Hi, Eva!

My name is Maxim. I'm from Ukraine.

I found your message too late, but I want to tell about my family. The name of my great-grandfather is Gregory Hula. His

sister Catherine moved with her husband John in the U.S. in 1921. She was born in the village Nakonechne near the town

Yavoriv outside the city of Lviv.

I know that she had a large family (she had near 10 children). I know the names of some of them - Wasyl, Peter, George, John,

Stephen, Nicholas, Anna, Rosalia, Sofia. Сatherine with her children visited my great-grandfather Gregory three times in the

early 1970-s. At this time Gregory lived in little town Krasne near Lviv. We also have photos that were made at this time.

If you are interested in my post, write me a letter on e-mail address: maksym.om@gmail.com.

Thank You.

Sorry my bad English.

Hi Carol, Your Hula and Seidenglanz families can be from surroundings of Kdyne town in Domazlice area in southwest Bohemia. Both surnames are still common in this area. Lot of emmigrants from this area settled down in Wisconsin, Minnesota or Illinois.
All the best from Czech. Tony.

Oh, you are so very welcome! I just LOVE success stories! :>) Most people check Ancestry.com for everything, but I have found that information prior to 1920 is often more prevelent on Genealogy.com. I have full subscriptions to both.
And may I thank YOU for taking the time to thank me! Many people don't bother - and it's all those of us that answer on these boards really want. It means a lot to us.
Denise

Zlatica Beca,
Thank you for your very helpful suggestions about research resources for Jan HULLA. You asked about 1910 or 1920 censuses.
I do have a coroner's report on Jan's death by suicide placing him in Chicago in 1896. Marie his widow appears in the 1910 census index in the 10th ward, Chicago at 1454 W. 18th St although I have yet to find that original image at ancestry.com.
Marie's death certificate in 1921 says that she had lived in Chicago 35 years and in the U.S. 50 years. Also that they married in 1871, the 1921 informant being a relative, Anna HULLA--a daughter? Marie's parents were Krel? & Anna (BERNARD) SEIDENGLANZ.
I have not been able to find Jan & Marie in 1880 census or earlier as single persons or married to others. They did definitely have a daugher Libbie in Chicago in 1882 (my husband's grandmother).
If you have any further recommendations, I will be grateful.

Want to learn about the immigration of Jan Hulla or Hula to Chicago from Bohemia, year unknown. He lived from about 1821 to 1896, died in Chicago. (Older records sometimes show "Hula" spelling, later used "Hulla" regularly.)
A George Hulla appeared at the coroner's inquest to represent the family. Jan was married about 1871 in Chicago? to Marie SEIDENGLANZ, also from Bohemia, (1841-1921). Who was George?

Saw your posting. I am just starting to research my husband's line with a great grandfather named HULLA or HULA from Bohemia we think, born about 1856 and married a girl named SEIDENGLANZ or SEIDENKLANZ. By 1886 they were in Chicago, Cook Co, IL and had daughter Libbie HULLA in 1886, said to have nine older brothers. But we find no record of these brothers so far. Do we have a link?

Later on Frank's wife Dorothy or dorothia came to the US and Brought her daughters Annie and Doris Louis's twin sister. Doris died in 1908 I don't know her maiden name. She does have a daughter who is still living her name is Cecilia but I don't know her last name either if any one has any information please e-mail me at kwkw@netins.net I'm sorry this is all that she knows about her family.

Hi, I would like to know where your ancestry originated from. My grandparents(John and Catherine Hula) came from Ukraine in the early 1900's(1919-1920?) As far as I know they came from a little town outside the city of Lviv. Thank You-Eva Hula

I once met you, the summer that you found my grandfather, Edward Hula in Columbia Falls, MT. I am his oldest Grandkid. I just discovered you have this tree going. I would appreciate any assistance in filling out the branches. I know that Joe Hula was married to Barbara Krejci om 1920, and that she is from Bolivier Missouri, if that helps you any. I would appreciate anything you may have on Vit and Anna Hula. Thank you!!
Katherine
