Hi,

I have gone back on the Hutcheon tree to William Hutcheon born 1740 Achorthy, Banchory Devenick, Kincardine
dont have name of spouse but have the names of the children.
I also have other stuff, but mine originated from the Aberdeen Area as far as I know.
but then again from William born 1740 they could of branched out further again.

Will have a look at your information in detail and get back to you.

my name is derek hutcheon im from the glasgow area this is my first time looking into family ties i dont knw any better but lookin at ur message both my dad and grandad are named alexander george hutcheon who are nt from aberdeen but thy are nt from glasgow either from wht i gather i remember here bout my granda takin us to the river carron i think thts how u spell it while there he used to tell us tht he d been at certain parts around the river area alistar daniel charles kenneth are other names tht r in the family names i thnk nt 100% sure but thin he had 7 brothers wht i do knw is tht a few family member r buried in livingston somewhere maybe it will help u or maybe ul b able to help me thanks derek oh and thr is a couplw andrews im sure

Can anyone enlighten me on this lady. I believe she may have been born in South Shields and moved to Kingston on Thames, Surrey, where she died in 1982. She worked in a Zeeta's, a tea shop in Kingston, around 1938. I would be grateful to hear from anyone who may know something. Her son is trying to trace her.

My ggggg grandparents were William Barclay and Margaret Hutcheon who married: 22 Jun 1727 — Ellon,Aberdeen,Scotland.
The only Margaret Hutcheon born in the Ellon parish I have around 1700 is as follows:
Margaret born/baptised 23 Aug 1702 at ELLON,ABERDEEN,SCOTLAND
father: Alexander Hutcheon

Has anyone come across Margaret/Alexander Hutcheon or William Barclay as above? Please note their son Andrew Barclay is my gggg-grandfather who settled at Old Meldrum, Aberdeenshire, spouse unknown.

Appreciate any help with the above.

I have an Alexander Hutcheon born 1778 in Banchory, Devenick, Kincardine Scotland.
Father name is William Hutcheon mother is Jean Reid.

Also have an Alexander Hutcheon born 1845 Logie Buchan, Aberdeen,Scotland. Father George Hutcheon mother Juliet Forrest.

Then have an Alexander born 1871 Ellon, Aberdeen Scotland. Father Thomas Hutcheon mother Jane Bain.

Do any of the above Alexander's come into your family or the parents

I have ancestors from Aberdeenshire. I don't know whether or not they were Hutcheons or Dixons or both. My mother(Hutcheon) talked about a seafaring family of 5 or 6 captains and 1 commodore. My father (Dixon) talked about stonemasons. I don't know whether or not our ancestors intersect but I thought I'd email you just in case. I'm new at this.

I am researching my husbands family tree for him and his hutcheon connections come from aberdeen.

I have a John Hutcheon who married Christina Anderson. His father was called Thomas Hutcheon and his mother called Jean/Jane Bain.

Thomas was born 1841 and married Jean bain on 6th Dec 1862 at Foveran, Aberdeen, Scotland.
children:
George Hutcheon born abt1863 foveran, aberdeen.
Thomas Hutcheon born abt1864 foveran, aberdeen
Anne Hutcheon born abt 1866 Ellon, aberdeen
James Hutcheon born abt 1870 ellon aberdeen
Jane Hutcheon born abt 1869 ellon aberdeen
Julia Hutcheon born abt 1875 foveran, aberdeen
John Hutcheon born abt 1879 foveran, aberdeen
William Hutcheon born abt 1877 foveran, aberdeen
Alexander Hutcheon born abt 1871 ellon, aberdeen
Robert Hutcheon born abt 1882
Archibald Hutchon born abt 1887
Andrew Hutcheon born abt 1889

Is there any connection of the above in you own family tree.

hi my husbands family originated from Aberdeen. his father was called James Hutcheon born 23 Sep 1923, he lived at School Croft, Belhelvie, Aberdeen. His father was called John Hutcheon who married Christina Anderson in 1904 in Ellon, Aberdeen. His father was called Thomas Hutcheon and mother called Jean Baine.. They both went to South America (Chile) as quite young lads, to avoid we think diptheria, around 1896/98.

I do have a photo or two somewhere which I will try to forward. Harry worked for James and left South America in the early 20's got married to a Fraser from Forfar and emigrated to NZ, he and James died in Jan 1924 within 3 days of each other.

James was given his big break by James Rollo Duncan of Duncan and Penny Gold mines, he became by 1910 a succesfull carter, transporting goods throughout Chile/Bolilve for the ining industry, he got involved in all aspects of transport and had a bit to do with the railway development.

Yes I have heard and read about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid etc, in fact when one of them was killed he had Harry's business cards (in abuncance) on him. They were most likely employed as carters.

James was known as "Santiago" Hutcheon even in Scotland, he spent a lot of time in Scotland between 1916 and 1924 and I think most of his children (10 in number) were born there.

I will try to find the disk with the photo's and see if I can send some, do you live in Scotland, are you related?

I'm particularly interested in the SOuth American years, as the Hutcheon family was associated with Butch cassidy when he was in Bolivia.

Are there photographs of James and Harry by any chance, particularly in SOuth America?

Do you know anything about their time in South America, particualrly in Bolivia between about 1905 and 1910?

Did they leave any papers or memoirs at all?

But basically anything you can provide to throw more light on them would be very hekpfuk.

His father was suppose to be a James.
Does this have anything to do with you?

I don't think it is the same family, however Elizabeth did have a brother Robert Hall Baxter Tytler who my grandmother referred to as cousin Bobbie. He was born in Rosehearty in Aberdeen Scotland in 1897 and did I belive come out to New Zealand. He may well have moved on to Australia. I don't have a Andrew but if he is younger it is possible that Robert had younger siblings.He had older brothers George,William and Alexander

Hi, iam the only surviving son of David Hutcheon and Margaret Augusta (Pearl). Un fortunately both brothers died in 2004, David, in May and Ronnie in July. Davids wife Ethel also died in May. My cousin Barbara Ashby who lives in Hastings, England told me about you and sent me a letter. As you see I am only getting around to the subject. My ggreat grandmother was Emilia Sibley her maiden name on her childrens birth cert says Hutcheon .Emilia was born in Guernsey or Germany the census records say different countries
Emilia married a John Sibley and from the census records lived in St Pancras,Tottenham,Islington areas of Middlesex from 1841.She was born in 1807/11,they had 11 children one of whom took her maiden name as his second name Alexander Hutcheon Sibley b1842
I have looked for their marriage cert but too many John Sibleys to narrow it down and can't find Emilia but she died in 1882.
One census spells the name Hutchinson!

James Hutcheon was you father's brother, he had a son called James, and two daughters one called Ann and the other called Sandra.
James married Elizabeth (Lily), sadly Lily passed away on the 26th January this year and James is quite ill at the moment.

I am looking for any information on David HUTCHEON, an Army Major in the Gordon Highlanders, killed at Anzio, Italy 4 February 1944. He was born 2 March 1904 at Menmuir Parish, Scotland the son of James Croll HUTCHEON and Violet Mary GIBB. David married Margaret Augusta "Pearl" ROBERTSON circa 1932 in New Delhi, India. David and Pearl had 4 known children:
i. David Hutcheon, b c.1936, Edinburgh
ii. Ann Hutcheon, b. c.1937, Edinburgh
iii. Ronald Hutcheon, b. c.1940, Castlerock, Ireland
iv. Jan Hutcheon, b. c.1942, Castlerock, Ireland
Pearl and her children were still in Ireland as of 1946 but mentioned in a letter that she planned to go back to Scotland to raise her children in their father's homeland.

We have recently learned the James' father's name was John Gordon and his mother's name was Annie Clayton. They probably died about 1912. John Gordon Hutcheon was a Mechanical Engineer in or near London.

My father James Hutcheon was one of her sons and is still alive today.

Did you know which I have only found out about that during the war there was an article with a picture of the whole family in it as they did a story because there where 8 siblings in the war brothers and sisters and it was unusual at that time for as many members of a whole family serving in the war.

I have visited the church yard where my grandmother was buried I used to go up with my parents to visit my grandmother when she was alive.

Have traced Hutcheons from Dumbarton (nearish Loch Lomond) back to St. Vigean's parish.

Have found William Hutcheon, b. 09 June 1767, Parish of St V's, Parents = William H and Helen Paterson. Sibling = Mary.

He married Isobel (Isabel?) Gordon 7th Feb 1794.

Qu.1 - Does anyone have info on the parents, please (b or m or d or their parents)?

Qu. 2 - Is this the same William H (ie born 1767) that had a son William H with Is-a-bel Gordon, on 17 jan 1798?

Dear Hutcheons

I am trying to trace the descendants of the following Hutcheons:

Mrs M Hutcheon of 15 Ashley Road Aberdeen who was married to William Hutcheon of Tillycorthie, Udny, Aberdeen.

They had a son James K Hutcheon who died in Aberdeen in 1924 after a lengthy period in South America, particularly Bolivia and Chile. James was born in about 1882.

James was married to Frances Millar, who was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In 1920 she was living at 14, Leamington Terrace, Edinburgh, but after her husband's death lived at 312 Washington Street, Cumberland, Pennsylvania.

James & Frances had at least five childre (probably more) - Frances Rhoda Hutcheon, born in La Paz in about 1907; James K Junior, born Cumberland, Maryland in about 1908, and was living at Marchiston Castle, Edinburgh in 1924; Colin Campbell Hutcheon, who was born in La Paz in about 1910 and who went to the US in 1924; Arthur Alexander Hutcheon, born in La Paz in about 1912. All these four children appear to have moved to thier mother's address in the USA following their father's death in 1924, or may already have been living there and simply crossed the Atlantic for thier father's funeral and then returned home.

Harry P Hutcheon was another child of James and Frances, born in Valdivia, Chile in about 1917/18.

James senior had a brother or half brother called Harry Baxter Hutcheon, who was born in Aberdeen in about 1875. He also spent a great deeal of time in Bolivia and other parts of South America before returning to Scotland.

Another possible brother was Adam C Hutcheon, who was born in about 1882, who was born in Aberdeen and travelled to the US from Leith in 1922.

Any leads gratefully accepted, particularly about Harry B and James Ks South American years
