According to the information I have he served in the Signal Corps and was for a time stationed at a Radar Training School here in Illinois.

I came across the name while researching the history of a forest preserve here which housed the school.

My mother is the granddaughter of Mabel Ide, which would make her your cousin. My mother remembers when my grandfather was notified about the death of Leo Caden. I know several of your first cousins. You may email me if you wish.

I am from South Australia. My mother was here about 10 years ago and we visited the little chapel (forget the name now) where there are many Ides buried. Then we went down further to I think St Mary's to look at further graves and the registrar. She had the genealogy of her being a descendant from the Ides family, the branch which ended up in South Australia. Unfortunately, she has since died and I am now trying to make the connections once again. I am presently in the UK and would like to visit the chapel again Do you have any light to throw on this connection? We are, no doubt, related being both from South Australia

HI- No Obadiah Ide in the simeon Ide book, the most complete. Also sorry to report there is no Obadiah ide in the Ide book: Pennsylvania Branch. My gggggg-grandfather Rogers H. Ide does not show up in any of my books, either, so I totally understand the frustration-he is my missing link--his parents & siblings. I would suggest contacting the Vital Records of town and State he was born or died in.You might get lucky. Also search on FindaGrave. Go past faous ancestors and try by state. it's a bit hard to navigate--I had trouble, but found Ides buried all over new england & pretty much everywhere. that's where I found my rogers Ide's gravestone, his wife, & other family members. sorry I can't be of more help. these damn Ides -so many missing records. Oops-were damn Ides, too! sincerely, Kristina mack

Nancy--I know i came across a Samuel Darius ide during my research & had hoped I could connect him to rogers, but no real luck.Samuel does not show up in the book the pENNSYLVANIA bRANCH OF THE iDE fAMILY. nOW i WILL LOOK IN OTHER BOOK.hE ALSO DOES NOT SHOW UP IN THE Simeon Ide Book which goes back to our original Ide, Nicholas. I'm sure he is part of Original ide line, as book says Nicholas is father of all ides here today, but with so any records missing, there's always some who get lost in the shuffle. I live near Eden, NY where Rogers Ide's son, and all descendants, including my plot when I die, are buried. Yet, Rogers Ide documents are nowhere to be found. Except his life, children, Preacher Days, 2 wives, and censuses. He is not in either ide Genealogy book, yet I can put him with jesse Ide around 1810 in Crown Point, NY.I will look up your other names-ancestors of Samuel Darius & see if I find anything else in Ide books. give me a little time-many health issues right now.So glad to hear from you--Distant cousin, i imagine, kristina mack

Have tried everywhere & everything-Ancestry, computer sites, phone calls long distance, letters, Vt.Records & we can't get rogers H. Ide's parents or siblings. thru many hints & clues 7 censuses, I believe his father to be Jesse Ide & his mother Laenece/Lanesca sheldon. but no proof!! No documents! I'm, going to stay on Ancestry forever as lovejoylulu--if you ever come across anything, please let me know! maybe I should call Library myself. disabled and old, or I would go there. Many thanks for responding. I hope I can find my way back to your mesage & see what I can find for you in Ide books. Kristina mack--mother Betty V. Ide

Hi Kristina,

The messages you responded to were posted a number of years ago. I'm happy to report that I have since gotten several generations back on my Ide line. Benjamin > Thomas > William > William H. > Samuel. Benjamin settled first in Clifton Park and then in Corinth, Saratoga Co., NY.

I'm afraid that I don't have anything on your Rogers Ide, but if I come across him, I'll be certain to let you know.

I live in the Syracuse, NY area - not too far from where Rogers Ide lived and is buried. We have a particularly strong genealogy department in the Onondaga Public Library. If you want to check out their catalog, if there's something there that you think may help, let me know and I'd be happy to look it up for you. Their website can be found at http://www.onlib.org/.

-- Nancy

I have also found a possible husband (or possibly a relationship outside of marriage) with a Charles Ayleward (b1819) but nothing further (possibly born at Oving.
Going backwards. Anne,s parents were Silliam(b17550 boxgrove) and Sarah (surname unknown) HIs parents were also
John(1729) and Ann Whares(b17??) married at All Saints Chichester (date ?). further back also JOhn (1704 and Ann Richmond(1929?) His father was also John (1677) at East Levant, married MARY Puttock) possibly 1703 ( a year before their son was born) Things get a little Sketchy from now on but there is a Henry (1645) married to Mary Mackerell (posibly 1650?) I can go bake a futher 3 generations to 1525
but no further at present.
I hope this will help you in yor research and any errors in my records I will appreceite being advised so everything is correct. I will send you on my own correction to Anne at a later date if you can send me an email (gordonide@yahoo.co.uk)
Thank you! I hadn't checked on here in nearly 2 years... I got so frustrated I kind of put it aside for awhile, lol. I'm so glad to see your reply. I really think this Otis is related somehow; I just can't connect the dots-- I was expecting (well, hoping) for him to have a brother named Reuben (I have at least 2, possibly 3, Reubens in my direct line of ancestors). I see none listed though, so maybe Otis is a cousin.

I think I'm a generation off here, but I have a great great grandfather, Albert Alexis Ide, who was born in Vermont, and whose parents (per 1900 census) were born in Vermont. I have his parents as Timothy and Mary Ide--Timothy possibly the brother or cousin of your ancestor?. I have Albert being born in 1825. I would love to know if my ancestor is connected to the one you list here.

I've found a William & Bertha Ide in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Lester Prairie, McLeod Co. Minnesota. William's dates on the stone are 1862 to 1928. I am intriqued with this couple because Bertha has a birth year of 1876 but no death year. I am wondering if there were no family members left to inscribe the date, or if indeed she is not buried there at all.

Looking for descendants of Mary (Ide) Medley 1886 NC - 1971 GA

I am searching for any descendants of Mary (Ide) Medley, born 1886 Rowan Co., NC died 1971 Richmond Co., GA. Mary was the daughter of John Robert and Mary/Molly Shaver Ide. She was married to Frank Medley sometime between 1910-1920. In 1920, 1930 and 1961 she is known to have been living in Devereux, Hancock Co., GA. Frank was listed in the 1920 Hancock Co., GA Census as having been born in NC about 1870.

In particular I am interested in the disposition of any family papers she had in her possession in 1961 concerning the romance between her great-aunt, Nancy Manney of Beaufort, NC and Charles G.W. French.

I am also a Manney descendant and my family tree program lists me as a second cousin, twice removed of Mary Ide Medley’s. I would just say a distant cousin.

Thank you for any assistance in locating these letters and papers.

Nancy Smith
They had two children Derrick E B b Bridgwater 1930 and Barbara M b St Thomas 1933. I have also found Donald Ide had a sister Audrey. I have tried to contact the owner of an Ide family tree which has Donald and Audrey, but they have declined to respond. Does anyone hav einformation regarding Donald and Audrey coming forward from 1928. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
