The Alma who passed away in 1984 in Milwaukee is indeed the same Alma who was married to Otto Imm and she was my Great Grandmother. I can help you with info about her descendents if you wish.

Becky

My dear cousin Jerry:

It is I, your cousin Brenda Fugate, Uncle Ernie and Aunt Bert's daughter. How the heck are you? Your reply was meant for Vicki and I will forward to her in the hope she will get back to you. Lots of news my way, would love to talk to you. Say hello to Shirley for me.

There is a new book I just noted yesterday, "A Genealogical Account of Westward Migration as Recorded in Court, Census, and Military Records, Newspaper Articles, and Personal Remembrances"
By Jeffrey L. Imes and Louis B. Imes

This genealogical record traces the descendants of an Iams/Imes family that migrated from the East Coast into Lawrence County, Ohio, about 1810. One of the four members of this family remained in the Lawrence
County area, while the other three subsequently migrated farther west, settling mainly in and around Fountain County, Indiana; Stark County, Illinois; and Franklin County, Kansas. Along the way, the family changed
the spelling of Iams to Imes.

There are many references to Scioto County also. I was wondering if there wasn't some connection to Uncle Roy's line in this book. It is a private printing handled through a publisher (Little Miami) in Milford OH. I planned on checking with the Main Branch in Cleveland to see if it is available. Would you have any interest?

I will send you an e-mail privately with my info.

Love Brenda

P.S. I have a killer picture of you in your navy blues!

Re: IMM/EMM Family Research

Thank you very much for the lovely history lesson. I know very little about the name of Imm or Emm. It seems that in the United States my family has spelled the name two ways, which makes it more difficult to find all the members in a direct relationship. I have gathered some information on the American families, but do not know where to look first in other countries. My great grandfather was Johann Julius Imm, he emigrated here in 1857 from West Prussia after he had been released from the army. It seems the royal Prussian Army made all young men serve a term in the army for a time. My great grandfather married Wilhelmina Austine Timmerman. I have not been successful in finding where or when they were married but they were both in America when their first child was born in 1860 and were residing in Illinois. This leads me to believe they might have come over on the same ship about the same time frame. I am interested in finding more of his or her families and hopfully more about his time in the service of his homeland. I also would love to know more about the Imm family origin, when and where they began. I find your story most interesting and maybe it will help me discover more about my own family or give me some clues where to look further for information on their background. Thank you for contacting me. I will be happy to share my information with anyone who is also willing to share their family tree names, etc. Maybe we can be successful together in finding out more on this subject.
Hi, I am David Imm too (the real one !) I am french. Dear homonyms, let me greet you ! Another place of Imm ancestors is located on the french/swiss/german border. Why ? In the first half of the 20th Century, a lot of jude people have been working in Swiss or Germany, where they were not allowed to live. Therefore, they have been living by the french side of the border, working on day by the other side. (sorry for the approximate english, Imm in Europe are natural german or french speakers...)

Otto Imm married Alma Radtke and Anna Imm married Walter Schult.
Do you have any information were Alma and Walter passed away? I don't know if your Schult family is related but it is worth asking just in case. The SSDI indicates an Alma Imm died in Milwaukee Nov. 1984, she had a birth date of March 3, 1891.
IMM Family Research

I am researching the IMM/Emm familys, the name has two spelling variations. My great-grandfather, JOHANN (John) JULIUS IMM was from Prussia/Germany, he immigrated to the USA in May of 1857 probably to Manhattan Island; then went on to Chicago, IL.

It is possible he may have come with other family members, but there is no evidence of such.

I would like to find any members of this family name that might clarify or add to my information.

The Imm/Emm families related to me settled in the Pontiac, Longpoint, Streator, Flannigan, Joliet, (Livingston Co.), IL areas.

I would be willing to exchange information with anyone from these families.

It is possible that these family members also migrated to Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, and California.

Thank you for any assistance you may be able to give.

Judy Canfield/JCMissy@AOL.com

Re: Roy Imm

Brenda, Lucille Imm Crawford was my aunt, and sister of Roy W. Imm who is my father. I can't think of who your father-in-law as other than Joe, and I didn't know that he was born in Sciotoville, but he could have been. I only met Aunt Lucille two times during my life, and I know that he and Kennard lived in Ogden, Utah from roughly the beginning of WW II, and remained there until their deaths. My father passed away in December of 1977, and my brother Bob (Robert), and my two sisters Greta and Ramona still live in Sciotoville, and Cleveland respectively. I left Portsmouth in 1958 living in Columbus while attending the Ohio State Univ., and then we lived in Maryland while I was working with the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C., and subsequently moved to Alaska in 1975 and have remained. Back to the Imm family: Lucille was the oldest sister, followed by Margaret, then Edward, and then Roy and last was Gerald (all deceased). I have attempted to research the family, but I get discouraged and give it up. I can pass on a lot more than I included in this message. I would be happy to hear from you, and particularly who your father-in-law was, etc.

Jerry L. Imm

I have just begun my research on my husband's family and would appreciate any help. His ggrandfather was Jacob Imm, born in Germany. I have no dates or place names. Jacob was married to (?) Schoenberg (Schernberg) who was born on the ship on the high seas. Both Jaclb and his wife died and were buried in Portsmouth, Ohio. They had five children, Lucille, Margaret, Ed, Roy, and Gerald. All three sons are also buried in Porsmouth, have no idea about the boys. Iappreciate any assistance anyone might be able to give on this matter. Vicki

My name is Juli Brown and I am a student at Sauk Rapids High shcool in Minnesota. For multicultural literature, we are doing a project on our family history/heritage. My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Imm, and I found your request for more information interesting. I don't know much about her family off-hand, but will surely try and keep you updated if I do find out anything, in case there might be some relation. Her name was Vangie. She passed away several years ago at the age of 60, leaving behind husband Aurthur Verick, as well as 8 children and 14 grandchildren. Let me know if there is any other information you can give me about the Imm family, and I will try to keep you updated as well. Thanks!
