I found out the Native American connection last year when I was on Ancestry.com I found that there were some Hulbert Native Americans in California also. There are also slaves with the Hulbert name. Found those on Ancestry.com also. Just look at the Native American and slave census.

I am a Hulbert. My father was Alvin Scott Hulbert. His father was Adelbert Hulbert b.1862,Adelbert's father was Isaac b.1822 d.1894 in Montague Mich.He was in the Civil War out of New York.He was with the 16th co. heavy artillery. Adelbert's mother was Eliza Reando,french spelling Reandeaux (french Canadian decent)Eliza's father was from Quebec,her mother from France.Isaac and Eliza's sons were William Henry b.1846,John b.1857, William b.1861, Adelbert b.1862, Frederick b.1863. This is as far as I have been able to get..So I thought someone may have some information...

Still not many answers for the Hulbert ancesters, alot of light shed on other branches though. I did get as far as William Hulbert from Connecticut but nothing earlier than that.

Is anyone researching the HULBERTs from Melksham and surrounding villages who is not already in contact with me? I have pinned down Jacob Hulbert as having been born in Sept 1791 in the Melksham area and I think (but am not able to be 100% sure) he was the son of Richard and Betty (ADY). He served in the Peninsular Wars, giving a higher age than the truth on enlistment. He worked in the cloth industry, as did his whole family and relatives in Bradford on Avon after marrying Frances (Fanny) HICK in Feb 1815. They had 10 children, all in Bradford on Avon. Then, in 1849, he became a Chelsea Pensioner living in and wearing the scarlet jacket, and he died in the Chelsea Hospital in 1869.

Hello to all Hulberts. I am trying to help my husband find information about his biological father. What he has gotten from his mother is very sketchy. My husband was born in Syracuse, N.Y. in Nov. of 1950. His mother is from Russia and they met at the end of WW II. I have found where they came to N.Y on a passenger ship. The Hulbert that was listed was a Frank M. Hulbert. I have not found and record of a marriage or divorce. We have heard that Frank remarried and had 4 or 5 sons. We also know that Frank passed in the early to mid 2000. Does this man sound familiar to anyone. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have asked the same question! I did a DNA test with 2 other family names.

I am Frank A Hulbert Jr and I tested with a member of the Hurlbut family and the another surname spelled different and we were from branches of the English Hulbert Clan. All 3 genetic matches.

This does not always happen!

When my family tree is available for display at www.smgf.org you should be able to see this. Mr Hurlbut and I had same distant descendents.

The Hulbert line came from england and I am trying to trace other connections to it now.

Thanks ever so much for your message, its nice to find another relative, however distant. You mention that you have been unable to go any further back from John Hulbert who married Sarah, as I have not been able to either. A trip to the record office is in order, but this will probably be after Christmas. I will look on my family tree to see exactly where you fit in.

My grandfather was Leslie Hulbert and he was the great grandson of John (1800-1868) and Sarah (1802-1891), his father was Sidney (born Trowbridge 1876 died Morden Surrey 1935) and his grandfather was John (born Trowbridge 1837 died Trowbridge 1897) I believe the John you mention died in 1868, his death being registered in Melksham. I have been unable to go any further back.

I was told many years ago as a boy by an old lady who was a DAR person from Oneonta, NY that thru a Keith line my family was related to this William Hulbert of Burlington Flats nearby. We used to live near Delhi in Delaware County.

Does anyone have any information on William's line or can help with this. I have done a lot of searching from Raleigh, NC and find very little.

Looking for information on this family, particularly where in PA that they lived for a time. Of particular interest is their 4th child, Harriet. I believe she [as Harriet Holbert] might be the wife of John Young, said to have been born in PA [county unknown].

John and Harriet had three children in PA [Abby, 1834-1914;Gilbert 1838 - 1851; Caroline 1842-1907] before moving to North Dorchester, Middlesex Co., Ontario sometime before 1848.

Looking for info/records on birth, siblings, and parents of Alexander Hulbert. Born in Louisiana, listed as mulatto, lived in Memphis, TN as an adult. Married a woman named Bessie (maybe 1908) but can't find any records between LA, TN, or MS. I believe his father was from Western Europe (possibly Ireland or England). If anyone can tell me something, it is appreciated. Hopefully there's a church record of his birth or a listing in a family bible. A death record might be helpful too. He's my grandfather who died possibly 15 years prior to my birth.

We have been unable to find any further info on Homer. Does anyone know anything at all about this boy? Josiah and Huldah are my great great grandparents, and I have even speculated that Huldah was married before and that Homer is her son. (Don't we all wish that there was more info in the 1850 census...?) I would really appreciate any info.

Will that variation in spelling occur because of different countries? Or from the mistakes of census reports?
My fathers own name was written wrong by napoleans' people changing the spelling from Gasrel to Garel in different parts of brittany.

Charles was born in 1806 and died in 1865. He was a son of Moses and Abigail Sturges Hulbert and was born in NY. His siblings are: Jacob, Margarett, Elias, Joseph, Samuel Johnson, Phebe, (then Charles), and Stephen Burdette. I have been in contact with descendants of Elias, Joseph, and Stephen. Samuel is my GGG Grandfather.

Sidney Hulbert was my grandfather who married Ida and moved to 19 Crown La.
Morden Surrey.He died before I was born but I have fond memories of "Nanny
Hulbert" and a small house full of uncles and aunts at Christmas!
You must be the daughter of one of my cousins,but I can't think which one - I'm
so poor at keeping in touch!
