Ann, I can help you with the Waldron connection in Canada. My Greatgrandmother was Florilla Adelaide Barlow who was adopted by Horace Hutchins and Florilla Waldron in Kemptville, Ontario, Canada. Florilla Adelaide Barlow was Florilla Barlow Hutchins grand-niece. I gather her mother Obedience Cook Barlow died when she was 5 yrs. old. So Horace Hutchins and Florilla Waldron must be my great great great grand uncle and aunt by marriage?

I may be able to help you somewhat on this end of things.
Cheers,
Sue Herring whose mother was Helen Hutchins Keegan Kemptville, ON.

MN St census 1895 Deerhorn, MN Wilkins Co 1905 Humboldt, MN
Clay Co. 1910 census Barnville, MN Clay Co 1930 Pelican Rapids MN Otter Tail Co are the locations I found for Allen Vidger & family. Census data says wife Ellen/Ella had 8 children with four surviving listing George,Harry, Mabel and Wilbur. Occupations listed farmer & Liveryman. Regarding listed death data for Edith Vidger Brown meant to
point out erronous info listing Sidney Vidger and Juliette Hiutchins as Parents. Could find nothing on George's death or burial location.

RE Hannibal I noticed the entries you mentioned, his wife is Alice Southworth. As For Edith she appears on the 1880 census in the home of her Uncle Samuel Vidger Jr. and Etta with her grandparents in Ft Covington. Edith died in May 1941 she is buried in the Bangor Cemetery. She married a Frank Brown abt 1893. The death announcement appeared in the Ft. Covington Sun in on 15 May 1941 and mentioned a surviving sister in Iowa which has to be Etta. Also found Allen with the misspelled surname with his grandparents.
Will continue to see if I can pick him up after 1880

Hi and thanks for the info. Allen Samuel is actually listed in the 1880 census as "Allen Tidger" and living with the Hutchins family. Allen moved to Fergus Falls, MN where he married another "emigrant" from Franklin County, NY.

Allen Samuel Vidger and Ella Etta Hoyt are my great-grandparents, but my father (1930-2010) claimed her never met them due to the fact both passed away in 1938.

Allen Samuel had two younger sisters: Edith and Etta Vidger. I think one of them remained in NY and the other moved to Nebraska by 1892 and married there.

I know its a big ask, but I'm only interested in their childhood years -- after their parents died in the 1870s. I know that Edith and Etta were taken in by members of the Vidger family, but I don't know how long that lasted.

As for Hannibal H Vidger (1865-1926), he is a bit of a mystery man. He married one of the Southworth's. He appears in the 1870 and 1880 censuses -- living with Samuel Sr and Ellen Vidger. In one census, he is listed as their "grandson" and in the other census he's their "son". It does make me think something fishy is going on. I'd love to get my hands on his birth certificate.

As for most of the Vidger clan, they seem to have gravitated towards Fargo for reasons unknown, but apparently prospered there. So its a mystery why Allen Samuel moved from NY to Minnesota, and avoided Fargo.
RE: The Vidger family data you are seeking. I find Samuel and family on the census from 1850 thru 1880 with the exception of the 1860 census. They are residing in Ft. Covington, NY during this period Ellen is listed as born abt 1823 either in NY or Canada most listings say NY. A son Sidney and family appear in Bangor, NY in 1870 as does George,Juliette, and Allen. Allen does not show up on any of the further searches I have made thus far, although I turned up a Hannibal Vidger in Fargo ND in 1900 who appears to be related. It might be helpful to know where & when Allen settled in MN and possible dates if known. Julliette is buried Briggs St Cemetery in Westville, NY Franklin Co

I am a descendant of Juliette Hutchins (daughter of Allen Dana and Marietta Hutchins). Juliette married George Vidger and they had 3 children. It appears that she may have died during childbirth, and George died whilst shingling his barn roof.

Their only son (Allen Samuel Vidger) was my great-grandfather. I believe he was taken in by the Hutchins family after the death of George Vidger, and later moved to Minnesota where he raised a family.

I am working on a Vidger family tree during their time in Bangor/Malone/Ft Covington, but it has a few gaps.

If anyone has any info regarding Juliette and/or George Vidger (and their two daughters), please get in touch!

Also I am interested in any details regarding George's mother Ellen/Helen Vidger. I know his father Samuel was from Bath, England -- however I know next to nothing about Ellen/Helen and her origins.
Henry is my step-grandfather. He and my grandmother were together for over 30 years prior to her passing away this year. He has a sister that he is currently living with and they live in Mansfield, OH. I know he stated that he was originally from ga, I'm just not sure what area. I also know that he also had children in that area.

Does the family still have his archives (correspondence on Hutchins, genealogies used in the books etc.) and can they be reviewed by others? Are any family members interested in having further data on persons listed in his books?

Thanks for the information. It's interesting about the drowning and funeral/burial.

Do you have any information at all on the children of John & Lucy Hutchins Taylor? All I have (before your msg) is Amos b abt 1768 d 11 Feb 1849, Nathan b abt 1774 d 20 Apr 1855, Abraham b 11 Dec 1772 (son of John & Lucy?) d 4 Sep 1860 and John b 1781 (son of John & Lucy?).

My wife is descended from John Taylor b1781 d28 Dec 1870 and his wife Abigail Pillsbury b1783 Vassalbory and I think he's a son of John & LUcy, but I have no proof/sources.

Regards,
Bob
I am descended from John and Lucy Hutchins Taylor's daughter Lucy Taylor 1767 - 1826, who married Solomon Bixby. I have the complete line from Lucy Taylor Bixby down to me, but have traced no others of their children. Here is some interesting information about Lucy Taylor Bixby:

Rumor says that Lucy Taylor Bixby died a suicide, according to Mrs. Frances Turner Voter who told that to her grandson Sherwood W. Anderson. She drowned in the Kennebec River and the body was found three weeks later.

A letter of Albert E. Taylor written June 20, 1930, reads: "We find Lucy Taylor descended from the Taylors of Wells and Vassalboro. [Thomas] was an elder [half] brother of my third-great grandfather John Taylor of Alewife [W. Kennebunk]. Reckoning by generations, Thomas Taylor would be her great grandfather."

Albert Edward Taylor was the great-great-great-great grandson of Joseph Taylor by his second wife as follows: (10) Joseph, (9) John, (8) Col. John, (7) Jediah, (6) Deacon Nathaniel, (5) Edward, (4) A. E. Taylor. According to his letter of 20 June 1930, a copy of which belongs to Sherwood W. Anderson, it is evident that (9) Thomas was a son of (10) Joseph by his first wife, and that Lucy Taylor is descended from him.

Hanson's 'History of the Old Towns of Norridgewock and Canaan' says on page 316 "The oldest inscription in this cemetery reads thus: 'Mrs. Lucy, wife of Solomon Bixby, died Sept. 16, 1826, aged 59 years." She was drowned in the Kennebec River. 'Bert' Taylor's letters throw light upon this tragic event:

"And by the way, the death of Lucy Taylor was an accident, not suicide as many of her descendants have thought. On my plan where it is marked with ink is where Lucy Taylor Bixby was drowned. She was trying to get round a brush fence that went down to the water edge. One of her shoes stuck in the mud. It was three weeks before she was found. The body had passed over the rips, lodged against a stone. Nathan Parlin was out fishing and found it . . . Just before the funeral the sodden remains were wrapped in a web of linen taken from the loom. But the casket remained on the brook bank until it was borne to the cemetery. Parson Peet Josiah Peet preached from "What I do now ye know not, but ye shall know hereafter." All these items I got from Aunt Julia Haynes. She was at work in Dea. Sol's family at the time. At the State of Maine picnic a week or two ago [1929] I met a Mr. Reed of Vassalborough. He said when he was a boy there were still Taylors in Vassalborough, that they were thrifty, well-to-do people. One should judge so by the nice things Lucy Taylor brought with her when she married Dea. Sol. Bixby." [Source: page 9 of John H. Bixby's typed manuscript, in the possession of S.W. Anderson.]

"Revolutionary War Record.--- Nathan Parlin enlisted as a boatman and went with Arnold's expedition in Oct., 1775, up the Kennebec, was taken prisoner in Quebec and the next year was exchanged and returned by way of Albany, N. Y. In Aug., 1777, he enlisted with five other man to serve as scouts up the Kennebec river." The Parlin Genealogy, The Descendants of Nicolas Parlin of Cambridge, Mass, p. 50. This may have been the Nathan Parlin, 1749 - 1833, who found Lucy Talor Bixby's drowned body in the Kennebec.

Hi:

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any info on the ancestors of Lucy Huchins/Hutchins Taylor or her husband John Taylor.

Do you have any info on their children? I'm trying to confirm that the John Taylor (b 1781 and d 28 Dec 1870) who married Abigail Pillsbury (INT-12 Apr 1803 Vassalboro) was the son of John and Lucy (Huchins/Hutchins) Taylor. I'd appreciate any help you can provide.

Regards,
Bob
I have been searching for the father of John W. Hutchins of Rutherford County, Tennessee. He is on the 1850 census with wife Lucy M. Daniel and the kids. He was born 1831-32 in Tennessee and I feel like he is a descendant of Christopher Hutchins (b. 1722) of Washington County, Tennessee. I cannot make the connection. I feel like Moses Hutchins (1754) is his father and the son of Christopher but cannot document it. Is there anybody out ther that has John William Hutchins and Lucy M. Daniel in their line???
