Try looking in www.familysearch.org and you might try some of the Delaware sites, such as http://delgensoc.org/main_frame.htm.

As far as I know, none of my family ever made it to the Northeast. My 6th GGF landed in Charleston, SC and farmed there. His GGS was a Captain in the Revolutionary War. Later, my side of the family moved to Alachua County, FL. One apparently moved on to TX.

Squire Madison was born in 1833 Georgia and lived in Forsyth County Georgia. He married Emmiline Susan Dolliver, born in 1936 in Georgia. Their daughter, Eliza Jane Louisa Huggins married William Riley Ballard in Georgia but they lived in Gaston County North Carolina. I have Squire Madison living with his mother, Letty, a widow, in 1850 and 1840, in Forsyth. Emiline Susan Dolliver is listed as Eliza Jane's mother on her death certificate. Does anyone recognize this family. I cannot seem to advance them much. They are in my husband's maternal line. Janie

I don't know if this relates, but much earlier a Henry Reese/ Reece married a Lucinda Huggins in Haywood Co.(I think), North Carolina (just north of Pendleton / Pickens District, SC). From memory, this was in the 1820s. This Henry was *perhaps* the son of Levi Reese. Levi Reese was *probably* the brother of Peter Reese, Jr., who was the father of the John Reece who ended up in Union County, Georgia, on the 1834 census. I can give you references to where I got this information if you like. My line comes from Jacob Reese/ Reece, who was *probably* the brother of Peter, Jr. and Levi. Email me directly at w-page@library.tamu.edu

William Francis Huggins born 1821, whereabouts?

William Francis Huggins was born in Reading,England in 1821. He "disappeared" from all records after the birth of my great grandmother in 1848. His wife remarried in 1856 stating that she was a spinster - indicating he may have deserted his family (all 5 children went into care). Lots of emigration around that time so he may have gone to the USA or Australia. Would love to track him down if anyone has any leads!

Lorraine (my mother) passed away on Sept 2, 2011, Peter had passed away in the early 1960's. I do have some threads to the family history, being John Spanhouse of Shrigley Ontario, and the infamous W. L. McKenzie.

Valerie, are you related to Margaret Kuhn (1767-1855) who was married to Alexander Eddy, Sr.?

As respects DNA, it's so frustrating - there ARE male Huggins out there!

p.s. I read somewhere that there was a Huggins cemetery in Greene County, PA but it was destroyed by a farmer who bought the land. ARRRGH.

Hello Valerie, I wish I could help, but I took a lot of my info from the same book. I did go to Green County, PA, trying to get some documentation on my line and became discouraged when I found three John [grandson of William] and Sarah Huggins, all three with five children, and in two families, all five children had the same given names and ages were close, but not the same. The three families lived in the same township. When I showed the info to the staff at the Genealogical Society there, they said "that isn't fair". We double checked film against the transcriptions in the Census books--same results. I do not know whether you have tried the Green County Genealogy Society, but theirs is one of the more active, and perhaps they might have some clues or ideas. I am a member of DAR on another line, or I would be stuck on Huggins also. Did you consider the DNA possibilities suggested by the other poster? I spoke with a relative of the author of the book and tried to track down where his research, notes, etc., may have gone when he died, but no luck there either. Good luck, Carolyn

I have this book and tried to use it as one of my source documents from William Sr. to Jacob (his other son, with John), to Lewis Huggins, to George W. Huggins and on "up to today" for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution whose membership committee rejected this book due to insufficient source cites.

Therefore, does *anyone* have any type of documentation (state, federal, maps, estate docs., etc.) proving that Jacob was, indeed, also a son of William Sr.? I have one "story" I found on line saying that "John Jr. went to live of his own volution with Jacob, his uncle." Does anyone have any writen proof of this, as it would prove Jacob was also a son of William, the Patriot? (This fact, i.e. that Jacob was also William's son, is what the DAR is requesting documentation for and which I'm having trouble finding.

Thanks in advance. Valerie Kuhn, 5th great granddaughter of William Huggins.

I really don't like this way of communicating....am forever getting a no results so have quit using this way. Thanks to another gal, Donna, who has been so kind in helping me with this. She just sent me some copies of the research Otis did and I've found many errors and conflicting info. Am in the process of listing them, will get them typed up and forward a copy to you as well. Think its a good idea if we all can pool our info maybe we can finally figure this thing out.
Kathy

WOW, Lewis (is this your name or the family you are researching?). Now this makes more sense. Back in the early 1900's I had two aunts(my grandfather's sisters, he was Charles Blair Huggins) that wrote down a bunch of family history. They said that our John Huggins and a brother came from England, landed in VA. One stayed in VA and the other went on to SC. For years I've questioned what Sellars said about John and Willis being cousins, not brothers but I just couldn't find any proof. Have you ever found any proof of Hannah being the sister of John Campbell?
Would you please reply to my email at tomiandsami@charter.net....I have such a hard time trying to navigate here. I keep messages "0 results found". I am going to start working on Hannah. Thanks ever so much,
Kathy
