Looking for my half sister, possibly Tracy Hudson or Gravelle?

Not sure of the first name of Tracy but the last name is possibly Hudson or Gravelle...

Father is George Gravelle, mother is Sandie S Hudson... mother is from Washington, Indiana and George and Sandie divorced in 1963 so child's birth date may be prior to 63 or possibly 1964 or 1964. Mother, Sandie's Aunt, Bernice later married my Mother's father, Velmar Eugene Lewis and they also lived in Washington, Indiana.

Any information would be appreciated.

Laplata, Mo is the correct spelling. I'm orginally a HUDSON and a lot of them in MO. Mine are from Novelty, MO area which isn't far from LaPlata, MO. Graveyard in Novelty is full of Hudson's. The Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville has some also. I doubt we are related but my ancestors apparently hailed from Delaware to Ohio to Iowa to Missouri.

I wish I could help you -- and my own search. I have combed Indiana, Texas and even Tennessee and Kentucky records for years looking for John and Sarah's parents without any luck. The earliest records I know of that name both are the minutes of the Bethany Presbyterian congregation of which John was a founder. I'm not sure about Sarah. She first appears in the record several years after he does. It's possible that she was a second wife but that's only speculation. As I imagine you know, Sarah's tombstone in Milford does not contain any information for John. Do you have any idea when he died or where he is buried? The last record I have found is his household on the 1860 census for Cherokee County, TX.

Digging some more I think I have found the family she belonged to but not her parents. In the Cherokee Nation Delaware district there was a

Alfred H. Hudson b.1801 Tenn, d. 1862
m. Susannah Buffington b.1804, d. 1864

They show three kids from what I can find:

Loisa C. Hudson b.1825
Joshua Thomas Hudson b.1827,d.1883 m. Sarah Berry
Mary Hudson b.1829

Joshua had these kids as I can find:

Alfred Hudson
James P. Hudson b.1866
Samuel H. Hudson b. 1858

In the same census as listed Alfred H. Hudson in the Indian territories, is also list a Marion Hudson b. 1838. I am assuming a son of his, but don't have the information.

If any of these names toggle on someone's tree, I am still looking at how Sarah Hudson b.1874 connects to it.

Another interesting tidbit is that Alfred H. Husdon was on the 1860 census as owning 6 slaves in the Cherokee Nation.

I agree that it could be possible. Our Sarah Sally Was born in Texas in 1861 (we believe), and died in 1932 in Texas. John Henry Hudson was born in Shelby Texas in 1858 and died in Terrant Texas in 1900. I do not have a marriage or divorce date for them. I do think it is a coincidence that there could be two Sarah Sally Hudsons who were Native American Cherokee females, in the same general area at about the same time. But if ours married your GGGrandfather in 1890 she would have been about 38 or 39. Feel free to look at the family tree for Odie Greer and see if it makes sense to you. It is midnight where I am and I am getting ired. So I will check this tomorrow to see what you think.
That may be true. Sarah(Sally)Hudson was born 1874, which Sarah Sally James would have been 13(entirely possible). She married my GGGrandfather William Lafayette Johnson in 1890 and had 4 children,

Parmelia Johnson b. 1896
Nona Grace Johnson(My GG)b. 1899
Eva Johnson b.1904
David Johnson b.1908

William Lafayette Johnson was listed as a widower by 1920, so Sarah Hudson died prior to 1920.

If this sounds right please fill in the blanks for me. Thanks!

My name is Barbara Greer. I believe Sarah Sally James (b1861) Hudson is the person you are looking for. I have been looking for her also. She was born in 1861 and died in 1932 according to what I can find. She married John Henry Hudson, and they had a daughter Sara Ellen Hudson, who was my grandmother. She married John Harrison Greer and they had 10 children and lived in Oklahoma, near Fort Cobb. We knew that there was a native indian on my grandmother's side of the family but I could not seem to nail it down. Sarah Sally James seemed to be the right one, as she is listed as a half-sibling to the 4 childred of William A James (1836-1912) and Mary Catherine Elizabeth Pace (1838-1882). Please share what you have on her.

If anyone thinks they may know my family, or that we may be "the missing link" to yours, i would love you to contact me however small the information may seem to you.
Re: Anderson Hudson of Kanawha County West Virginia

I am descended from Anderson Hudson of Kanawha County through his son Joel Leftwich Hudson. Anderson Hudson testified in an affidavit dated 21 January 1856 that his father was John Hudson. John Hudson, according to Anderson, was a private in the Revolution (in the Virginia militia) and was drafted from Mecklenburg County, VA. According to Anderson, his father served three tours of three months each and was at the battle of Guildford Courthouse, NC.

Also according to Anderson, John Hudson lived in Mecklenburg County, VA, until 1806. John then moved to Kanawha County. From Kanawha County, John moved to Cabell County in 1813 and lived there until his death in August 1847. At the time of his death, three of John's children were living--Anderson, Lewis and Lucy. Lewis died soon after his father, and Lucy married John Chapman. Anderson reported that John Hudson was 83 when he died.

Seems like some of the Hudson's had small families while the others had bid families.

I am new to the message board but saw your Query on the Hudsons. I am a Hudson from Georgia, grandparents coming from Va. in which the first I think was Richard Hudson of 1605 referred to as Richard "The Immigrant" Hudson. He came over from England on a ship called the Safety. Other relatives of his including Henry Hudson III , the Explorer which the Hudson River was named after and some in the History Books etc. was a brother of one of my great Uncles back in the 1500 & 1600's. I have mine line figured out I think but am still working on a lot of their families. I have a brother named John Hudson but the John Wesley Hudson of 1842 I will have to research. My brother and myself was from the 1900's. Hope that will be some help. Some of the Hudsons came from Jefferson County, Ga. an then to Houston Co. Ga. and then to Dooly Co. where I was born. You may look at my tree if you want to.

I am new at this, but I have been in it long enough to know that if I am right I am related to Henry Hudson, I the explorer. I am not sure which John Hudson you are speaking of but if you are speaking of John Wesley Hudson (1842-1925). He is supposed to be my 2 great grandfather thru Wesley Hudson. What I would like to know is if anyone in here would mind telling me how to check and see if what i have in my family tree is correct or not. I wish I would have got more interested in this before my father died because he was able to ask other family members if information he found out was correct or not. I know he does have a cousin who is still living but I am not sure how to get ahold of her, I believe she knows who I am but would have to be told whose daughter I am. But back when dad was researching he got ahold of a book on the Hudson Tree that I believe had stories about his father Charlie Doyle Hudson, the problem is my mom does not know what happened to it and my neice who is suppose to have all that stuff does not know anything about this book. I was hoping one of you would know about this book and how I can get ahold of it. Thanks in advance, Renee Hudson

Most likely not related to your Hudson line but who knows. Of all the Hudson's that have done DNA testing none so far match my Hudson line. Family verbal history says we are from a William Hudson and per census for my GGGF (Ebenezer) we probably come from Delaware but then it get strange. My DNA matches are all for PRICE surname and go back into Brown County, KY and then back to North Carolina. They were PRICE's in Maryland near my Delaware Kent County Hudsons. My Hudson's moved from DE to Ohio to Iowa to Missouri and my GGF was David Hope Husdon. I'm at gundave@aol.com

Hi... can you send me your email? I will send you the family tree that I have. So you are a relative of the William and Jemima marriage...which one of their children leads to you? I am from Danville in Pittsylvania County. Charles Hudson was married to Claudia Princess Pigg... my Father Howard Woodrow Hudson was one of their sons. my real email is ceceliastowe@aol.com. I'm not as good on Family Tree to let or share but I know how to copy and put in a email. All of my data stops with Jeremiah. I do have two male cousins that are willing to do DNA to see which one of the four Hudson Brothers our side it related to. There is a large Hudson DNA group on line that is tracking them. We could be related to Henry Hudson the explorer!!!! They are in their 60's and 70's. It has to be male to male to male for the DNA to work. They are the last of their line on our side as they did not have any male children. Cecelia

I don't have children for Jeremiah Hudson, other than William (b 1804 d 1877). I have the following children from William's marriage to Jemima (Gemima/Jamima) Landrum (married in Pittsylvania 1837), but no Ebenezer amongst them.

Jeremiah D. Hudson (Jerry) b. 1849 (my direct relative)
David Hudson b. 1841
William Hudson b. 1843
Mary Hudson b. 1839
James Hudson b. 1844
Sarah Ollie Hudson b. 1846
Edward Hudson b. 1847
Joseph Hudson b. 1848
Emily Hudson b. 1851
Charles/Charlie Hudson b. 1853

I know that William/Jemima were born in Pittsylvania Cty. but not certain of death location/burial. Jeremiah D. Hudson was also born in Pittsylvania County, but moved to Rockingham County NC and died in NC.

I hope this helps!?!

Shannon

Shannon: Could you please run down Jeremiah's 10 children for me. I've been hunting down "a" William Hudson's children for years and looking for an Ebenezer or Ebe born in DE and most likely moved to NC or SC and then to Kentucky. No DNA matches thus far to any known Hudson's just PRICE.

Know this was sometime ago that you asked...I have that Jeremiah was married to Mildred/Millie Bruce. I too cannot seem to get further back than either of them. William Hudson had 10 children that I know of (not all survived). His son was Jeremiah D. Hudson, who moved to NC. He was my 2nd great grandfather.

Shannon
