Hi

John Davis Hughes b. 1824/25 in Centre Co., PA (Bellefonte)father according to school records is Henry Hughs/Hughes.

The "Lamborn Family History Book" by Samuel LAMBORN lists his parents as Henry & Martha Jane (unknown) Hughes. (John Davis Hughes md. Hannah HICKS whose mother was Hannah Lamborn of the Lamborn's from Chester Co.
Hannah S. (Hughs/Hughes) Mears 1847-1915 & William Huse 1842-1924 TX & AL

I am seeking information on Hannah Sopheria/Sophronia Hughes, wife of William Tilford Mears who appear in Texas records. Her death certificate indicates she was born 23 May 1847 in Alabama (though the 1900 census gives 1850 as the year). A Family Treemaker website notes she was in Conecuh Co AL in 1850 and 1860, leading me to believe that she was the same Hannah Hughes who was listed in William A. Northcutt's household in 1850/1860 Conecuh as his niece. I would like to verify that.

Also, I found an abstract of an Alabama death certificate for a William Huse, born 1842 in Conecuh Co AL and died May 1924 in Conecuh Co AL. The parents are given as William Huse and Mary Northcutt and indicates that William was widowed at the time of his death in 1924. The abstract does not indicate who gave the information.

I believe Hannah and William to be sister and brother, and their likely mother Hannah Northcutt. I do not have a middle name for the elder Hannah, so it could be she was Hannah Mary Northcutt or Mary Hannah Northcutt. Additionally, one of Hannah Northcutt's sisters was named Sophia, which is extremely close to the younger Hannah's middle name.

As both William Huse (Hughs/Hughes) and Hannah Northcutt appear to have died prior to 1850, leaving the children orphans, I have been searching in the dark for a number of years. Finding Hannah (Hughes) Mears and William Huse are the first breakthroughs.

Any help is appreciated.
I would like to find info on Mildred Hughs Dalton. She married Louis M Dalton in 1917 Arkansas. I would like to find out if Mildred died between 1917 and 1920'S. I am working on the Hanks Family line. In this line Richard Hanks daughter Cordia Hanks married a man by the name of Louis Dalton that was a widower with children, in the state of Arkansas. Thanks

I would love to hear what info you have. My email is foxyleigh2000@yahoo.com. The census's state he is from North Carolina, some have in their family trees that is is from Ireland but i'm not finding confirmation on either account. Also, his headstone states he is born in 1786 and his age in the censuses support this, but I also see most have 1780. Thanks for responding to my query!

Leigh

I am looking for information re: Ann Hughs. I know very little about her. I believe she was born abt 1820 in Ireland and was married to a Peter Hughes. My theory is she was widowed by 1880 (possibly 1870) and came to this country, having 2 sons already here. She had several children 2 of whom were named Ellen and Henry. I can find her on the 1880 census and Worcester city directories for 1888, 1889 and 1890. I cannot find her on the 1900 census, so I think she may have died by then. I believe she may be my ggreat grandmother and would like more information.
Marie

I have a Morris family in our line. They started in Shelby County IL and by 1850 were in Warren County. That is close to Hancock County. Perhaps there is a connection. Some of them say their parents were born in Indiana. But as you know, that information varies from census to census depending on who talked to the census taker.
I have a Nancy UNKNOWN-MORRIS with children..all born in Indiana. The closest we found to being their parents would be these too. The youngest child known was born in Greene Co., In and these 2 were married in Harrison Co in 1819

Is anyone searching or have info on either of these two? We found our Nancy in the 1850 Hancock Co., Ill census with children. She was born abt 1798 according to that census, place place Ohio (Most kids have put Indiana for both parents, one -the youngest had maintianed having Kentucky and Tennessee for each, sometimes reversed. One had either Ohio or Indiana, so it could be someone esle giving the information.

Thanks In Advance
