My greatgrandmother was Laura Mabel Hounslow born in Dalby, Queensland in 1888, she married William Joseph Paterson. Records indicate that our Hounslow family connections go back to Montecute, Somerset, England. They have been in Dalby since 1860. Dalby is located in the Darling Downs district west of Toowoomba, which is west of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Have a great day

I recently discovered on the net that someone was researching my Grandads (William Melvin Wilson) history. It stated that the transcriber was a William Hounslow (Bill) born in 1912. His parents were William Hounslow and Dora Eva Tout. Could anyone please shed any light on this?

my mums maiden name was hounslow her family all originated in london her dads name was george her mums name was elsie her grandfathers name was charles her grandmother name was rosena this would take this hounslow family back to about 1860 anything sound the same as your family

My mums maiden name is Hounslow and she is from a long line of Hounslows from Wing in Buckinghamshire.

The furthest I go back is to George Hounslow, born in Aylesbury in 1690.

Does this tie in with your research at all?

Hi Sue, my aunt has traced my great great g/mother back to Wing, her name was mary ann hounslow, born 1860, her father was edmund hounslow and her mother was elizabeth (row/rowe), they lived in chapel lane, she had a hard life by all accounts and ended up in canning town where all my mums family came from.

Dear Corey,

I am not sure that I am the best person to ask about tracking down contemporary family members. Most standard genealogical tools are not much help, and privacy protection laws discourage idle enquiries. It is also difficult to trace women, since they may have changed their surnames. You could try an online directory like www.lookupuk.com or a telephone directory service like www.bt.com/phonenetuk, but some of the databases need data about the person's likely location.

Another approach might be to put an ad in the local paper in the area where they were last heard of. Many local papers in the UK have free contact columns for just that purpose.

Although I live on the south coast of England, in Hampshire, my family seems to have come from the village of Stonesfield in Oxfordshire in the early 1700s.

I am not sure where the name comes from, but the Hounslows seem to scattered around Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties - Berkshire, Bedfordshire - at that time.

Do you have Hounslows in your ancestry? Do you know when and where they were born?

My name is Hounslow, my father is ernest and comes from the london area in england he doesn't know much about his background and seems to have been a war baby. (if you know what i mean).

My father was a hounslow and I had a cousin David who had a brother & sister Peter, & Lynette, are you the same David perhaps?

If you are, I am also trying to collate Dad's family , and boy its not easy.

David,could the Hounslows you are looking for be a Sarah Hounslow that married a Joseph Woolhead in 1880, in Leighton Buzzard, England? Her parents are George and Ann.If so I only have a little info but maybe you could use it.

My dad came to Canada when he was 15 and worked on farms. His name Alfred, born 1909 the eldest of seven children. Five brothers and one sister. All have passed except for Harry and Evie. They still live in England. I believe Harry is in his late 80's and Evie just turned 80 last year. My dad passed away 1977. Really never learned alot about the Hounslow name as "our" family lives in Canada. I myself have been to England only a couple of times, only when I was small. Still I have always wondered about this side of my family.

I have done a little digging and found that my dads fathers name was
George Archibald Hounslow, and his mothers maiden name was taylor
his sisters were, Elsie born in 1929, Peggy born in 1933, Nellie born
in 1937, and Genie born in 1947. the only married name I can find is for
Nellie but that was from a long time ago and it wass Riley
if you can find out any more it would be wonderful as my father has not had
contact in almost 50 years,
