Hi Olga! I am well though I lost my voice to this cold. Thank goodness I can type. Anyway, Margarita is 64 and lives in lawrenceville, Ga. she would love to talk to you. I have most of the information since I have been doing her tree but I keep texting her with updates, the other night I texted her,"You have a sister Olga"! This is her cell no and email address: margie0129@att.net and 678-687-9537. My info is 954-328-8286 tatiedel@bellsouth.net. There is a lot of info out there: 1910 census shows Avelino married to Mercedes Iglesias del Valle Irizarry and her father born in Spain. Also shows her as the mother to Rafael 10,Cesar 9,Moises 8,Ricardo 3, but she was 18! and Avelino 40. So what happened to Candida??? Do you have a tree??

Hi Edel, Hope all is well. Just wondering how old is Margarita and where does she live? I don't know any John Irizarry, maybe a relative? not sure. Dad had 2 brothers; 1-Jose Angel Moises Irizarry Marini(Tio Moses) and 2- Ricardo Enrique Irizarry Marini(Tio Kiki). Believe it or not I never knew their names until recently. Daddy explained somethings about the families last names who they were. Daddys father,Avellino was basque(the border of Spain and France) and Grandma Candida's father was Italian not sure about where her mother was from. I've being wanting to look into the families ancestry to get more information.I am the oldest of my siblings. I like to thank you for your e-mail. Can Margarita also write to me? Please let me know if you find any information.

My name is Edel Rodriguez Y Villafane. My mother was Margarita Villafane (this would be the affair, sorry) and she had 2 children with Cesar, Margarita and Dixie Anna Irizarry, Dixie passed away in 1963, they are my half sisters. We last saw him in the mid 50s in the Bronx, NY.We have always been curious on there being other siblings, biological connections out there.

I am going to meet Ruth Ann Irizarry this Friday, her father was John Irizarry. We believe Cesar's bother. Ruth mentioned visiting Cesar's home, in NY, Brooklyn or Queens, does not remember well. But remembers playing with his kids. Ruth's sister Mary (the youngest) is the one working on her family tree. I don't see a sibling named John when I search for Cesar. But we think there still may be a connection,there. I live in Dania Beach, Fl now. Would love to learn more.

Dad was married 3 times and my mother was his last wife. The other wives, there are 6 siblings and 2 siblings from an affair that I know of. Hi Zuly, this is Edel and I am Margarita Irizarry's half sister so Cesar was not my father. Anyway Margie asked me to stay in touch with you, her computer is out! Anyway, I have been working on our family tree and am trying to find out as much info for her. Our contact with Cesar stopped in the mid 50's. I do believe that Cesar is your grandfather and if that is so, that would make Margarita your fathers half sister, that is crazy! I am also in contact with someone else, Mary is her name and there seems to be a connection there too but I need to find documentation to confirm it. I have a long lost brother on my mother's side whose name is Jose Enrique Ortiz. Coincidentally his second last name is Irizarry and yes he too is from Puerto Rico. Or at least he was from P.R. since he left home way back in the early 80's never to be seen again despite our constant efforts to locate him.

Our mother Rosa Irizarry Balaguer died in December of 1996 at age 62. So if any of this info sounds like this is your father we're speaking of feel free to contact me and I will provide as much info as I can. I am no longer trying to find Jose, though. My mother is gone so there’s no case is persisting, and frankly, if Jose didn’t want us to know anything about him then I guess that’s the way he wanted to be remembered.

Btw my brother was born in 1961 in Mayaguez, P.R. I believe he was born in January or February of that year so he was my mom's first child until she met my father in N.Y. and the rest of us were born. He has three brothers of which I am the youngest. The other three of us were born in Bronx, NY in the '60's but we all grew up in P.R. from 1972 until the 80's. Then everybody sort of went on their own but we’ve kept in contact with one another; the only exception to that is Jose of whose whereabouts we really have no clue. I do know he joined the U.S. Army soon after leaving home (sometime in '82 or '83) and was stationed in Kentucky at a base there for a year or two before moving to Texas. I'm not sure if he was still in the Army when he was in Texas, though. He did write to mom a couple of times I think from El Paso, Tx... even once sending her a picture of him and him a woman but I’m not sure if she was his wife or his girlfriend. He also wrote to me and my father (who raised him since baby) but every single time he wrote all he did was ask everybody for money. I last sent him $2,000 and my dad and mom sent him a bunch of money too. After that he totally vanished from the face of the earth but it was rumored by people that knew him in my parents’ hometown here in P.R. that he kept in contact with some of his old high school friends that shared the Jehovah Witness affiliation with him when he was in P.R. I tried many times to speak to these people but they always gave me the cold shoulder and refused to provide any information that would lead to Jose’s whereabouts. Great people they were.

Bottom line with great regret I must say that my brother Jose was not a good son otherwise he would have looked for his mother before she past away. She had massive heart failure in 1996 after years of asking for her lost son. All she wanted was to see her son once again. And the same with me and dad… we just wanted to make sure he was okay. But I guess he thought we would ask him for all the money he borrowed; or maybe the Jehovah Witness had that much influence over his actions. I mention the JW because in P.R. during his youth he was very attached to them and we believe he was acting weird due to his affiliation.

Emmanuel, I truly hope my brother Jose is not your father because if he is I regret to tell you he would not make a very good father. But I think you should continue your pursuit if only to learn your roots. I wish you and Michelle good luck in your search. My father's name is Juan Irizarry. He was born in Yuaco PR. His Mother is Dahlia Nieves. His father is also Juan Irizarry. From what i hear he was also born in yuaco but went to Susua Bhaja Sabana Grande. I am also told my grandfather had a brother named Miguel. Can anyone help me connect the dots???

I am searching for the family of Obdulio Irizzary-Gerena, who went MIA in Korean on 16 Dec 1951. He was born 5 Jan 1930 in Puerto Rico. When he died his family was living in the Barrio Arizona, Lares, PR. His mother's name was Carmen Gerena Vda. Irizzary and he had a sister named Mariana.

His remains have not been found, but I am working with the military trying to find his family to donate a DNA sample in case that ever happens.

Could you please write me and let me know if you recognize this family? Thank you.

I came across this by chance, my name is Zajara versheck
my father was born in Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico his name was Luis Angel Irizarry Montalvo.
I think his father's name was Alfredo Irizarry.
My father married my mother who was from mayaguez.
Her last names were Pacheco Rios. Also I remember my dad telling me that he had a cousin that had been a mayor in Cabo Rojo.

my father's mother and sister were murdered by my grandmother's common law husband. If this sounds familiar to you, please let me know as I know very little about my father's side of the family. The Irizarry Montalvo name is not that common that is why it caught my attention.
