he was my adopted grandfather.... confusing story.. california. great falls montana.. Married Ellen carolina Gibson.. I met one of my cousins that was a semi-por golfer. Tisha and Terri from Bakersfield. Mary Hughett - Bakersfield... Most Hughetts on my end are around Bakersfield california... any help???

T.A. (Bud) Hughett (my grandfather) and Pryor Hughett were bothers, their fathers name was Alex Hughett. Pryor Hughett married my grandmother Vanella Chambers; their childern were; Natilee, Archie, and Imogene (all now deseased). Vanella Chambers first married Guy Wyman, their daughter was Blanch Wyman, who married A.L. Hughett, (my parents).

Emmett's Lineage

Excellent! A little bit more for you then:

Emmett's father was James (the 8th generation in the lineage) as I mentioned. James was married twice, first to Emmett's mother Delphia Jeffers in about 1902 and then Loma Crabtree in 1936.

Delphia's Children were: Emmett, Emory, Emily, Ella, Joe, and Beatrice Mae.

Loma's Children were: Rebecca, Annette, Lester, Chester, Beverly, and Marvin.

James' parents were Calvin Hughett7 (07 Jan 1845-04 Oct 1924) and he married Rebecca Carson Phiffer.

Calvin's Parents were James Hughett6 (b: 1814 in Va.) and Elizabeth Mason Anderson

James' Parents were William T. Hughett5 (b: 17093 in Va.) and Catherine "Caty" Corum. William was also married later to Jincy Jeffers.

William T's parents were William E. Hughett4 (b: 1758 in Pa. d: 1837 in Va.) and Elizabeth Goad

William E's parents were John Hughett3 (b: 1733 in Pa. d: Sep 1812 in Bottetouet County VA) and married Elizabeth LNU

John's father was Joseph Hughett2 (b: 1715-1720 overseas possibly Ireland d: 27 Feb 1775). His mother is UNK.

Joseph's father was Joseph Hughett1 (b: 1690-1700 overseas possibly Ireland. He married UNK.)

Joseph the father traveled to America with his sons George, Joseph, and John.

We seriously need an edit option, sorry for the double post.

I know my Aunt Mae's (Beatrice Hughett Byrd) brother was an Emmett L. Hughett. He was born 25 Feb 1903, died 08 May 1954 in Scott County and married Flora Bell Byrd. His parents were James Hughett and Delphia Jeffers.

His children were:
Roy, Autry (maybe Lillard's middle name?), Ethel, Littie, and Etta

If this is your Emmett, let me know. If not, I can keep looking.

If he's the same one listed on my grandmother's family bible (And I'm fairly sure he is) he was born in 1889 and died in 1967 and had a twin brother named John who died in 1958. Thomas' father was names James Pryor Hughett b. 1/4/1863 d. 5/1/1934 and Loucretia Underwood b. 1863 d. 2/2/1903.

Thomas had two other brothers in addition to John and a sister. He also had three half brothers and three half sisters from James Pryor's first marriage to Mary Vanilla Chambers. (I'm descended from the first marriage.) Since the information I have concentrates mainly on the first marriage of James Pryor, I'm afraid I don't have much information on your great-grandfather but hopefully I've given you a few names or dates that will aid in your search.

Hello there!

I'm the granddaughter of Helen Natalie Potter née Hughett. She was the daughter of James Pyror Hughett and Mary Vanella Chambers. I use Vanella instead of Vanilla because this is the way it's recorded in our family bible. I have information on his marriage to Mary and names for her family going back to her great-grandparents on both sides and some information on his second wife Loucretia Underwood though this is mainly childrens names and years of birth.

If anyone would like to exchange information, I'd be most interested! I'm trying to build a family tree for my own son now.

I don't know if anyone is still using these boards or not but I have many photocopied pages from our family bible which was in possession of my grandmother who was the second daughter of James Pryor Hughett and Mary Vanella (This is the way it's spelled in the pages, not sure if it's correct or not) Chambers.

According to my records you're the daughter of Archie's second wife I believe? Which would make you my great-aunt.

Hi Jack, I am a Hughett too. I was born in Scott County, Tn as was all of my line. This is my line--Hubert Dean, Fred H., John G., Robert, William, William T. , William E., John, Joseph, Joseph. I have infor that the first Joseph Hughett was born in 1690 overseas probably Ireland. not sure if this is right. Would love to hear from you. My Dad married a Goad too. Isn't that something.

I have yor line going back into Floyd Co. VA. looks like we are related via William E. & Elizabeth Goad Hughett. they are my 5th G. grandparents. are buried in Floyd Co. I. have pix's of the "cemetery" after we cleaned & fenced it in 04

Well nice to see so many "other relatives" out there! Ok, please igonore the name above, my aunt and I share an account.

I am the grandaughter of Warren M. Hughett (dob 1/6/1926?)who is the sibling of Luella, JoAnn (aka Grumpy), Jewell, Theopolis, TJ (Thomas) and I know a few others, just cannot think of names off the top of my head.). I think my grandfather's mother was Maude - maybe.. but do not quote me on this! And I have never heard their father mentioned. Getting him to talk about his family is almost impossible. I do know that Warren is from the Norma, TN area (Scott County) and has never had a birth certificate (born on the kitchen table).

I live in Southwest Ohio and my cousins and I would like to start researching the family tree on this side. I can remember going to the family reunion in Virginia and TN back when I was little and growing up with my side of the Hughett family in the Cincinnati area. My grandmother's name was Jean Elswick and my mother's name was Sheila Debra.

I have also been told that all of Norma, TN is related to us as well as the Byrds in Scott County.

Most of their children were born in Scott County, TN (Warren, Jewel, Joann, Louella, Thomas Jr., Theopolis, and maybe more) as far as I know. I am the granddaughter of Warren Hughett. My mother and I lived in King County for years. I grew up there and moved to Yakima in the late 70's. My mother died there in 1970. Her name was Ruth Helen Hughett ( nee Agee)
my fathers' name was Leon James Hughett, and he was from Georgia. If you have any information about him, i would sure appreciate hearing from you. thanks

do rember Sherman but not Becky. Mary Lou made mention of you about the time your mother died. I did not see your mom and dad after they left Carlsbad. Sherry said she forwarded the pictures to you from grandmas old album. A lot of these people I don't know, Some of them are Hughllets, Catons, Devores and one of Pinina Toulson. I hope you enjoy them.Your grand dad Jim was one of my fovorite uncles.

You might also try the surname of Hewitt. I have just noticed in your (Hughett/Vandyke/Atkins/Cate genealogy listing ) my line of Hewitt (Hughett). My line is as follows;

Thomas Gordon Hewitt....Rosalie LaMarr my grandparents
