Hello there;---

My name is Shannon Ireland. I am a descendant of Thomas Ireland, of the ship "Royal" of New Netherlands, who settled in Hempstead, Long Island, NY in the mid 1600's. I am directly descended from Isaac Ireland, who emigrated to Canada in the 1800's. I have my Honours Degree in History and have actively been researching my family tree for quite some time. I would be very interested in sharing what I have found with you!

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Warm regards,

Shannon Ireland

It was very nice to hear from you. I am a descendant of the John Ireland family that immigrated to Pennsylvania, USA, in 1800. They later migrated to Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Missouri.

According to DNA testing, we have relatives from England to Australia. We all seem to have started out in Scotland, Ireland and England.

I think that you should contact Robert Ireland at sanktengel@yahoo.com. He is the system administrator to an Ireland website that has Ireland's, from all over the world, inputing geneology research. Access to the site is by invitation only and Robert must give you a password.
Robert has compiled a register of ancestors, for the Ireland family of Lancashire, beginning with the year 1150.

You might also like to contact Barry Hyder of Lancashire. He has the "Hyder Family Tree" on Ancestry.co.uk. He is also a descendant of the Ireland family and has traced them back to 1510. You can connect with him through a previous entry on this blog. If you have trouble, getting in touch with him, let me know.

Good luck researching,

Rebecca Irelan Harl

Hello Robert. I am interested in researching the Irelands from Rudgwick in Sussex England. My grandmother was an Ireland, and for many years I have been trying to trace her brother Maurice William Ireland. I can trace him from birth up to 1921 when he was with his wife and children in Argentina as a shepherd. He became involved in the Argentinian uprising and returned to England in 1922, since when he seems to have vanished! Ihave letters, postcards etc up to that date - then nothing.
Look forward to hearing from you Barry Hyder.

Susan Irelan was my grandmother and she was a teacher. My dad, Clellen E. Irelan April 1911, had a number of brothers all names starting with C. as well as several sisters, Blanche March 1890, Ruth May 1894, Jane August 1891, Afra March 1898, Ann December 1899, Carl March 1896, Curtis December 1906, Charlie October 1892, Clayton November 1909, Claude January 1902, and Cliff February 1904. . I think there were a total of 12 sibs, one having died in infancy by accidental poisoning (Clayton).

I would like to gain access to the Irelan website. I am a descendent of the Irelan family from Jasper County, Missouri. The oldest record that I can find on Ancestry.com is of my ggg grandparents:

Samuel L Irelan
b. 1818, Ohio, USA
d. 27, Nov 1853, White, Indiana, USA
m. Margaret Bishop

I believe that Samuel's parents were:

John Irelan
b. 1790, Kentucky, USA
d. 1861, Greene Co, Ohio, USA
m. Margaret Campbell

There seem to be numerous men named John Irelan(d)from Kentucky. I'm not sure where to go from here. n Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Rebecca Harl
rebecca.harl@gmail.com
I am interested in gaining access to your Ireland website. My mother was an Irelan from Jasper County, Missouri. All of the websites, that I have checked, can only trace this branch of Irelan's back four generations. Unfortunately, my grandparents died in their early 40's and left no information about their ancestors. It seems that the name might have been recorded as Ireland in the 1800's.

Thank you,

Rebecca Harl
rebecca.harl@gmail.com

Hello Robert: I am interested in being a part of the Ireland Family research that you have set up. I have joined the myfamily.com but cannot figure out how to ask to be a member of your group. We had an Ireland Family reunion at the Ireland House in Burlington in 2007 which was attended by many of the Ireland Clan about 120 in total. http://www.museumsofburlington.com/IHMuseum/IHMuseum.html
We hosted it at the Ireland House Museum, had a tour of the house, games for the kids a great lunch and loads of fun. We want to step the reunion up a little and reach even more of our clan from Nelson County, Ontario, Canada or from Bowes, North Yorkshire England.
My name in the myfamily is Barry Quinn. Please give me information on how to get onto your site.
Barry Quinn
555 Hurd Ave.
Burlington, Ontario
L7S 1T2
quinnlouise@sympatico.ca

IRELAND Surname Genealogy Site (ISGS)

I'd like to inform anyone here at the IRELAN forum that if you're not aware of it you should be, that we have an IRELAND (yes, this surname in its original form was IRELAND, not IRELAN, and this is well documented factually)website, not in its 10th year which has vastly more to offer for this particular surname than all the IRELAN/IRELAND site combined.

The site is free of charge, but does come with a few minimum requirements that nearly anyone can meet, even the novice among us. At the site we've combined:
over 1100 members worldwide all researching this surname
over 2250 photos and images
over 10840 postings and messages
over 1.030 Gb of compiled data
over 120 private reported genealogies (to remain private!)
many personal and private holdings being shared nowhere else
a dedicated address book for networking
uniquely maintained databases
the only y-DNA project dedicated to this surname and its variations.

Just to give some insight, we are coordinating the research on many fronts and for many of the specific lineages, we now understand better being or not being related in the genealogical sense. Most valued researchers of this surname are members of the ISGS and through that body have coordinated the research and driven it to accomplishments no single nor group effort has to date. We've dispelled or proven a number of valued previous historical works, with some very interesting implications for the overall work concerning this surname.

Should anyone have an interest in this surname then you're asked to seriously consider joining us in tandem. Although counterintuitive, there is a precendence for keeping the coommunity a closed one. I would be glad to explain the rational beind this philosphy. To put it briefly though, our success in comparison to these more public forum speaks for itself. Albeit, they are visited as soon and often a new posting is generated, the real discussion, dialog and analysis takes place at the ISGS. To put it bluntly, the organization has yielded more in the past 10 years than all previous studies combined before. Through a combination of shared effort, concerted time and resource management, we've been able to cut the amount of redundant work across all fields. A good amount of our holdings, as stated, come from private archival holdings and as such will never be found in the public domain. That alone makes us unique to the study of this surname. In fact, it's been our finding that much more than 50% of the documentary evidence and more than 90% of the photographic, is in private, nnot public holdings. Many of those will not be found and are expressly on loan to us with that understanding.

Finally, the privacy of our forum allows us certain advantages that a public forum simply will not. Very up-to-date material sharing.

So, if you want to really research and share. Do it with your cousins at the ISGS and join this more concerted effort. Feel free to contact me, Bob IRELAND, through my given email (click on the links assocated with this message. I am listed) and lets get the process of getting you on-board moving along. Remember, IRELAN is an historical scriptual misrepresentation of the IRELAND surname, not as in some oral tradition, an attempt to make a protest. IRELANs hail from IRELANDs, even the genetics drive this point home clearly and unambiguously.
