Hubscher Ancestors, Vienna, Austria, 1887, birth records, newsletter

Alois and Esther Hubscher emigrated from Vienna, Austria to the United States in 1887 via Liverpool, England, departing on the SS City of Chester September 1 and arriving at the Port of New York September 16. Alois was the son of Michael and Rosalia Hubscher, and was born in Wottir, Bohemia (Austria) on February 28, 1835. Esther Bauer Hubscher was born in Bohemia on March 25, 1837, the daughter of Bernard and Anna Bauer. Alois and Esther Hubscher had four children, all of which were born in Vienna: Max Michael (July 19, 1876), Paula or Pauline (March 6, 1872), Camilla (April 7, 1879), and Auguste (August 27, 1869). I am Dennis J. Hubscher, Sr., Max Michael Hubscher's grandson. I would appreciate any help or pointers in finding birth records in Vienna and other distant relatives. I also write a monthly newsletter on "Hubscher's" and would appreciate any input. The newsletter is free to all who wish it by contacting hubnews@msn.com. Thanks!

Max Michael Hubscher

Obie - Thought I'd go ahead and post this info, gleaned from one of the e-mails I recently received. Never know when this sort of thing might get lost...:

"...Max Michael Hubscher, my great grandfather, was from Vienna, Austria. His
father was Alois Hubscher and was an English professor in Vienna. There is a strong possibility that they were Jewish.

Alois immigrated to the U.S. in 1988 with his family. Max may have been 10 or 12 years old at the time...

Max married Carrie Sibel (Sible) and had a large family: Richard Max, Robert, Alois (Pete), Elsie, Ruth, and Theresa...

...either Max Michael Hubscher's sisters or daughters (two of them)...never married and had opened a Tea Room in New York together..."

Posted for Posterity by...
zee

Searching for others and connections - Max HUBSCHER

Max HUBSCHER is my great-great-grandfather who came over to the states in 1888 through [it is believed] Ellis Island.

His father was Alois L. Hubscher and mother, Theresa BOWER (maybe BAUER).

Known siblings are Paula, Gussie and Mutz (might be a nickname).

Max lived in the Balitmore area at the turn of the century and he later lived in D.C.

He married Anna Carolyn (Carrie) SEIBLE around 1898.

I'm fishing for some connections to follow it back to Austria or Austro/Hungary.

I'm also just trying to hook up with some other relatives to fill in some holes in the family tree.

Thanks!

Bill Hubscher
bill@carletonpr.com
hubscher@hiwaay.net
