However, it's a trail that I have not yet been able to confirm.
You might want to look up these two sources....

"The Hydes of Northampton County" paraphrased from the North Carolina Genealogy Society Journal May 1994.

'History of the North-American Indians' by Adair, p.151'

Happy hunting.
Blister62

This might interest you. I went to London and visited the National Portrait Gallergy. When I saw the painting of the family of John Churchill, the Duke of Marlborough, I could not believe it. His wife, Sarah Jennings Churchill, was the image of my daughter and the Duke was the image of my eldest son. Another son was the imagine of my sister's son. It was like a family portrait. I later learned the Jennings family of London was very wealthy, their origin was Danish (York where the Dane-Law was put in place), and that WM the Conqueror did not move them out when he came to England.

Hyde Genealogy

From what I've discovered, the pirate Richard Hyde may be my 10x great grandfather through my father's mother who was a Talley. Her great grandmother was a Bottoms by marriage. I had no idea when I started tracing my roots and I realize it may prove false one day, but I had a pretty solid line through the tree. I'm anxious to one day head east and find out for sure by tracing records back first-hand as much as I can.

Has anyone else found record of these names in your Hyde research?

Hello and thank you for your interest. I received two responses earlier, both suggesting I contact the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston. Because they were willing to archive the material I sent it to them last week. I am sorry now that I didn't retain a few of the photos. If you wish to follow up with them, my contact there was Judy Lucey, archivist. As I am still "cleaning" out my husband's office, I may find other material, so perhaps I could still be of help. Could you send more information concerning that particular line? Is John Lightbody Hyde part of it? Thank you for contacting me and I am sorry that I couldn't have been more help.

Thanks for the details. I am very familiar with the Hyde line you describe. Unfortunately it is not the line of our ancestors William Hide/Hyde who immigrated from England in 1633 to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. You have some important photos and just need the right family match. You might contact the NEHGS (New England Historic Genealogical Society)located in Boston for advice about how to connect the photos with the appropriate descendants. Sorry it isn't a match and good luck.

I would be thrilled if you are a match for these pictures. Let me reopen the boxes and find some pertinent information for you. I'll get back to you very soon. These boxes belonged to my husband's great aunt March Pike, wife of George Pike, and they had no children. We have moved them with every household move that we have made, and as my husband recently passed away and I will soon be making another move, I would love to find descendants who would appreciate them. The states that come to mind are Pennsylvania and Kansas, also Wiltshire, Eng.

I have three ancestors named George Hyde between 1815 and 1936, an Ella Hyde, four different Martha Hyde's. Can you provide any information about where the photos were taken or the approximate date range? I also have Pike ancestors. Do you have any information about first names, dates or locations? It would help to see if this is a match. In any case thanks for rescuing the photos for whichever descendants this will benefit.

I'm a wee bit late with this (!) but John Hyde's (B.1827 in County Cork, D. 1872 in Wilmington, Delaware) descendants include a son Daniel J. Hyde (1856-1904), whose children were William Aloysius Hyde Sr. (1891-1971), John F. Hyde (1889-1968), and Mary Regina Hyde(1888-1960). All these lived in Delaware. William A. Hyde, Jr. (1923-1985) was my father.

John was the son of Daniel Hyde (B. 11/1/1800 in Ballyvourney) and Nora Connell (B. circa 1805). That's as much as we know.
Best wishes,
Vicki Hyde
I'm descended from Jamey Caroline Hyde, who was the daughter of John Aaron Hyde and Mary Jane Beck. Jamey was born on June 8, 1822 in Haywood County, North Carolina. I am interested in seeing if anyone has in their possession and would be willing to share any photographs that they have of Jamey's parents, as well as of her siblings: Benjamin A., Elizabeth Ann, John A., Jason S., Humphrey Posey, David Eller, William J., and Mary J. Hyde. I possess a blurred photo of Jamey that I am willing to share, but it is the only Hyde photo that I possess. I am especially interested in finding any photos of Jamey's brothers in their Civil War uniforms. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Dear Elizabeth, I know that it has been years since your post on this but I have just seen it. I may be able to help a little. I have an ancestor called John Hyde who was born in Bisley in Gloucestershire circa 1823 he was one of nine children. His father was Samuel Hyde (1790) and Sarah East (1790). I don't have much of his later life or even that he may have moved from the UK to Australia but it is a possibility. If there could be a link we can share further info if you wish.

Children of Leo Dodds Hyde...6 with first wife, 3 with second ??

I am researching Nellie Rae Fields. She is the oldest of 11 children of Clara Belle (Westfall) and Lewis Fields.

I had information that her last name was Arnold. It was only when I located her burial place in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafeal and saw a picture of her headstone did I begin to realize that she had been married before being married to George Turner Arnold.
Headstone shows Nellie Rae ( 1897-1987) buried with George Turner Arnold (1880-1972)….but also a Barbara Lue Hyde (1928-1969).

I have found that Nellie Rae Fields was married to Leo Dodds Hyde in Kansas.

Leo Dodds had been married before and had 5 children… Preston, Audrey, James Porter,
Imogene and Edward.

Leo’s first wife Clara (Connell) died in 1916. She is buried in the Reading Cemetery in Kansas, but also there is a Clara Delbert Hyde buried there…. 1916-1916, I am thinking Clara died in childbirth.

Leo married Nellie Rae (Fields) around 1918...his draft notice has him married to her.

The 1930 census shows children born to Leo and Nellie….Frances age 8 and Barbara
Age 1 ½. Frances is mentioned in Nellie’s obit from 1987 and we know Barbara died prior because she is buried with Nellie/ and her second husband in CA…

A wonderful volunteer just took photos of the HYDE headstones in the Reading Cemetery in Kansas and…….There is a grave that says J. W. Hyde Son of L. D. and
Nellie Hyde 1918. So, this means Leo and Nellie had 3 children together…not 2.
Looks like the son maybe died when born??..

Leo died in 1936.….no more info….buried in Reading Cemetery
His children James Porter and Edward are also there….as well as Clara Delbert (who
I believe died in childbirth along with her mother Clara A.)
Son Preston Connell is buried in Longmont, CO.
I have no info about children Audrey (census says this is a male) and Imgogene.

Leo’s children with second wife Nellie Rae (Fields)
Newly found J. W. son of L.D. and Nellie Hyde 1918 in Reading Cemetery
Frances (Thiel)….mentioned in Nellie’s obit
Barbara Lue Hyde 1928-1969 buried with Nellie in CA

If anyone has any information about the children of Leo Dodds Hydes with first wife Clara Connell (6 total) and second wife Nellie Rae Fields (3 total) I sure would love to hear from you.

Anna

I just found info that tells me Leo Hyde was married to a Clara ?? prior to his marriage to Nellie Rae (Fields)

1915 Reading, Lyon CO,KS
Hyde
Leo D. 34, stockman
Clara 32
Preston 12
Audrey 10
Porter 4
Imogene 2
Edward 4 mo

By 1918 Leo was married to Nellie Rae per his draft registration.
I find a Clara Hyde buried in the Reading Cemetery 1882-1916...and a Clara Delbert Hyde 1916-1916 (both buried in the Hyde Plot), so I am thinking maybe she died in childbirth.

I find a Leo Hyde in the Reading cemetery 1881-1936, which I believe is the Leo I am looking at. Leo's second wife Nellie Rae is remarrying to a George Arnold in 1940.

If anyone has information about Leo and his first wife Clara, and the kids, I sure would love to hear from you.

Nellie Rae was the oldest child of Cora Belle (Westfall) and Lewis Fields.(They had 11 children).
Hello,
I was looking for information about Nellie Rae Arnold and her husband George T. Arnold.

I just found that George T. Arnold was married before marrying Nellie Rae (which I believe married a Leo Hyde before marrying George). George's draft notice says he was married to Florence Elizabeth...and in the 1930 census it shows him married to a Florence E. Florence's father (Edward J. Lough) was living with George/Florence in San Raphael in Marin CO, CA. They had a son Edward G....age 11 born in CA.

George Arnold married Nellie Rae Hyde (maiden name Fields) Dec 7, 1940.

In the 1930 census Nellie Rae is married to a Leo Hyde in Lyon Co, KS.
Leo age 49
Nellie age 30
daughter Imogene age 17
Edward age 15
Frances age 8 (female) Frances is mentioned as a surviving daughter in Nellie's obit from Nov 1987...Frances Thiel living in Montrose CO.
Barbara age 1 1/2... Barbara Lue Hyde shares the headstone with Nellie/George Arnold in the Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael. dates 1928-1969

If anyone knows about George Arnold being married to Florence Lough (1st marriage)and what might have happened to Florence and their son Edward that would be nice.

Also, anything about George's second marriage to Nellie Rae Hyde (Fields) in 1940.

Nellie Rae Fields was the daughter of Cora Belle (Westfall) and Lewis Fields. Cora Belle was my great grandmother's sister. (11 Westfall siblings)

Thank in advance for any help in solving this branch of the family.
Anna
