Thank you for reaffirming what I thought I knew! Do you happen to know the year they married? I ran across something that indicated the marriage took place in Posey County not Warrick County like I assumed. Don't have anything on the Burnett side but will try to start looking at that branch of the family. I remember seeing a picture of all the Burnett kids when they were middle aged but nothing from when they were younger. No pictures of Millard Sr at all.

If it was a typo or switch of first and middle name it's still not a good fit. Family has always said Millard F. Huett was born 06/25/1895 and died 05/1952 from rabies contracted from a dog bite when he was selling products door to door. I have seen that obit myself. But the census from 1930 listed William O married to Lubas parent to all my aunts and uncles including my dad, Dennis L. Two younger children were to be born after 1930. I have a cousin working on this as well. The discrepancy is maddening. I have seen the name William O but no close relative has any recollection of him being a close relative. So still researching.

This my theory. Could the Millard W. could the W. stand for William? Doing reserch people often went by middle name. Is this info correct Millard was b.14 Aug 1896 and d. 15 Jan 1972? Weld CO. In 1910 the family of Daniel was living in Colorado. I don't have enough of younger generation info.

I have also seen our name spelled Huitt, most of that spelling was in the 1800's so that also adds to the confusion. What threw me was the reference to William O which is no where near Millard F. Now thats a leap that was so out there. A fellow tree researcher claims that William Huett had a brother Millard. I haven't seen any link but she is descended from William in some way. Think she said a great uncle. I have asked what she knows about any of this. She's in her late 70's so she is a little closer to that time era and may have direct knowledge of people and events.

The early census would often compile information phonetically. Also the workers were not familiar with names outside the American norm. I've found our last name to switch between Huett and Hewitt, often depending on who was writing it down. It adds to the confusion.

I know, right!!!! It just really threw me. But I pulled it off the Census so guess more research needs to be done to disprove this William O and Lubas as the parents, of who I know are the children of Millard and Lulus. It was just so unnerving. The kids info all fit. 1930 my dad was only 1 as listed. Uncle Bob was 3 and I know him to be 2 yrs old than Dad. Plus names and birth order fit all the others. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks for reconfirming what I thought I knew.
I found a distant connection to a William who was brother to Millard Huett Sr.

Hi,
Do you have any knowledge of the name William O Huett? 1930 Census lists him as the father of Thelma, Dorothy, Arvel, Junior, Robert and Dennis. Married to Lubas. This is confusing as I always thought that Grandpa Millard died in 1952 and was husband and father to our aunts and uncles. Your grandpa Millard was named after him, or so the story went. So who is William O? Really puzzling! Let me know if you have any insight please.

Hey there,
Got a puzzle that I would love to have any insight on. I accessed the 1930 Census to find a William O/Lubas Huett listed as the parents to Thelma 12, Dorothy M 10, Arvel E 10, Junior 5 (whom I'm pretty sure was your Grandpa Millard), Robert 3 and Dennis L 1. Dennis was my dad. Robert my Uncle Robert who just passed away, Of course there is my Aunt Thelma, Aunt Dorothy, Uncle Arvel and Uncle Jr. But who is William O? Always thought Uncle Jr was named after Grandpa Millard who died in 1952. So was Millard Huett not the father of all the aunts and uncles? This blew me away. Either a clerical error or a big family secret. This mind would love to know! Let me know what you know.

The name changing is a mystery to me as well. Can't find any concrete reason for it. I have seen my great granddaddy, Asa Huett's surname spelled Huitt as a young man on a document but then his son my granddaddy spelled the family name Huett. So it wasn't an immigration issue or spell typo entering Ellis Island. Don't have any records of Ellis Island connection so far. Think there could be pre Civil War documentation but have not confirmed it. Saw a single document that said Asa Huett was from the North Carolina area. But can't find lead on his parents to confirm that either. Either poor record keeping, lost of records or wrong branch of the family all together. Not anyone left other than my Uncle Don, who is the youngest, to ask. It's a real puzzle. If I do come across anything will be more than happy to send it to you.

The Huett family would be my mothers side as her grandmother was Naomi Huett Lewis., She was a sister to Esau . They were childrfen os Daniel and Susanna Lawsson Huett.
They spelled the name HEWETT. Can you tell me when and who changed the spelling>
I would love to share family history,

OMGosh what a medical nightmare. Does this surfaces after a certain age? Doesn't sound like it presents at birth or pre-puberty. I will again ask my cousin about the ALS. Is there other family members in the past that could have suffered from the same condition? Did the doctors indicate from which parent this genetic condition is carried? Or perhaps a combination of genetic pooling from both parents..

I'm not sure. Will need to contact my cousin to determine onset. Uncle was the only family member to suffer this disorder that I'm aware of. Have only one remaining Uncle out of 8 children of Millard and Lulus Huett. They were based in Warrick County, Indiana primarily Elberfeld area. Would be so interested in family medical history if our family are closely related.

Your Grandpa Millard was known to me as my Uncle Jr. I'm a few years no more than 2 to 5 years older than your dad Steve and Uncle Eddie. I so remember Aunt Vera! Colorful lady who was so nice to me. I'm the oldest of Dennis Huett's 3 children. If I have my cousins correct you have a Aunt Jeannette. We lost touch shortly after my dad died in '69. Trips to Indiana stopped and my mother was out of favor so to speak because she remarried so quickly. We just lost my Uncle Bob, Robert Huett, to ALS. He was a younger brother of your Grandpa Millard.

Hi Greg, I had you mixed up w/Uncle Jr's son, sorry. But I definitely remember all of you. Your sister Angela had the beautiful black curly hair. I even remember David as he was closer to Terry's and my age. Your dad was the most like mine in resemblance. I am so lacking in info from Millard & Mommie's kids and their kids. Also any link to Grandpa Huett's parents, sibs and nothing from the Burnett side. I did find a census record of Mommie's parents and sibs names. I actually saw of pic of her and her sibs. Can't remember who had it or who would have any of the family pictures. Would be so grateful for any help! I'm interested in Asa Huett as the little that I found has him from North Carolina and being all alone in a boarding house when he was in his mid 60's, again per a census record. Found that odd as there were 4 other children other than Millard. It's just Kimberly and myself left. Mother has dementia at 81. We lost Kent 09/09 when he was vacationing in Europe. My email is p_huettst@yahoo.com. Would love to have regular contact with you and any other relative that is out there. Also on FaceBook as Poogie Steichen. hope to hear from you soon. :-)

My grandmother

Naomi Huett Lewis b. 1827 d. 1863 taking food to Benjamin
in prison during the Civil War.

I believe Naomi was the first daughter of Susanna Lawson and Daniel Huett.

Can you tell me where your family fits in?

Denise,

Greg Huett here. I too remember you and all are good memories. We all lost contact after your family moved down south. Hope you are well. I am the youngest son of Orvil Huett and was very young when you moved away. You likely recall my sister Angela and an older brother David. Hope you are well. Like Steve, I didn't recall the other siblings names until I saw this post. Great to hear from you all again.

Dennis was the son of Millard and Lulus Huett of Elberfeld, IN. MIllard died very early, in his late 40's or early fifty's as I recall. His wife lived to the age of 102. Both are buried in the cemetery in Boonville, IN.

Stevie? OMGosh! Finally a family member is found!!! Yes I am Denise! Dennis was my dad. I have fond memories of Uncle Jr and Aunt Vera (?) his second wife. Red headed if I remember correctly. Please say your recollections of me are good ones. I was painfully shy around relatives. The only cousin that I have had any contact with since childhood is Terry Huett, son of Bob & Marilyn Huett. Aunt Mernie is my aunt both by marriage to Uncle Bob and she is my mother's older sister. Since you don't remember them, I do have two siblings. Kimberly Huett Shue and Kent Huett, who we lost 2 years ago.

My granddaddy was Millard Huett, who died in 1952. Wife was Lula Burnett Huett.
From what I can remember, family had a small farm in the Elberfeld area as well as owning a local gas station. From limited research greatgranddaddy was Asa Huett who married local Elberfeld girl. Some confusion but believe her name was Rachel. My dad, Dennis Lee Huett was 6th child of Millard & Lula Huett.

Hewitt Family Letters

Hi my name is Gil Hayes my ancestry goes through the Hewitt Tree and I may be able to help with your letters. 1st. If you go to the 1850 census look for Francis Monroe Hewitt you should find Francis living with a brother named James B Hewitt and a younger sister named Kitty Ann Hewitt. Of the three Kitty was the 1st. to mary. she married Daniel Seal in 1852 in Jasper Missouri. They had a son named William born in 1853 in Jasper Missouri. Befor their 2nd. child was born they moved to Fayette,Texas. her name was Martha Seal. she was born in 1857. Their last child I know of was a boy named James Seal. I belive he was born in Oct. or Nov. in 1859. Daniel faught in the civil war on the Confederate side he joind the Lone Star Cotton Pickers a Calvary company of the Dixie Baugers that were Quartered in Fayette,Texas. He was a 1st.Lt.in the calvary. He was killed at Kennesaw Mountain,in Georgia, Jun 20 1864. Now the oldest brother, and my G,Grand father, Francis Monroe Hewitt married in 1854 in Jasper Missouri to Nancy Francis Stanley of Arkansas. They had 10 children in all, two died early. No.#9 was my Grand mother Phenita Bessie Hewitt. she was born in 1872 in Ill. They moved to Cliburn Texas in 1873 or so and they had their last child Fred Hewitt in 1874. The last one to marry was James B Hewitt and he married in 1859, July 14th.in Jasper Missouri. I know the Hewitt family were early patriots and were given land grants in Missouri for their service in the revolutionary war and the war of 1812. I'm still working on the right Hewitt as their dad. The Hewitt's had lots of land in Missouri prior to the civil war as did the Seals. the Civil war devided all of the families and they fought on both sides. The Arkansas conection is probably through Nancy Stanly Hewitt. who was born in Davidson Arkansas in 1834. To any Hewitt,Seal family member reading this I hope this information helps, also welcome to my tree and if any of you have question feel free to contact me at starbuckranch1@yahoo.com Thank You Gil Hayes.
Hello,
My grandfather is Marvin Grover Huett. His great grandfather
is Daniel Huett. My grandfather told me his grand (or great
grandfather) was adopted. I heard the 2 boys were orphans
and were taken in by the Huetts. Is this true? I was told by another member on here their last name was Phillip or
Phillips.
Also my grandpa Marvin told me his great grandma was a
Cherokee. I have found that many families claim this but
turns out they are part african. I have found many families like this.
By the way I appreciate your help. My grandpa is deceased, but he was a character. Very talented mechanic and builder,
and handsome. Have a good nite!
Tara ;)

Hi. You would be a cousin of mine through Uncle Dennis. Dorothy Huett was married to a Schnapp ( I believe this is the correct spelling) and she had three girls, Carolyn, Sylvia, and Cybil as I recall. Sarah Huett was my aunt and I also don't recall the married name. I recall she had a daughter name Ramona who goes by Monie.
There is a Steve Huett in Macomb, Ill and his brother Eddie, both sons of Millard Jr. (June).
Are you by chance Denise Huett? I recall Denise when I was very little but don't recall any other of Dennis' kids.
