I am looking for more information on James Hutchison and his wife, Mary Stewart.
He was born in 1802 in Ireland. I cannot find a birthplace or date of death.
It appears that he was married to Mary Stewart also born in Ireland abt 1800. They were the parents of Matthew Hutchison born abt 1834 in Refrewshire, Scotland. Any information would be greatly appreciated. My research has hit a dead end.
Please visit my family tree for more information on that line.
Thanks.

These are my ancestors. Russell Hutchison is my great grandfather. He had a daughter named Betty Jean who married John C Moran they had 2 children Russell Roland and Sheryl Ann.

Sheryl Ann is my mother, it shows in my grandmothers obituary that Sheryl was married to a Keith Shelton in Muncie, and that my grandmother had 2 grandchildren. I was wondering if you knew or anyone knew if these children belonged to Sheryl. My mother moved away after or a few months before Betty Jean died and left her past and any truth there with it.

Any help will be wonderful.

Thanks,
Melissa

So sorry for not posting a response. I hope you see this soon. I have very little time to devote to this hobby unfortunately and what little time I had was consummed by other branches of my family tree. My line decends from Ann Hutchison and William Gould's daughter Elizabeth Ann Gould. She married William Charles Eckersley in 1903. They had 8 children. Their daughter Jessie Thelma Gillett (nee Eckersly)was my grandmother. Elizabeth Ann and some of the Children died in tragic circumstances, while the others lived a long, full and happy life. I reunited with some of the decendants recently at my own mothers (Jessie's eldest daughter) 80th Birthday. Which sparked my research into this side of the family again. My mother and aunties & uncles went on a trip to Glenn Innes a few years back also and visited gravesites and old residences also. I would be interested to know more about your side of the tree in Glenn Innes, Wellingrove and surrounding areas.

Do any of the readers of this forum have a copy of a book by Helen Elsie (Hutchison) Dickinson titled: "Some Descendants of Joseph Hutchison of Loudoun County, Virginia, a Soldier of the American Revolution." Huntington, W. VA., 1976? An earlier edition of this book was published in 1970 in Redondo Beach, CA.

If you have a copy of this book or know where there is one, I should be most pleased to be advised by you.

My mother always told me that if the name is spelled Hutchison they are related to me and that the Hutchinsons, the Hutchesons, and the Hutchersons are not. Is that what is being found with the DNA testing.I am descended from Joseph born 1735, James born 1777, William H born 1822, George McClelland born 1862 and his daughter Mary Elizabeth born 1898. I was unable to find any of the family past William H until I found a list of his siblings tucked into the back of the family Bible. When I entered John Cornelius Hutchison it all popped up. I'm guessing you were not aware of our branch of the family. Where are the family papers at Colo. College. I would like to go see them. My son graduated from there in 1998. He was on the hockey team.

Jacob Hutchison, 1818-1866

This is a request for Hutchison family historians to check their records for the parents of a Jacob HUTCHISON. He was born, according to census data, in Kentucky in 1818. He died, according to his tombstone, in 1866. Jacob was buried in the Glade Cemetery, Blandinsville, McDonough County, Illinois. He had married Frances Hays 15 Jul 1841 in Kentucky.

This Jacob was in McDonough County, Illinois, at the time of the enumeration of the 1850 Federal Census there. He was listed as HUTCHINSON. In the 1860 census for the same county, he was listed as HUCHINSON.

A family tree at Ancestry.com has listed this Jacob as a son of Joseph Hutchison, Jr., and his wife, Mary (Curtsinger) Hutchison. While this information was enticing, it was not documented. Further, in the 1830 census for Lawrence County, Indiana, Joseph Hutchison had no male child in the age group 10-15 years. If Jacob was his son, then Jacob should have been listed in this age group with his father and mother. This absence raised concerns and continued the search for the parents of this Jacob Hutchison (sometimes Hutchinson, et. al.).

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for Elizabeth Hutchison. I have a lot of information on William Hudson & Nancy Richardson, but not his second wife Elizabeth:
1850 Arkansas Census, Clark county, South Fork Township, lists William Hudson 53 (Va), Nancy 48 (Va), Amvira 17 (Ky), Hugh 13 (Mo), Charlotte 11 (Mo), and Sarah 8 (Ark).
1850 Clark County, Ar, South Fork Township, Family 290 lists Elizabeth Hutchison 41 NC, William M. 20 Tn, George W. 17, Benjamin 12 Ar, Obediah 11 Ar, Samuel T. 9 Ar, Sebastian 7 Ar.
Elizabeth Hutchison m. William Hudson, widower on 27 Aug 1857 in Clark Co.
Can't find any of them in 1860 or 1870 Census
1880 Tx, Hill Co:
Pg. 4 lists William Hudson 82, Va; Elizabeth 72 N.C.
Pg. 20 lists Jesse Hudson 59 Ky; Elizabeth 52 IL; Simon 18 Ar; Martha 15 Ar; Julia 12 Tx.
Pg. 21 lists Geo Hudson 22 Ar/Ky/IL; Nancy 20 Tx/Al/Al; Jesse 1 Tx/Ar/Tx.
Almira Hudson m. William Marion Hutchison and can't find them in 1860/1870 census. I have no proof that William Marion Hutchison is son of Elizabeth but dates seem to match:
found Almira & Elizabeth in 1900 census in Los Angeles Co, Ca. Elizabeth, William & Almira are all buried in Ca.
1900 Ca, Los Angeles Co, Downey Township, Page 1a, line 30 lists Almire Cole 66 (Sep 1833) Ky/Va/Va; William Hutchison 47 (Jun 1852) son Ar/Tn/Ky; Thomas J. 43 (Jun 1857) son Ar/Tn/Ky; Ollie 29 (May 1871) daughter Ca/Tn/Ky & Elizabeth Hudson 91 (Sep 1808) mother in law, NC/Va/Va.
1910 Ca, Los Angeles Co, Burbank, Pg 3a, line 42 lists Almira Cole 76 Ky/Va/Va; Thomas J. Hutchinson 51 Tx/Tn/Ky; Ollie Hutchinson 31 Ca/Tn/Ky; Sam Nrishborn(?) 24 Grandson Ca/US/Tx.

I've managed to piece together some information about the Wickede family.

Eliza Frederica Wickede was the second daughter of Major Frederick von Wickede (1774-12 Oct 1822). Frederick's eldest daughter was Augusta Maria Wickede, who married at Tranquebar, India 31 July 1826 Captain Francis Plowden. Frederick's third daughter was Grace Wickede, who married at Quilon 20 November 1830 William Strickland, of the 6th N.I.

Frederick had a mistress called Christine Neuss who gave birth to a daughter called Carolina Lavinia Wickede on 9 August 1813 (baptised at Calcutta 22 March 1814). Carolina married at Calcutta 3 September 1830 Frederick William Johns (born circa 1807).

Frederick von Wickede was the son of Friedrich Bernhard von Wickede, a writer and silhouette cutter, who is famous enough to have his own german wikipedia page:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Bernhard_von_Wickede

Frederick was the only son of Friedrich Bernhard's first marriage to Magdalena Augusta Dorothea Vanselow (1751-1786).

The von Wickede family originated in Dortmund and served as Mayors of Lubeck for 400 years:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wickede_(Adelsgeschlecht)

Best wishes,

William Acton

Just noticed that the first post says that "George Hutchison and William GFAF Hutchison both served in the Madras Army"

Allen's Indian Mail (1847) page 595 has some marriage announcements:

"ACTON, Lieut. H. 4th L.C. to Laura A. d. of the late Capt. Hutchison, M.A. at Bangalore, Aug. 3."

That all seems to fit nicely.

I think I have a cousin descended from your Hutchisons:

Laura Augusta Hutchison (born 1828) daughter of George Hutchison married at Bangalore, India 3 August 1846 Lt. Henry Acton, 4th Madras Cavalry (1824-16 April 1865), son of Lt. Henry Acton (nephew of Sir John Acton, 6th Baronet) and his wife Charlotte Clugston.

They have many descendants, most of whom live in the USA. If anyone can find a baptism record for Laura Augusta Hutchison that would confirm the link.

Best wishes,

William Acton

Apparently, ole Joe had another daughter heretofore not documented. There was a marriage bond for David Hoskinson in Washington County, Kentucky, said bond dated August 4th, 1804, as received by the clerk, and issued for the purpose of marriage between David Hoskinson and "my daughter (Mary) Polle Hutchison. This marriage bond was witnessed by John Hutchison and Roland Awbrey and signed by Joseph Hutchison (his seal). The bond was written on the 11th day of September, 1804.

This document was discovered by Rev. Fannalou Guggisberg of Sun City West, Arizona. I received the data and a copy of the marriage bond from Fannalou in her letter to me dated 26 Sept. 2010. I am grateful to her for her diligent research concerning Joseph Hutchison of Breckinridge County, Ky.

This Mary "Polle/Polly" Hutchison was not previously known by Hutchison family historians of the current era. It was known that Mary Polly Hall, a dau. of Hannah Hall born previous to her marriage to Joseph Hutchison, had married a man named Hoggins. The mother of this Mary Polle Hutchison who married David Hoskinson was not documented and further research was indicated.

It should be noted that the mother of this Joseph Hutchison, Jr., is in question. The date of death of Joseph Hutchison's first wife, Susannah Dodson, was not known. It was before May 21, 1798. Also, this Joseph Hutchison, Jr., was not mentioned as an issue of Joseph & Hannah (Hall), his 2nd wife, in the settlement of Joseph Hutchison's estate in Breckinridge County. It was within the realm of reason that either Susannah or Hannah could have been the mother of Joseph Hutchison, Jr., since it was known that Joseph and Hannah had at least one child, Deborah, prior to their marriage in 1798. More research was indicated.

Joseph Hutchison had another son, previously unknown, who was not a get of Hannah (Hall) Hutchison, his 2nd wife. This data was taken from the Washington County, Kentucky, Marriage Book 1, page 121.

"Jan. 5, 1813: Joseph Hutchison, Jr. & Mary Polly Curtsinger. Surety: Robert Seybold consent of Ally Curtsinger stepmother of the bride on 1-5-1813.Testes Robert Seybold & Jesse Seybold. Consent of Joseph Hutchison, Sr., of Breckinridge County,, Ky., on 12-8-1813. Testes Esquire Hines Hutchison, Hall Hutchison, Durham Turner & Robert Seybold."

Joseph Hutchison, Jr., was an issue from the senior Joseph Hutchison's first marriage in Virginia to Susannah Dodson. This son must have been under legal age to marry since consent was given by his father for this marriage.

This marriage was discovered by the Rev. Fannalou Guggisberg of Sun City West, Arizona. She relayed the information to me via a letter dated 2 May 2011. She also forwarded to me copies of the marriage bond and consent documents from Washington County, Kentucky. Thank you, Fannalou for this marvelous addition to the legend of Joseph Hutchison of Breckinridge County, Kentucky, the founder of Hudsonville, later Hudson in that locale.
Roberta,
this does not sound familiar to me, although I'm not sure of the full details. I do know that she was married to John Hutchison and after he died, she married James Runyon, who my grandmother knew as her grandpa. John was about 20 years older than Mary and he died when she was still young after they had a family together. I'm still gather information, though, so who knows. I will certainly let you know what I figure out. I will also email the gentleman you told me might be able to help and see if he has any information. Thank you so much for the help on this one!
