hi
helen

Was amazed I had a reply as your message dated from so far back! At the moment between lots of info and going to the records office in Taunton I am now back to 1725 which is great. Still trying to find if there is a connection between 'our family' and the John Hucker of the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685! Getting nearer. Can we e-mail info?

Sylvia

I am looking for information on my grandfather's oldest sister Mary Walbert Hucker she was born in White Co. IL in 1879 and died in Pemiscott Co. Mo in 1915. She was married to James R. Rister(1872-?). Her parents were John J Hucker(Hooker) and Lucy Walker. My grandfather was her youngest half brother Lawrence(1903-1972). His parents were John J Hucker(Hooker)(1855-1927) and Marinda J. Rister(1866-1903/04). Any help on either family would be appreciated.

Just found this site. Have been looking for the whereabouts of my Great Grandfather William Hucker, born to Harriet and George Hucker in 1862. I know where he lived from 1890 onwards. But from his birth (have his certif.) uptil that time, cannot trace him on any census. Curry Rivel, was where his parents were shown living in 1861 - but his mother died at the age of 29 and fathe remarried. Has anyone got any information, or leads.
Many thanks.
M

Came across this posting just now. Interesting, because my Dad and I always wondered how Charles Payne, from Somerset Cty, managed to get from Boston (where he jumped ship) to Chicago, and WHY he ended up there. Now it makes perfect sense. Sort of a Somerset Underground.

Gail Wacker

I don't believe the George Hooker who arrived at the port of New York aboard the ship Devonshire July, 1853 to be the George Hucker in the message I posted Jan. 19, 2005. The George Hucker in my message was born circa 1833/34 not 1827 as enumerated in the Devonshire's ship list. Another challenge is George Hooker's occupation. It was enumerated in the ship's list as a baker.

In the 1851 England Census George Hucker was enumerated as an ag. laborer, the occupation he continued to perform (farmer) after arriving at Illinois U.S.A. If his occupation had been that of a baker, it seems only logical that after arriving at Illinois he would have pursued it rathar than that of a farmer.

Hi Ken,
I read your posting with great interest, because before my father died 4 years ago ( he was Sidney Hucker) he told me that some of our Ancesters had gone out to Illinois or Ohio and had run a business (shop) called Huckers Radios, and I have so far been unsuccessful in finding any information on them, and your posting caught my eye, I wouldnt have thought that the name Hucker was that common in that area, but I may be wrong.
Regards Fay
