sorry so long in response. There are two Cullens. one born around 1800 and the other 1845. As far as I know, the younger Cullen was married to Martha Agnes. I don't know of older Cullen full name and wife. something of mystery. Also, what happened to him after 1840. died young? It seems there are a lot of 'cousins' in Tennessee.
Teresa

I am searching the same family tree. Annie Pamlea Hungerford starts my branch of the Hungerford tree. I had Martha Agnes Tate as Cullens wife at one time but could not find anything on her either. Funny how your Jimmy Hungerford was born in Rogersville, Tn and so was I.
If you know of anything else, please share and I will do the same. Paige

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a match or not but I have a Dudley Henry Hungerford and his brother Harold Hungerford in my family tree. Dudley born 1899 and Harold in 1901. They are the two youngest sons of my GGGrandmother Annie Grace WEBB/BROUGHTON/HUNGERFORD (from her second marriage but I can't find any offical record of the marriage). I have a copy of the 1901 census that has Annie with children from her first marriage, Dudley and Harold but not the husband/father. Her first husband died in 1896.

Hello. The family can be found in the 1900 census in Pennsylvania, Potter county, Roulette township, Supervisor's District #11, Enumeration District #116, Sheet #1A, (Series T623, Roll 1482, page 252.) It lists Judson, wife Lizzie & children Flora, Vincent & Glenn. It also implies the couple had a fourth child who had passed away before 1900. Vincent's marriage can also be found in the Montana records.

I'm doing a one name study of the Hungerfords--I would be interested in the death certificate info if you are willing to share--I'm at rwhomaha@tconl.com.

I hope this helps.

Notice how they butchered Inga's parents names? It is a bit similar on the Canadian 1911 Census. Apparently they all had very strong accents and made it difficult to interpret. This makes it all the more fun for us to find them!

I am searching for info on Glenn Hungerford born in Pennsylvania, Jan. 6, 1895. I seem to have hit a bick wall, can't seem to locate information on siblings, or parents. Since I do not have names, etc. for them, it seems almost impossible to get any further with this branch of the family tree. The birth info was obtained from death records, and may not be 100% accurate. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know, but it is always worth checking out. My in-laws are related to the Hungerford's and we can't get back past Curtis Leroy Hungerford due to the fact that he was a ward of the state of CT. His parents are unknown to us, but Curtis Leroy was born in 1893 and died in Binghamton, Broome County, NY. Please if you can help I would appreciate it as well.

An Appeal

I was asked to pass this along.

An Appeal to all Hungerfords and associated families

Dear cousins,

All Hungerfords and descendants interested in their family history will know that our most famous ancestors lived at Farleigh Hungerford Castle in Somerset.

Most will also know that when the original manor house was fortified with a curtain wall and battlements in 1383, that particular endeavour enclosed the church which was the centre of worship for the community - and it became the castle chapel.

In order to provide a substitute place for public worship, Walter Lord Hungerford built a new church (consecrated 1443) which became the parish church of St. Leonard, and which stands today, overlooking the castle.

For some years, the fabric of the church has been maintained by the Trust of the Friends of St. Leonard`s. The building is most attractive, and is, thanks to the Friends and their fund-raising, in good condition.
However, although the Friends hold funds which will maintain the building in the short term, we have to pay certain running costs and repairs which will drain our resources. As this church may be regarded as `home` to all Hungerfords (and it features an ancient stained-glass image of Sir Thomas Hungerford, First Speaker of the House of Commons), I write to invite all Hungerfords to help the Friends ensure that the church stands for future generations.

My fellow Trustee, Guy Hungerford, who is Chairman, at a recent meeting of the Friends, has asked me to write to you all. We know that many of you visit the Castle, and perhaps the pub - the Hungerford Arms! We do hope that you will also walk the little way up the hill to the church, go in to say a prayer, and give thanks for God`s blessings upon our worldwide family.

But we also hope that you would like to contribute to the upkeep of this ancient and delightful church, perhaps with a single generous donation, or a regular gift by standing order, or even by leaving a bequest in your will.

Details of any of these ways of contributing can be obtained from the Treasurer, Robin Allen at `Little Pomeroy`, Farleigh Hungerford, Bath, BA2 7RP or deballen63@googlemail.com

The Trustees greatly appreciate anything that you can give. Thank you very much.

Robin Hungerford, Trustee
( rhungerford157@btinternet.com )

Et Dieu Mon Appuy
Doug
I am sorry that I didn't reply sooner, as the message board did not let me know that you had posted. I am very interested in exchanging information on these families. I definately believe that Simon & Levi(Elijah) were sons of Elijah & Sara Rice Hungerford son of Jonathan Hungerford of Conn to New York. Elijah Hungerford signed his full name on a deed transferr to his son Heman Hungerford in Missouri around 1834. I want to know more of Simons' sons & daughters.
Yvonne

Rebecca is the wife of Thomas Hungerford "of Blacklands." This Thomas was thought to be the Thomas of Connecticut but it has been discounted as too many facts get in the way of the two being one in the same. Thomas of CT died before 1675 when this fellow died. Rebecca's will was dated in 1680--in England. This couple had 4 children, including a Thomas, and they have all been documented not to have moved to America.

Hi. A Hungerford descendant in Indiana here. I very recently stumbled upon a name for Thomas (father of Thomas Hungerford B1648) Hungerford's first wife. The name is Rebecca Wallis, just don't ask me to prove it. :)

I got the name from a website on the English Tudors,

http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/HUNGERFORD.htm

No info there on her lineage, but One World Tree connections have her born 1606, died 1657 in New London, Connecticut. There is quite a bit on the English Hungerfords at the Tudorplace site. Anyone interested, please spend some time there and post back here with your thoughts. I thought that what is there pertaining to my Hungerford lineage matches quite well with what I've been able to patch together previously from various sources.

Bill Baetz

I am a descendant of Thomas Hungerford and Mary Gray but I find their children's records really confusing! I have that Thomas and Mary Gray had a son also named Thomas. This Thomas Jr. married Elizabeth Smith and had a son, Captain John Hungerford. Here is where it gets sticky, who did he marry??? I have found names John Jr. married Deborah ??? and then without the Jr. marrying Lucy???? Then I find Lucina Hungerford who is their daughter, (I think) marrying Eliada Orton. From their on down I can document records. Can anyone clear up the mess above for me or advice???

Capt. John Hungerford, Jr. (he was the second John for this family) was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Smith) Hungerford. (By the way--no one knows the maiden name of his father's mother--it may be Gray, Graves, or Green) John was born 4 Mar 1718 in East Haddam, Middlesex county, Connecticut and died at Southington, Hartford county, Connecticut on 24 Dec 1787. He married twice. The first wife was Deborah Hungerford, daughter of John & Deborah (Spencer) Hungerford. Capt. John married her on 27 Dec 1739 in East Haddam. Deborah died 14 Oct 1750 in East Haddam. John then married Lucy, maiden name unknown, in 1751. They had 4 girls and a son John. Lucy was the second daughter.

At this time each Hungerford son was "producing" approximately 15 children each. It is very confusing trying to sort through all of them. I hope this helps.
