done much research yet on Houles but we must be related somehow. I have a family tree given to me by another "cousin" My great grandfather wa Gabriel Ludger Jeremiah Chartier (changed to Carter)(1857-1944). His mother was Marie Houle 1820-1880. Her father was Joseph Houle 2 JAN 1797 nd his father was "Houle" 11 Aug 1765-1845. I haVE nothing really concrete for records beyond my gr grANDFATHER. aPPEARS HE WAS BORN IN St. Pie, qUEBEC and then ended up in Buttek MT in the mines. If you have a tree you're willing to share or other info I'd love to be able to look AT IT. Thanks so much. marsyh@comcast.net

Hi All,
I am curious as to the origins of Bapiste Houle who married an Indian lady named Catherine Kepetchwekejekook. They had quite a few children judging from records of St Francois Xavier and St Laurent, Mb.

1) Bapiste Houle married Marguerite "Misiepit" Thompson.
2) Pierre Houle married Eliza Ahkamikijikisig (Sauteuse).
3) Joseph Houle married Marie Sauteuse (possible daughter of Angus Iron of Fairford), married 2nd to a Sarah Unknown, third marriage to Euphrosine "Waywaysheqwa" Katchiwe.
4) Isabelle Houle (no other info on her) born Aug 5, 1853.
5)Euphrosine Houle born May 1856.
6) Marie Houle born April 30, 1859 (had 3 kids out of wedlock) and then married George McKay of Riding Mountain Band.
7) Marguerite Houle born abt 1861 married Joseph "Piwan/Pinesi" Beauchamp.
8) Unknown Houle female.

Am wondering though about the parentage of a Josephte Houle that married a Thompson, and wonder if she was from this line...

Our branch of Houles were joined into Treaty with the Ebb and Flow First Nation Band, and several of the names mentionned and their sons and grandsons were Chiefs and Band Councillors with this band.

My lineage. My grandma Ida Houle born 1917. Her father Edwin Houle born abt 1896. His father Pierre Houle born abt 1865 that married Marie McKay. His father was Pierre Houle Sr born abt 1836 who married Eliza Ahkamikijikisig (Sauteuse)
